Drywall Service
We contacted Precise Drywall because his Angie's List reviews were good. There were only 2 reports but they were both good. We got an estimate from them to tape and mud the drywall in our basement with textured ceiling for $900. He said he would also prime the walls and ceiling for an additional $250. He said we wouldn't need to paint the ceiling after he was done. He said the job would take about 4 days.
It started out fine and we liked him.. First, he did the taping and mudding which went fine. On the fourth or fifth day, he started texturing the ceiling and priming. On the day he said he was going to be finished we paid him. Things went downhill after we paid him. He finished that day and said he needed to come back to finish some things including some splatters from his paint hose exploding. We noticed that they didn't finish the inside door walls of the 2 closets. I thought that they must have forgot so I called him to tell him. He told me that in his 20 years of doing this he has never finished those walls but he agreed to do it. I though that was strange but he did say he would do it.
On two separate occasions, he never showed up. He finally came back for 10 minutes to mud/tape the closet and said he still needed to come back to finish. We noticed that the ceiling needed a second coat of primer because we could see roller marks and the splatters still had not been fixed. We tried contacting him several times without a return call. After 4 calls and a no show he called back and told us he was out of town for 2 weeks. We told him about streaks on the ceiling and he said he originally agreed to apply one coat of primer. He then said he would call us back to arrange a time to come back. That was the last we heard from him and gave up. We decided to fix the ceiling ourselves.
So, in summary, the walls and ceiling that he did mud and tape were fine. The ceiling primer coat was streaky and since he said that we would not have to paint the ceiling, it should have a finished look. Communication dropped off after he was paid. The process went on for over a month and was never completed.

Installation was done quickly and it was professionally done. The clean up after the project could have been better.

He does a nice job. I have used him before and I went on Angie's List to get his name so I could use him again. I'd say he's excellent. We have a bay window and we left the windows opened and the wood got rippled from the water standing on it. So he took the window trim apart, put veneer on and stained it. It looks like new. My husband is really fussy about stain, he can stain but doesn't take the time to do it. He did an excellent job, even my husband said it was excellent. That wasn't in his original job description, but once he's was here we asked him to do that as well. It's great.

Both jobs went well. Cory worked our job in among his other work and was able to get to it the next week. The first time it took longer than he estimated because of the extra work but the second time his quote of 4 days was right on schedule. He was able to start the job the week after I called and promised to be finished on Friday. When the drywall was not dropped off as scheduled and he was a day behind because of it, he came on Saturday and Sunday to be sure it was done in time for the painters to come on Monday as scheduled. All of his work looks excellent and because he is so good at his work, there was very little sanding and minimal drywall dust. The last time we had drywall done by someone else, the whole house was covered in drywall dust. This time there was very little and confined to the rooms he worked in. I definitely will use Cory again and have recommended him to my sister.
