They ordered the wrong color of siding, ordering yellow instead of tan. The final work was no better. The roof started leaking in less than 1 month but they had run off and left the job unfinished. Instead of taking down the old soffits, they left them up and installed unvented soffits which caused major structural damage. It cost me another $18,000 to fix the damage done by the yahoos at KBN Home Improvement. The main contractor was Carlton Williams, aka Carl Williams. He was a sub-contractor for Jesse Dewitt of KBN Home Improvement.

It started ok but KBN abandoned the project half-way through. They never completed the installation of the range hood which was supposed to be vented but the venting was never installed. To this day there is a hole where they did not install the hood! The kitchen cabinets do not work, none of the doors close correctly and the drawers are falling apart. See the provided pictures. They left the project with the floor completely unfinished and the kitchen sink not working. I had to install the door hardware, flooring, fix the sink and install the sink. They also failed to pull permits for the project.

KBN Home Improvement left the work unfinished. They left their sub-contractors unpaid. Half-way through the project they dropped their insurance so there was no recourse. The principal of the firm, Jesse Dewitt is under investigation by the State of Michigan for operating without a license and without insurance. DO NOT USE KBN Home Improvement. The initial bid was competitive and in line with the competition but slightly lower. Throughout the project though the contractors kept making mistakes that wasted tons of time and materials. The final cost was 180% of the original quote! When Jesse Dewitt & Darrin Chapin walked off the job in June I still had another $50,000 in repairs left unfinished and had to hire another company to clean up their mess. They were also 6 months over schedule which meant I had extra rent in our old building.
