Design 1 Salon Spa - Cascade

I woke up on a Saturday with searing back pain so I decided to contact a massage location we had used once before.  It was OK (not awesome just OK) before so why not.  They found and appointment and I raced out the door to get to the appointment that was in 30 minutes on the other side of town.  Over half way to the other side of town I get a phone call saying ?We are sorry, it was a mistake to schedule that.  We can offer you at $10 discount for your trouble?.  Well my former friends I can get a $10 coupon on the website.  I turned back around, drove home and am sitting here in agony writing this review.  Careful with this place? They obviously have issues.

I normally go to Design 1 for other services (haircut). I typically go to another facility for a massage, but they did not have an opening. It had been a while since I got a massage at Design 1, so I thought I'd give it a try again. The therapist was prompt and professional; the music was relaxing and at the appropriate volume. However, you could hear occasional talking going on outside the door. Also, the therapist used *extreme* pressure throughout the session. While she did ask me how much pressure to use and I said I was able to take a bit of pressure, I did not expect it to be so extreme. I have gotten massages before and this massage was the most extreme in terms of pressure. She did not seem to notice that I winced several times and did deep breathing to manage the pain. I was extremely sore the next day (I did hydrate adequately after the session). It took 2 days for the soreness to go away. I will stay with Design 1 just for haircuts.

I called at the last minute to see if the salon had any openings. They did, and I was in the neighborhood, so I arrived and was greeted promptly, checked in, and offered a beverage. The waiting area was clean and relaxing. My only complaint is that I had to go back to the receptionist after waiting for 15 minutes to find out what was causing the delay. As soon as I inquired, they sorted things out and I was taken back for my manicure. The woman who did my nails was very nice and worked quickly and efficiently but thoroughly. She did a spectacular job.

This was a wonderful experience! Our spirits were lifted and we will definitely return for more massages.

I love it there. They have excellent service.

Overall, I love Design 1, but I would not go back there for a massage.
