Wonderful, honest, professional!!! Let me start by saying Hank is my guardian angel. Hank, his son, David and crew were a pleasure to work with. Timely, worked hard to install drains on one wall in my basement where water came in during heavy rains. I was quoted $2,200.00. Hank and his crew did an extra 2 feet of drains. When they were finished I asked Hank what amount should I make the check out for and he said, “as I quoted $2,200.00”, I was grateful and very appreciative as I am in a fixed income. I want to add before I found Hank I was quoted $19,300.00 by a major basement waterproofing firm. They were going to put drains on 4 walls of my basement - 3 walls never had issues with water. So when I say, “Hank is my guardian angel”, you understand why!

Very happy with the results. Have had no leaks for almost a year now. What a relief and a blessing. There were times it took an 8 gal wet dry vac 60 full loads to get all the water up before the repair. Hank and his crew worked very hard, were efficient, made little mess, were friendly and business like. I highly recommend this company and thank them for having such such a positive impact on my life.

Hank and his staff were honest, friendly, and efficient. Everyone else quoted me between two and three times would hate calling me. It was because they were trying to sell me things that I did not need. Hank told me the truth from his very first assessment through the end of the project. He was prompt, timely, and communicate regularly. I would highly recommend city basement for any of your waterproofing, basement, or foundation issues.

Great! We have had several rains of over 1 inch in 24 hrs and not a drop in our basement.

I called Hank and he was able to schedule us the same day (and an hour and 45 minutes from when I called).  He arrived on time.  We showed him the areas inside where we'd had water leaking in and then he went out to walk the perimeter of the house.  After viewing the problems areas from the outside of the house, Hank said that he would love to help us, but that our yard came up too high (all the way to the siding), was supposed to be 2 inches lower, and that he couldn't even see the foundation.  Hank recommended we have a landscaping service lower the area next to the house 2 inches and then change the grade of the yard to slope away from the house.

The job took 2 days. They were prompt, courteous, and cleaned up completely. They even replanted a tree from the front yard to the back yard! Basement was dry after a rain storm the night before. I would recommend this company to anyone - and I have.

Hank and one of his crew came out and resealed one basement wall, as well as fixing the exit line from the sump pump. They also plated a couple of areas that had a slight amount of moisture due to an extreme snow melt-off and heavy rain.
We had one problem with moisture at the wall that was sealed. How, we have no idea as Hank and his crew member filled the dug hole with water to proof the seal before refilling it by hand. He came back out and injected the joint in the foundation from inside and outside. Hank came back out at a later date and plated this area to be doubly sure.
Hank did a wonderful job. He is very polite, extremely helpful in answering questions, and goes beyond the extra mile to make his customers happy and to ensure success. We would gladly use Hank again if needed, and highly recommend him to anyone looking for an honest, hardworking, and highly knowledgeable contractor.
I did not include the cost of the service as I couldn't remember the exact amount. It was very reasonable though for the amount of work that they performed. The date is approximate as well for last contact.

The guys hand dug the dirt to the base of my foundation, fixed the crack, sealed it and put all the dirt (and flowers) back where came from. If I need basement work done again, I would have no hesitation calling them again. I'm very pleased!

We had a crack in the basement wall that allowed water to seep down the interior wall that caused quite a bit of damage to a finished family room. Hank from City Basement was very helpful and honest diagnosing our problem. He came out the day after we called, which was the day after we had all the rain in early January. He was very up front about the solution and didn't try to sell us something we didn't need. He noticed a second crack that wasn't a problem, yet. He attempted to come out for the repair 3 or 4 times, but the single digit temps just wouldn't allow it. We finally got a date where the temps would cooperate and a crew showed up as planned. They were at our home about 3 hours and made quick work of the problem.
Time will tell if the issue is actually resolved, but I have the utmost confidence based on the knowledge that Hank brought to the table and his honesty. If there is a problem, City Basement offers a lifetime warranty on the repair.
I would recommend City Basement to anyone with basement moisture problems.

Hank came out within 2 days of my call and gave us a good bid. But hey arrived 2 weeks later, completed the project, and left everything in a neat and orderly manner. He warranties project and will come again with any problems. He was very easy to deal with and I would recommend.

After heavy rains experienced in Grand Rapids, Michigan in April 2013, I went to Angie's List to select a basement waterproofing company. I had a previous contact who had gone out of business. Hank Houseman came out right away that evening. Within 10 minutes he had discovered that our sump pump switch was not working as well as that water was coming in around the main water pipe that had been sealed incorrectly. He quoted me a price right away that evening via email ($830) and described how he would fix it. After giving it some thought, I also requested replacement of the sump pump which was about 13 years old. Hank set a date to come out, later notified me that he would be a day delayed. True to his word he came out, dug the hole, discovered a large opening around the water main, and repaired it. The total bill was $1030 with replacement of the sump pump. He also provided me with a transferable warranty which shows that he stands behind his work. I would highly recommend City Basement.
