Let me begin by stating that I have no connection with the insurance provider listed at the address above (4100 Embassy Drive SE), as my Citizens/Hannover coverage was provided by an independent broker in Rockford, MI (with whom I am quite satisfied).
My problem is with Hannover/Citizens Insurance, and more specifically, with their recent disallowance of a minor claim I made as a result of an incident my son had while driving my vehicle this past winter.  He slid on ice and hit a curb at the side of the road, causing damage in an area limited to the right wheel and immediate undercarriage.
The impact destroyed a segment of the undercarriage at the wheel, bent the wheel/rim and destroyed the tire.  After repairing/replacing the undercarriage, wheel and tire, it was clear that there was remaining damage of an undermined nature, as I was experiencing a shuddering and related problems as I would apply the breaks.  There was no hint of this problem prior to the incident this winter.
In response to my claim, Citizens sent an appraiser to the garage handling this latest (and hopefully final) repair.  The appraiser determined that the damage was due to "normal wear" despite the strongly held opinion of the highly qualified mechanic who held to his expert opinion that "this is not the result of normal wear; it was caused by some sort of impact".
Citizens will not honor the claim, as they make their decision based on the questionable claim of their appraiser, whose job it is of course to save the insurer the expense of a payout.
Bad decions, as their payout would have been a mere $450.00, which is minor to them, but significant for me.  As a result, I will be canceling my auto and home coverage with Citizens/Hannover and they will lose a lifetime of monthly premium payments.
Congratulations Citizens/Hannover, you saved $450.00, while losing potential premiums over the next couple of decades (say, 25 years) that would exceed $42,300.00!
I strongly advise against purchasing any insurance policy from the Hannover/Citizens group.
