Received an initial consultation in Oct. 2016. Chop provided an invoice for trimming several trees. We also asked about treatment for a struggling maple in the backyard, the arborist stated it needed borer control injections. In Dec. 2016 several Chop employees came to our house to do the trimming. I contacted them afterwards noting that one tree had not received much trimming, they noted they would follow up with me about that and the borer treatment in the spring. I contacted them in July 2017, requesting they treat the struggling maple. A different arborist came out and looked at the tree. At that time he noted that it most likely was misdiagnosed, and instead had Verticillium wilt. We discussed nutrient/fertilizer options for that tree and another. He made an offhand comment that they might have spread wilt to the other trees when trimming, if they had not cleaned their tools properly. I expressed concern about this, wanting to be able to confirm whether or not they had spread wilt. Received a call from him later noting that he had checked into it and they had not trimmed the diseased tree in December, so not to worry about the wilt having been spread. This was a frustrating response due to the fact that it was not the truth. I then received an invoice for borer treatment on the struggling maple. After pointing out that this was not the service provided, received an updated invoice for the same price, just working changed from borer treatment to fertilization/nutrient. I requested to speak to a manager. He noted that since they made a mistake, they were only charging me the price of one treatment, but had applied fertilizer to another tree as well. During that conversation, he also clarified for the first time that verticillium wilt was not a treatable disease and the tree would ultimately need to be cut down. In addition, by summer once the leaves have grown in, one of the trees trimmed in Dec. was touching our roof as well as our neighbors roof. We have since then trimmed the limb on our property ourselves.
