Great!  This guy is like real life Tony Stark (Iron Man).  He's confident, witty with a bit of snark, hilarious, and good natured about helping you buy (or sell, I imagine) a house.  He doesn't mess around with trying to get you to buy a house you can't or don't want to afford.  We absolutely loved working with him, and whenever we end up moving, we'll definitely be calling him up again.  Wholeheartedly recommend!!

Chad was a great agent, especially for us as homebuyers that lived out of town. Before we even started looking at houses, he drove us around to different neighborhoods and towns to really get a feel for what we wanted, and helped us narrow down our ridiculous list of "must-haves" to a list that actually made sense. He worked with our small budget and was available on weekends, which was the only time we could look at houses. He definitely knows his stuff - and was able to tell us about quality of construction, right down to the small details. This was really helpful for us, as we had never bought a house before. Best of al, he had a great sense of humor, had our best interests at heart (instead of just a paycheck, like some realtors) and was able to get us to look at our options realistically. We would definitely use Chad again.

Chad is awesome. We picked him after reading the reviews here (and generally thinking most Realtors we had been talking with were wall flowers during the showings). Chad has a construction background, so while we are looking at bedroom sizes, he's looking at roofs and floor boards. He'll tell you what he honestly thinks (which is refreshing) and gave us all the hand-holding we needed (as first time buyers). Never pushy, despite showing us houses for many months - he really wanted to find us "our" house.

We met Chad at an open house he was holding several years ago.  Our friends had told us about him, but we hadn't officially met him until the Open House.  We instantly liked him and understood why they insisted we HAD to use him.  He understands the Grand Rapids market better than anyone I've met and he's probably been in every house in the GR area at least once if not multiple times.  He has a unique way of knowing what's available that's not even on the market.  His clients trust him because he gives his honest opinion and really takes the time to understand what we are wanting/needing in a home.  We kind of have a standing "for sale" sign in our yard for when Chad discovers our "perfect" home ... which I'm thinking is a daunting task for him. I would highly recommend Chad for several reasons: 1. He understands the market, what is currently available and what is coming available. 2. He understands the older and newer homes, how they are made (both good and bad), what flaws to look for that end up costing lots of money, and has connections post-sale to people in GR to help get home projects done and 3. He truly puts his client first.  Its not just about selling or buying a house with Chad. Its about finding the perfect house for each client and if that house isn't available, then he let's you know that.  He puts the client before the house, which isn't always the case in real estate.  Its not just a sale to him.
That happened this time around for us. I really wanted to move and Chad had 3 months to find us exactly what I wanted in forest hills, within our budget, that had enough space and the right layout.  He really didn't want to see us sell our current house (its pretty amazing), but he did it anyway.  He told us about a house even before it hit the market.  He said it was exactly what we were looking for even though I fought him the whole way.  He was right in the end and had the buyers for our house no fallen through, I'd be in Forest Hills now.  Unfortunately, our buyers didn't cooperate and the stars didn't line up at this time.  Chad then helped us put the right people in place to get our current house in shape before my baby was born last week.  He didn't make a dime off all his hard work the last 5 months, but he never let me feel like he minded.  He actually said he was glad the way it worked out b/c he hated to see us move in the first place.
We are forever clients of Chads and everyone we meet who needs to buy or sell a house, we recommend him.  You won't find a better Realtor in Grand Rapids.

Chad Sytsma acted  as our buyer agent in our recent home purchase.  Living outside the Grand Rapids area, Chad was methodical in helping to find us our new home.  After meeting with Chad and visiting a few homes that were currently on the market,  we returned to our home in southeast Michigan.  By computer, Chad kept us updated on a near daily basis of homes that fit our criteria. When a home peeked our interest, rather than make the drive across state Chad would preview the home for us, giving it a thumbs up or thumbs down.  We greatly appreciated this effort on his part.  Chad's critical eye in home structure and condition helped us to eliminate homes from consideration.  When the home that we eventually purchased came on the market,  Chad's true professionalism and love for the art of the deal came to light.  Through Chad's knowledge of the market, we believe we negotiated the best possible price for our new home.  Chad was quick to respond to phone calls and e-mails,  was patient with all of our questions and concerns, and is great at "hand holding" when negotiating gets tense. We feel that Chad is a true real estate professional, puts his client first,  acts with integrity,  and we highly recommend him to anyone looking to buy a home in the Grand Rapids area.

Chad is an exceptional person and real estate agent! I have elderly parents who needed to sell their home that they had lived in for approximately 50 years, a very delicate situation and Chad's handling of the situation was astounding. My dad is not an easy person to win over, but Chad did just that. He was honest every step of the way, so you knew what to expect, no surprises. This was an unbelieveably easy buisness transaction that could have been a nightmere, with Chad always giving 200% to make sure everything came together seamlessly.

Chad was outstanding! Chad and I had been looking for my
first house for 6 plus months and on multiple occasions Chad had talked me out
of a property I liked. These properties in hindsight where going to be trouble
for me sooner rather than later. A reluctance to put someone into the first
house they show interest in is a rare and desirable quality when choosing a
relator. If Chad had other clients I wouldn?t have known, his personable nature
and prompt attention to his clients sets the bar for others in this field. I
could go on and on about the things I like about my relator or I could just
tell you that I now consider him a family friend and would recommend him to
family and close friends.  

We were looking for a somewhat tricky combination for our new house--a large, sunny lot for gardening, an historic home with around 2400 square feet, and a location on the north side of town.  Chad took the time to listen and understand what we were after. We never felt hustled or pressured to consider homes that were not what we were looking for. Although he's careful to say that he's not a builder, he does have a lot of construction experience and is not shy about providing critical feedback about structural issues he spots.  This was really valuable for the older homes we were viewing.  Chad is proactive, responsive, honest, patient, smart, and a capable negotiator.  We felt we were in very good hands during the whole process.
At the end of the day, the house we wanted had been on the market in the months prior to our home search, but was not for sale when we were ready to buy.  Chad steadily worked with the sellers and their agent and was eventually able to get us in to see it.  He thought through how to tailor the offer according to the unique characteristics of the transaction (e.g., scheduling the appraisal before inspection because there was some concern it would not appraise right, making the most of our ability to offer an extended period before possession).  In the end, we landed a home that exceeded our expectations.  It's truly our dream home, and we have Chad to thank for the technical expertise that made it happen.  He earned our trust.  I will not only turn to Chad for any future real estate transactions, but will take him up on his offer to call for advice when we are doing work on this home.

Chad is amazing!!!! Chad is so wonderful and he helped me every step of the way buying my first home by myself.  He helped to keep me grounded when I started to look at crazy options outside of what I really needed and wanted.  I would start to get dreamy eyes and he would just look at me and say "focus" and things like " what are your goals". He just truly wanted to help me find the perfect home for me and not the most expense one to get the commission.  He was so patient and he is full of wonderful information that helped me make my decision. I also think he is truly a very nice person and I would recommend him to anyone looking to buy or sell a home.

Chad is the kind of real estate agent and neighborhood advocate that you dream of meeting: responsive, down to earth, honest, generous, and reliable. I can't say enough good things about the guy -- after he helped me buy my current home, I recommended him to four other friends who went and bought houses with him as well. I was a first time home buyer, and his strong appraising eye taught me an immeasurable amount about what to look for (and what to avoid).  He gave me the space to make my own decisions but was always there to support them. Ever since I bought my home, he's stayed in contact, offering tools and resources. Above all of this, he is an active presence in the Eastown community, volunteering for community events and basically putting his time and energy into making the city a special place to live. I can't imagine a better real estate agent. You're done looking. This is the guy.

Chad was truly professional. Very friendly, down to earth, a great person to work with all around. He is familiar with Grand Rapids (including East Grand Rapids and Eastown). He was excellent with communication - kept close touch with me and the lines of communication stayed open. He is involved in the community himself as well. I felt very comfortable contacting him with any question I had. Would work with him again in an instant. Should I decide to buy in Grand Rapids, Chad will certainly be the agent I choose.

Chad worked hard, but with patience and a positively infectious optimism. He is a good listener, using that skill to find properties suitable for every client.  In addition, he is able to give honest feedback about buyers' potential choices.  Chad's knowledge of real estate, housing, building and design brings an enhanced level of service to his clients.  It is with pleasure and honor that I can give this review.  We have been the fortunate recipients of Chad's expertise and have purchased a home that Goldilocks would agree "this is just right".  Couldn't have worked with a finer person.

We think we are pretty demanding customers-- we had some specifics in mind.  Chad was very patient as we looked a large number of houses.  He was very good at letting us express our opinions while providing objective advice and feedback.  We never felt pressured.  Chad was very good at helping us look past our first impressions of a house and think about things like ability to make improvements, resale value, etc.  We often had our young children with us when viewing houses and Chad was very patient and clever at coming up with ways to get the kids involved (or at least distracted while we looked).  Throughout the process, Chad responded to our many emails, calls, and texts, and did an excellent job of staying calm and not making an offer on a house out of desparation.  In the end, we were able to find an amazing house at an excellent price.  Chad helped us close the deal even when the seller's agent got a bit nervous.  We hope to be in this house for a long time, but if we ever need to buy or sell a house again, there is no question that we will call Chad.

My experience with him in buying the house was great.  He was very knowledgeable about houses in general.  For example, he was able to look and see where some potential problems might be with different aspects of the house.  He was great about negotiating and keeping on top of the paperwork, deadlines, and those types of things.  He was very professional and really great to work with.  I would definitely use him again.

He was very, very good. Originally we were not going to go with any one realtor but after we met with him and he showed us some properties, we decided to go through him for anything we looked at. He was extremely helpful and we didn't have any complaints. We have bought and sold previously and never been enthralled with the real estate person on either end. He changed our minds about that. He was very good. He knew exactly what we wanted. We have a motor home and we needed to have a house where we could park it. Because we were coming from a distance, we would find properties online and he would go out to see if the motor home could be parked at the houses. We wouldn't bother looking at them if that wasn't the case. We were very impressed. We would use him again and we have even recommended him to other people.
