Wanted to leave a great review for the team at Cascade Hospital for Animals! Today our pup Sparky had his annual Senior Wellness checkup with Dr. Abel. Dr. Abel took great care to exam our senior pup and spent time discussing his chronic health conditions as well as creating a plan for his continuing care. The entire staff we worked with during the appointment were great! They showed great compassion for our pup and his health needs. We were comfortable that our pup was in good hands and will continue to use Cascade Hospital for Animals as the only vet practice for our pup!

Cascade provided great care and service to ensure Max, who is an elder dog, was able to recover comfortably from his dental procedure. Max has been going to Cascade and Breton Village for about 3 years and we have received great service each time.

Currently, i have 2 dogs and 2 cats. Cascade Hospital has always been professional, reliable, capable. I could not ask for a better veternary and boarding service. I like that there is a vet available when my pets board, so any emergencies will be handled. My dogs love the stay and play.

Cascade Hospital for Animals has been my primary veterinary hospital for my 2 cats since 1995.  The staff is always friendly and professional.  The veterinarians always discuss any treatment options with me prior to administering them.  The location is always clean and the staff is always friendly.

The entire organization is professional, kind, skilled, informative, helpful and compassionate. The phone operators, the reception desk, the groomers, the vet techs, the kennel staff, the physical therapy group, and even the maintenance people go out of their way to assist you and do whatever is necessary to help your pet. There is boarding, grooming, physical and water therapy, dentistry, specialized surgery, and even puppy training classes. I have taken my dog to Michigan State and to highly rated dog neurologists in the state, and no one can compare to the level of experience that is embodied in this group of doctors. The premises is always immaculate, there is always a vet that can see your pet the same day, a pharmacy always open, doggie day care with the kindest associates you will ever find, and several attendants on duty to care for pets being boarded in their spotless kennels. If you love your pet, go to Cascade Hospital for Animals. And the best part is that their prices are very competitive, fair, and you are never overcharged. There is a senior citizen discount as well.

They were reasonably priced and very good service. It is a very concerned outfit. They were kind to the dog. The dog was happy to be there. She walked in with a smile on her face. It is all good indications.

The place was extremely clean and very tidy which was nice.  The tech and vet was good but what I didn't care for is that they took the dog out of the room (out of my sight) for her shots, heartworm test etc.  Also they gave the dog a 6 month bordetella shot.  I have never heard of that before as it was always 12 months.  It seemed like they were trying to hit me with 2 office visits.  Since that seems out of the norm I wish they would have asked me what I preferred instead of just giving her the 6 month.  Had the dog been in the room with me I think we could have discussed it.
Response from CASCADE HOSPITAL FOR ANIMALS
"[member name removed], Thank you for your comments on your visit with us. Let me first apologize for us taking Sage out of the room without first receiving your permission to do so. We typically will take pets out of the room, as they do better away from their owners. However if you, or any other client would rather have us perform the services in the room, we are happy to do that as well. You also mentioned some concerns with the bordetella vaccine. The bordetella vaccine is a lifestyle vaccine, so if Sage is groomed, boarded or attends daycare or a dog park, we would recommend the vaccine be given every six months. I reviewed the lifestyle question you answered, and Sage does not participate in any of those, so an annual vaccine is appropriate. I understand that the summary report you were given does mention 6 month shot, and that is a clerical error. Our reminder system has it listed as an annual, and there is no need to have the vaccine be given every six months unless there is a change in the lifestyle. If you have any additional questions, please feel free to give us a call. Thank you for bringing Sage in to see us. We look forward to our relationship in helping you give Sage a long and happy life."

The first experience was very good.   Dr. Anderson was personable as was her tech.   I arrived at Breton Village Clinic and was greeted quickly and shown into an exam room promptly.   The tech arrived to take my observations and do a prelim exam on my cat.   Then a few minutes later the vet came in.   She looked through my previous vet records and did her own examination and suggested bloodwork (which I knew was going to be coming).  She gave me estimated costs and went from there.  She told me she would call me on possibly Monday and likely tuesday with the results.  I got a call on Monday and it was confirmed my cat had diabetes and needed to be on insulin.   She then made time for me first thing in the morning at Breton Village to see my cat and show me how to administer the drug.   She took the time with me to make sure I had the procedure down and answered all of my questions.   It's because of her that I decided to bring in my dog to have a lump that was growing looked at and vaccinations updated.
That second experience was not as positive.   About a month after my first visit I had saved up enough money so I could have the next animal looked at.   My appointment was scheduled for a clinic that I cannot get to (I am unable to drive any  distances) however I did not know that.  So I showed up at Breton Village to find out that I was not expected there.  To their credit, they worked me in to the schedule (not that there was anyone there).  I saw Dr. Pawlowsky.  However it wasn't for at least thirty minutes.   Then the vet tech got a little snooty at me about my dog's weight and vaccinations (I knew about the weight and the cause and was rectifying it, and I knew about the vaccinations and was not doing one because of my pet's lifestyle).  Then the vet tech got even more disapproving that I hadn't brought in a stool sample when I had not been instructed to do so and wasn't there to get a fecal exam.   In addition, I have two dogs and physical disabilities that prevent me from following my dogs around the yard waiting for them to poop.   When I finally saw the vet, 45 minutes later, he was brusque with me.  He felt my dog's lump and then led my dog away to get a sample.  He came back in with my VERY relieved dog and held up a syringe filled with a yellowish opaque liquid and asked me if I knew what it was.  It looked like pus and I said so.  He pounced on my lack of knowledge and said "No, it's cystic fluid!" in a tone that was very superior.   I'm not a doctor, nor do I play one on TV, so my knowledge of the various liquids the body produces is limited.   He claimed he aspirated the cyst but it was still mostly there.   But he also billed me for it.   One half a syringe full is not a full aspiration in my book.   I will NOT be seeing this vet again.
If you had asked me if I would recommend this vet after my first experience, I would say yes, wholeheartedly.  Now, I would give a conditional yes.  I have two more animals, they have two more chances.   The schedulers need to do a better job of asking/ascertaining which clinic people want to go to and if a customer has a certain preference due to distance or other needs.   I will NEVER see Dr. Pawlowsky again or his vet tech and would counsel any people looking into Cascade Hospital for Animals and Breton Village Clinic to avoid him at all costs.

"Customer, I apologize that in your most recent visit with us, that we did not fulfill your expectations. I have brought your concerns up to the individuals that you mentioned, and they feel terrible over how you felt your appointment went. We hope to use this as a learning experience for us, as we value the relationships we have with our clients and their pets. We strive to provide an environment where we work with our clients to educate and inform them on caring for their pet(s), not to belittle them or make them feel uncomfortable. I hope that this was just an isolated incident and we can continue to meet the needs of our clients to the level that they expect. Thank you for your feedback, we take it seriously and will do everything we can to make your future encounters with us a more enjoyable experience. Paul – Hospital Manager"

Cascade Hospital for Animals is the only place I would bring my pets.  Dr. Vander Wall is one of the veteranerians there and is an incredible person!  She, along with all of the vet techs and front desk personell are extremely caring and compassionate.  They recognize the faces of the clients and patients that walk in the door each and every time.  Dr. Vander Wall has offered on numerous occasions to come in on her day off or stay late to accomodate scheduling and ensure that she, personally, follows through with cases that she starts.  It is truly an amazing organization.

My two-year old Golden Retriever has been having  a run of bad luck recently with respect to various allergies, infections and the like.  I was able to consult by phone with Dr. Laura Sullivan about some behavioral issues that my dog was displaying, with concern that some of his medications might be a factor.  We agreed that I would monitor the situation for at least a few more days.  When he continued to display the troubling symptoms, I took him in for a urinalysis.  This wouldn't be a big deal, except that I was able to take him in on a Sunday, and they were able to have a technician retrieve a sample from my dog quickly and without discomfort for any of us.  So, on Monday morning we had our results and Dr. Sullivan called me to discuss future treatment.     I've had many pets cared for over the years here, and I haven't found a veteranarian there who I wouldn't recommend.  The staff of vet techs and assistants are always professional, effective, and compassionate.  Clearly, I'm a big fan.
