From the very beginning, no show for first appointment to no permit pulled by company to failing to install header required by code and multiple problems with installation and local building inspector requiring them to remove door and reinstall after required rework. Company employed sub contractors to perform work without their supervision. would never hire this company for any work again. Company has management problems. This was a bad experience.

Things went well. We had a roof leak, and they came out within a week to get us taken care of. They actually dropped off all the supplies the day after we signed the contract, but then we got record rainfall for the next three/four days so they were delayed through no fault of theIr own. Insulation took a little while longer to get scheduled, but only because lots of other people were also getting ready for winter! A couple of the new shingles got damaged during the insulation installation, but they were out to replace them within two days, no problems at all. If we decide to do the gutters this spring, we'll be contacting them again.

estimate guy was very personable. However, he did not do a very good job explaining to me that certain parts of my roof would only be replaced "as needed." Also, when I asked him about mold removal he said it would be taken care of, but did not include it on the contract. The man told me I should expect install in about 2-3 weeks.. For 3 weeks I did not hear from Avalon about scheduling my install. (I called on week 2 and had no updates, and then called them again on week 3 and they told me they would like to come out that Friday and drop off materials in order to install the following Monday (week 4) . Nobody came by to drop off materials that day. I wasn't confident that they would follow through with install the following Monday at this point, and I was surprised to see installers Monday afternoon when I returned home for the day. I tried to ask the gentlemen a couple of questions, they did not appear to speak English, so I called Avalon and spoke to their Service Rep about some concerns of mine. He ended up transferring me to the manager, who was VERY rude to me. He CONTINUOUSLY talked over me, WOULD NOT even consider the verbal agreement that his rep had made with me about mold removal (it wasn't on the contract!) and tried several times to make me admit I was wrong about what I understood the customer service rep had explained to me. He admit that his roofers speak English but were pretending not to, because they didn't want to speak to me. The 4-6 hour job they estimated took 3 days (for the record, it did not rain that week) and Avalon did NOT clean up afterwards. I had to clean up all the pieces of decking, roofing screws and pieces of old shingle. I will not be recommending this company to any of my friends, nor will not be using them again in the future for any other work on my home. Update: Avalon contacted me by phone multiple times to settle the amount due, despite the fact that they had NEVER sent me a bill. They also mentioned each time this negative review I had left them, and offered me a DISCOUNT to REMOVE it. I told them to send me the bill, and I would think about it. A week later, my invoice was stuffed in my mailbox. The envelope was crumpled, it wasn't closed, and was obvious it hadn't been mailed as there was no stamp on it. I called Avalon a couple days later and the other manager had NO CLUE what I was referring to in regards to the discount I was offered. I never did find out what they were going to offer me as far as a discount goes. I just had the invoice paid, knowing I never wanted to deal with this unorganized, UNPROFESSIONAL company ever again. ALSO, and I think I failed to mention that their customer rep that came out and gave me a quote told me the roof came with a 25 yr labor and 50 yr material warranty. That it was transferrable to the next owner of my house, and that I would never need to have any more work done on my roof. When I asked Avalon for my warranty paperwork, they told me they wouldn't give it to me until I paid the bill. (Which I hadn't recieved.) Turns out they only offer a 1 year warranty, which is stated right on the back of my contract. IF the rep hadn't lied to me in the first place about the warranty, the mold removal, replacing of the decking, ETC I would not have replaced my ENTIRE ROOF. All I I needed originally, was flashing installed around my chimney. PLEASE TAKE MY ADVICE AND DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY, IT'S NOT WORTH THE HASSLE!!! I did my research and used them knowing they had a great ratig on Angie's List, and they ended up providing me with VERY POOOR service. I have a feeling they have offered to pay off other customers to have their poor reviews taken down also, and that is the reason why their ratings are so high.

Avalon was competitively priced and convenient. Jeremy arrived at our home for the inspection and diagnosed our leaks quickly and took the time to explain why we were experiencing them and what Avalon would do to solve them. The installation team arrived early as promised and got the project done in one day. It was as painless as can be. The roof looks great. Very pleased with Avalon.

Roof replacement not needed and had to fight tooth and nail for any type of refund. Finally after several frustrating calls and no follow up we were refunded the full amount. Sales person not professional at all.

Communication was excellent. I had serval points of contact I could call if I needed anything. I received a quote from Avalon over a year ago and could not make my mind up on completing the project at the time. They called me a year later and honored the same price quote which sealed the deal for me. The product was right and Randy exaplined the entire roofing process to me. Excellent work. I am happy with my new roof.

It took about a month from signing on the dotted line to the finished roof, but Avalon was worth the wait. My roof looks amazing and I no longer have any leaks and rotted boards. I am very happy with my new roof and the peace of mind that it will last the rest of my lifetime.

It was simple. The two guys who showed up for the estimate were friendly and got my jokes. I mean how often does Jesus walk into your home? I was due for a new roof, but they still took the time to examine my roof and explained my trouble spots. The install crew was quick. My roofs looks good.

Justin was wonderful, knowledgeable, and arrived on time. Installation was top notch and completed in less than a day. The whole thing was smooth and easy. I know I’ll be using them on future projects as they come up. Thank you Avalon.

Everything was efficient and right on the timeline they presented. I was impressed with everyone. They made me feel like their only customer. Larry was very knowledgeable pertaining this the roofing process and shingles that would last in Michigan weather. He introduced me to brand new products and exaplined them easily. I was shocked when the price was $3,000 less than my other estimate. He reaffirmed everything the prior estimate told me and explained more. The crew was fast. My roof was completed in one day. Only drawback is the damaged marigolds around my home due to the tarps they put down to protect my home while tearing off. Otherwise, highly recommend using them.

Everything with my roof install went as planned and the finished product was excellent. They stripped and replaced my entire roof in a single day and took good care in making sure my surrounding yard and fixtures were protected from damage during the work. I was at home the entire day during the work and found the crew to be very professional and helpful when I had questions. Awesome. The house was built in the 1880's. Tons of character, but needed a lot of work. It was most economical to do it all at once. The guys were super hard workers, honest, and didn't cut any corners. They were proud of their work and never cut corners. They had to rebuild parts of the roof, but did it right rather than putting a bandaid on it. Larry Sidebotham supervised the project--super responsive, made it easy to understand, and was really straightforward. We had priced the project out with other companies. Avalon's price was competive. The thing that stood out for us was the quality and how they solved problems as they arose instead of just putting blinders on and cranking out the job.

Avalon was very friendly. I had multiple people out for estimates on my roof and when Ryan came out I could tell he was genuine in what he was explaining. He walked my roof and explained the damage I had present. He made me feel comfortable with the company and process. I was pleased that when I decided I wanted to finance it was simple and I had an answer in what seemed like minutes. When the installation crew arrived, they started tearing off my old roof right away. The whole roof was completed in two days. Minimal landscaping was damaged around my home, and a few nails were found, but it was nothing to get excited about. The new roof truly finishes off my natural cedar home.

Everythi g was great. Larry meet us at our house went over cost and how things worked, was very too thw point. No nonsense selling us,what we didn't need. The team they contra Ted worked meticusually for 2 days. They cleaned up well and were super polite. The bad service started when we called to have someone come out and fix a gutter that the crew damaged during installation. Took weekly phone calls and almost 100 days after roof completion for them to come out and literally make a 6 minute repair. Communication was lapse and it took a email and a phone call to the owner to get someone out to the house to fix it.

I recently purchased a small house that will be used as a rental property. The interior was nicely finished, but the exterior was in rough shape, requiring a new roof and new siding. Based on their stellar reviews on Angie's list, I requested a bid from Avalon. My first impression of Avalon was very favorable, as the representative who came out to provide the estimate was prompt and he arrived with numerous samples for me to peruse. He explained in great detail the quality of the materials that they use, as well as the building methods they employ, both of which exceed normal standards and enable them to guarantee their work and labor. (I appreciate quality.) He and I discussed some of my specific concerns regarding the roof, including the poor ventilation in the attic space, a few cracked rafters, and the sagging roofline on one section of the house. He was able to show me a novel product that they could use to help address the ventilation problem - a product that I was previously unfamiliar with. While I was reviewing the samples, the representative took the necessary measurements, wrote a detailed list of the work to be performed on the roof, and provided me with an on-the-spot estimate for the roof portion alone. (I was informed that the estimate for the siding would follow shortly.) The bid seemed high (but I am new to the area, so I had no frame of reference), so I indicated that I would be in touch after I had received a few more quotes. He then stated that two roofing crews were slated to work in this area the following week and he could offer me a discount if I would be willing to accept their bid so he could fill the vacant slot the following week. (This should have raised a red flag, but it didn't.) After some negotiation, we ultimately settled on a price that was $2600.00 less than the initial bid. ("Win/Win," I was thinking.) The following week, I reached out to confirm the date of the re-roof, at which point I was informed that, rather than Wednesday or Thursday, my house had been put on the schedule for Friday. When no crew arrived on Friday, I contacted Avalon again and was told that a miscommunication had occurred and that the crew would be arriving on Monday or Tuesday...but they would let me know definitively later that day. I received no additional communication that day and no crew arrived on Monday. Needless to say, at that point, I was irritated; I genuinely felt as if I had been duped - that Avalon never intended to do the work the following week, as initially promised, and that the "good deal" I received for "filling a vacant spot" was nothing more than a ploy. I expressed my frustration with them in an e-mail. Almost immediately following my e-mail, the phone calls and text messages began. When we finally connected, I was informed that the crew would be arriving first thing the following morning and it was confirmed that I did not need to be present when they arrived. Although no mention of my e-mail was made during this call, the gentleman I spoke with was very polite and apologetic, and he accepted full responsibility for the breakdown in communication. On my lunch break the following day, I stopped by the house to check on the progress. To my surprise, the project had been subcontracted out to another company - a little tidbit of information I discovered when I asked why the edge vents (the novel product) had not been installed on the house. (Apparently, this information was not communicated to the company actually doing the work.) The crew had already knocked out half of the roof at that point, so they had to wait for somebody from Avalon to deliver the product to the site. While there, I also noticed that the roofline on the one section of the house was still sagging significantly. It was explained to me that they improved the sagging as best as they could - using struts to help brace/raise the low points - but that they would have had to tear down that section of the roof entirely and rebuild it from scratch in order to improve it cosmetically - a job that would have doubled my expenses without improving function or durability. Perhaps I'm naïve, but wouldn't some type of shim have been a simple, yet economical way to address the cosmetic problem under the circumstance? (Admittedly, I did not discuss this particular option with them beforehand, but one expects the experts to come up with such solutions.) Despite the setback, the entire re-roofing was completed in only one day, so I have to give credit where credit is due. (By contrast, I have a neighbor who hired a different company to re-roof his place; they've been at it for 3-4 weeks now.) And, aside from the sagging, the quality of the roof appears to be top notch. I never did receive a bid for the siding, which is okay...I probably wouldn't hire them again anyway. Going forward, I will always stick with my rule of obtaining at least 3 bids.

Roof went fine. The window have never been replaced. Someone came to measure but replacement glass was never installed. I have called at least 5 times. Once they were paid in full we stopped mattering. Would never hire again.

Very professional. I have used Avalon previous when I had my roof done and was impressed with their quality. It was a no brainer to contact them again when my old windows were jammed shut. Ryan was very nice and explained various windows which allowed me to pick the ones I wanted for each room. The installers were very quick and the windows look amazing. Definitely will use them again for my next home improvement.

We are a rather handy couple and have completed a lot of home improvement projects ourselves, but when it came to our roof we knew we needed a professional. We called a few companies for estimates. Larry came out and took a look at our roof and was very thorough. He offered us lots of explanation as to what we were seeing and gave us insight as to what was happening structurally. Everyone from Avalon was courteous and knowledgeable. Communication was great. We were not home for the installation, but I did a drive by on my lunch break and they were hard at work. They left everything spic and span besides a few nails we found. We are extremely happy with our new roof.

We had Avalon come out as we had leaks happening to our roof. They were excellent. Larry walked us through everything and helped us with financing. Installs were easy, quick, and great. The crew worked hard and left very little behind.

Very nicely done. Avalon is quick and efficient. They reached out to me and said the crew would be to my home in less than a couple of days compared to the original plan of starting a week later. The crew kept the yard nice and tidy. Left without a trace of them being here besides the good looking new roof on my home. Definitely recommend.

We are impressed with our new roof installed by Avalon. Before moving into our home in April, we had hired an inspector to evaluate the condition of our prospective purchase. Damage from ice was noted on one side of the roof causing a problem with the gutters. After our purchase and move, we contacted five roofing companies to get estimates for roof/gutter repair or replacement. Chris came to our home from Avalon. He was both knowledgeable and professional, and wrote up a comprehensive proposal that would resolve our roofing concerns. The proposal was clear, and Chris presented himself equally clear, confident of both the quality of his offered products and his company. Discussions of financing and warranties were equally clear, and our decision was made. Three separate work crews came to our home: the roofing "team," the insulation "team," and the gutter "team." All were efficient. All were friendly. All did good work. We are very thankful that we went with Avalon. We have a new roof, effective and attractive, and the potential ice problem has been addressed and fixed. We are very satisfied Avalon customers.

Did not end up using, due to a previous vendor of ours emailing first. However, Avalon responded to my message very quickly; I was really impressed!
