12 years later, the structure is collapsing because Ray failed to properly support the main weight-bearing wall on the first floor. There is no beam under the main weight-bearing wall. When I signed a contract with Ray in 2002 he kept an atty on retainer, he knew that he would likely be serving jail time for drunk driving. He did not disclose any of this to me. Looking back, the behaviors (thick tongue and unsteady gait) he claimed were medical were drunkenness. He broke ground, put up the frame, carelessly spread out the dirt he said would be removed and abandoned the job. When I called, his wife told me he was serving time for drunk driving. I tried to work with his crew but they were incompetent. Without a builder I was denied my construction loan. Then Ray turned around and sewed me for non-payment. And, he won. The attorney I hired decided it was best I speak for myself. The mediation attorneys refused to let me speak and it turned out that my atty had not prepared himself. It took a few years for me to complete the home by hiring subs and paying them paycheck to paycheck. In 2006 I got my first mortgage. Now in 2016 I found a floor joist 'hump' in the upstairs floor. The floor is coming apart from the wall and the upstairs floors are sloping because the weight bearing wall on the main floor is sinking. Because of statute of limitations I can't sue. I will give Ray an opportunity to correct the situation by paying for the structural damage. If he does pay, I will write another review declaring that. In the meantime, I am reporting to Attorney General Schuette and BBB.
Description of Work: In 2002 I hired Ray to build a new home.
