David B.
Mar 2014
Uncategorized, Excavation
The main support beams under our cottage were all rotted. The project was more difficult since there was a 22 ton stone fireplace attached to the cottage that also had to be lifted.
David Jonassen/J.Jonassen Inc. was chosen to lift our cottage after we received bids and interviewed four other house lifting firms in West Michigan. He is extremely knowledgeable and has experience with all types of house lifting and moving projects. We talked to a number of previous customers who were very happy with the results.
He arrived on the start date and started work immediately. Within four days, the entire cottage had been excavated, steel support beams inserted, and cribs built and fully supported 15 feet in the air so that the basement walls could be poured. Mr. Jonassen was very professional and really knew what he was doing. He figured out how to support a 22 ton chimney up in the air with special chains and high strength steel rods.He had learned the business from his father and has lifted/moved all types of residential and commercial structures.
Nothing inside of the cottage was damaged or broken. He also returned after the basement was poured to put the house down on the new basement/foundation. This was a complex and difficult project and Dave Jonassen did an outstanding job for us.
