 + -1 moreLoved the workmanship.... do not like the quality of the wood floors. I made the mistake of going with what Makin recommended for the brand of wood. I should have stuck with Bruce flooring. I question the quality of the finish on this Viking flooring. Scratches very easily, I picked the Brazilian Cherry for it's hardness.

 + -1 moreRight from the start, I had a good feeling about the company and Chris Makin personally. He was thorough, patient with all my questions, treated me respectfully and offered options based on any cost concerns I had. Due diligence on my part caused a bit of delay while I got another estimate (competitive on cost, but not as professional). Once the contract was signed and deposit paid, the job was completed on time, very clean (no mess anywhere) and high quality (perfect joints on the planks and trim). What a real pleasure to have it done so well, without any sleepless nights!
Description of Work: Makin Flooring replaced an old linoleum kitchen floor including repair to subfloor and installation of 1/4" underlayment. The flooring material (chosen & provided by the customer) was solid vinyl planking that clicked together (floating floor). Makin also removed and replaced the baseboard trim and trim at the entryways.

 + -1 moreThey were on time, worked very quickly, did work/things that were not expected. Chris Makin knows how to install flooring the way it should be done. I choose this company because of the description of the work they were going to do. Other contractors that I interviewed wanted to take shortcuts. After the job was finished I looked at the Quotes I had received. Chris Makin's was the lowest.
Description of Work: Installation of 850 square ft. of hardwood flooring. The first afternoon, Removed all baseboard and molding. Moved refrigerator and gas stove temporarily to another area. Remove floating floor and nailed down .25" luan and took it away. Repaired water damage to sub-floor at sliding glass door. Fixed squeaks in sub-floor. Undercut all the ventricle molding for proper fit of new hardwood flooring. Cleaned up work area before leaving the first day. The next morning started with the laying of the rosin paper on the sub-floor. Installed the nail down hardwood flooring.Replaced all the molding. Re-installed the stove and the refrigerator. Cleaned up the work area.
