TODAY'S GENERAL CONSTRUCTION

I had a very hard time trying to find someone to put on this style roof. It is a metal roof that looks like Cedar Shakes. Todays General Construction was recommended to me by Brown Lumber in Traverse City. While installing the roof, Mr. Jamie Ulrich had to have it removed once and redo it because his workers got half way up the garage roof and had put it on wrong. The garage is attached to the house. He inset the metal roof trim UNDER the house facia. I did not catch this until just recently when snow sliding off the roof ripped a chunk of facia from the corner where the house side soffit leaves the roof. Digging around, trying to figure a way to seal it up, I find that this corner has been leaking water inside the soffit and now the wood appears to be going soft. The facia that he put on, warps in the summer. Come to find out they nailed some of the joints where you are't suppose to. While replacing the rear soffit, they had removed an internal bracket I used to support a backyard light. I had to remove the soffit, reinstall the bracket and reinstall the soffit. I tried calling him to fix this, but he has refused to answer my phone calls or return voice mail. My biggest mistake was agreeing to pay him cash. I have pictures of the ripped out section, if it is possible to post them here. As far as the corner that ripped out, it looks as if the best fix is to remove the roofing from the front side of the garage and house, fix the rotting wood, move the roofing trim out from under the house facia, extend the facia down to the garage roof and try and reinstall the roof. The facia that is warping will have to get replaced. My recommedation is if you have used this guy, have a qualified inspector check out his work.
