Gary and his crew quickly got to work on pulling the permits necessary for the work do be done on our behalf and started the job less than a month later. The expected completion time that was quoted was 7-10 business days, and even with uncontrollable surprises and challenges along the way, they were completely wrapped up and finished by the 10th business day. Over the span of just a few days, the team of 3-5 individuals lugged counttless buckets of heavy stone, cement, debris, and gravel up and down the stairs. The amount of heavy duty equipment coming in and out of our basement throughout the two weeks was amazing and the team worked hard to leave our house in a clean, organized, and functional manner when it was all said and done. Since the work was completed, we no longer have to worry about the safety of our family living in a house with mildew in the basement and a faulty waterproofing system.
Overall, Atlantic Coast Waterproofing offers a well-managed crew led by a reputable and knowledge owner. They will keep you informed every step of the way before, during, and after the work is complete. I would use the company again in the future and would recommend them to others as well.
We chose not to share our personal information in regard to cost of service. We felt that we received "value" in the quality of work that was performed and that no short-cuts were taken.
It was a big job and we are happy with the results. We would hire him again!
Gary went out of his way to take the time to assist my wife with understanding the complete task of the job at hand. Gary kept us informed of the project details with status updates, schedule planning, and participated in conversations regarding our project and offered suggestions based on past experiences.
Gary also has a strong network of support from other contractors who work along with him. All of these individuals were equally as professional as Gary and his crew. They show great friendship and the ability to work side by side without any issues.
Definitely good money spent.
"Awesome to hear sir. THANK YOU for your business!"
Would recommend to anyone that needed their services.
Was especially helpful that the owner, Gary Lustig was not pushy and took the time to explain
all options for my problem.
Sales call: Gary, owner of company, met my expectations of what I was looking for and in line with other reviews. What really stands out is taking care of what is causing the problem, not just selling another product. Gary is the only one that offered suggestions to address a problem that he did not make any money on. He was willing to spend the time to make sure I understood the process and proposal.
Cost: I am not providing details because I feel the information is misleading depending on everything being done. I can tell you each contractor's proposal was based upon linear feet, which my house had a large basement perimeter. I am very concerned with making sure I get the best value and trust that the contractor will deliver as promised. I selected Atlantic Coast Waterproofing.
Homeowner prep: This was totally my responsibility and it took a lot of time and effort.
The processes was the same for all contractors I got proposals from. I believe Gary was the most realistic on space needed and dealing with obstacles. Gary also was really good to work with
When we had our next big rain we found that some water was still getting in at a few places. We called Gary. He was out within the hour! He saw a few spots that needed more work. There was a hole around a pipe that led to the outside where some of the water was coming in. He had had no way of knowing that when it wasn't raining. There also was a crack behind a stairwell that needed a little more work. The biggest leak we still had was water coming in from a basement window well outside the house. Water was pooling in the well, and leaking in heavily over the base of the window, where it was absorbed by our insulation and dripping over the other side of our new drainage system, which typically catches all the water coming down the wall and carries it via the drain hose to the sump pump, which pumps it out of the house.
Gary and his crew came back on a Saturday and did all the repair work we needed. He sealed the pipe hole with cement, and did some more work around that impossible to reach crack by the stairs to insure the water would go down to the drain, instead of out into the room. The only part that wasn't covered by his original estimate was the basement window job. He dug out the earth and stones from that window well, installed a drainage pipe that led directly to his newly installed system on the inside of the house, then covered it up with gravel. On the inside, he cemented both where the pipe entered the house, and also the basement floor where the pipe went through. For all this extra work, Gary only charged us a fraction of what the job was worth. (The extra work I hired him to do probably wasn't even necessary. After that rain, but before Atlantic Coast came back, my husband removed the drywall and the insulation behind it that was under the window well. It rained again. The water didn't come in. Gary's original system worked. I just wanted the outside drain put in for additional peace of mind.)
The last thing I'd like to mention: The people who built my house never installed a proper sump water drainage system. Gary noticed that, and hooked a 4-inch diameter hose to the sump pipe on the outside of the house and arranged it to drain well away from the house, so that water won't be adding pressure to the outside of our basement walls. He also patiently answered my countless questions about my options for what to do with the hose. He's very knowledgeable about building codes and landscaping.
Thanks, Gary. You guys did a great job, and your price was more than fair.
Furthermore, I probably wouldn't have even hired a different company to do this. But these guys are real professionals. They sat down and explained the full process, checked in with us at the end of every day to discuss the progress, and showed up early every day (including Saturdays) and didn't leave til the job was done. These guys don't work multiple jobs while they're doing your project. You get their full attention. On top of it, they are politer than polite! When they came in the house for sump pump work, they even took their boots off for us, without being asked. They cleaned up after themselves, put our yard back in together, removed a bush for us that we otherwise were even planning to pay someone to remove. All the bonuses really made it extra worth it. On top of that, we have a guarantee that will pass on when we sell the house. There were things they could have cut costs on, but they didn't. They really know their stuff, and it's their business to do it right.
Bottom line? These guys really want to be employed. They want your business, they want to be working for you. It's evident in the way they'll treat you and your house.
Do it, your basement walls will thank you. For real, Atlantic is the way to go.
As work progressed I was kept up to date on every new discovery as we opened the can of worms that are this basement. The staff was polite an thoroughly neat and clean. Gary Lustig, the owners son, was in charge of the work., I could not recommend him more highly. He had a wide range of problems in an basement that was desperate for maintenance and solved them swiftly and skillfully. I would call him an old fashion craftsman rather than a repairman, taking pride in his work.
As we got further into problems (wiring not up to code, no flashing around the basement door causing leaks, plumbing problems )Gary referred me to a contractor at DEC General Home improvement Dino Campagna. No maintenance had been done on the main house since the 1960's so it was also a mess. Presently he is working on my house to bring it up to code.
If you want honest skilled work and a honest days work for your dollar. Hire Atlantic Coast Waterproofing.
