To save money I had removed the vast of majority of destroyed material objects that were stored in the basement. I could not be home for some of the time that the crew would be in my home but the company was insured, bonded and the crew chiefs took personal responsibility for any unfounded theft or damage to my home, this will become important later. Being that the crew was from out of town, I warned them about hiring day labors, due to the long termed depression of the local economy.
The crew flood cut and removed my knotty pine walls, summer kitchen cabinets, cabinets behind the bar and standing bar itself. All of the off cuts of wet wood were piled on the front section of my yard for pick up by garbage service. The crew then cleaned and sanitized entire area, sprayed to prevent mold growth, brought in huge dehumidifiers and fans to remove moisture from basement.
The crew showed up when they said they would and took care of business as per the plan as set forward by the contract I had signed . Overall I was very impressed with their service, they were quick and knew their business. Now as to problems: the second day the company was in my home they brought in several day laborers to help with physical removal of the waste, a large amount of coinage disappeared from a room that the crew had no business being in. The crew chief made the problem correct, and took the amount of the "disappearing money" off of the overall bill. (The only reason for the coinage in the first place was due to the loss of my washer any dryer I had to go to a laundromat). Remember that I had warned the crew of the local long term economic depression. The only other problem is that the city gave me a hard time about picking up refuse. It was not on the curb the first garbage day after the flood when the city picked up everything no question asked. After first week I picked up all the debris and packed it into trash cans, some of which I borrowed from neighbors, city still did not pick up. Then I, after checking the city garbage company web site, tried tying up the wet wood into bundles, still no pick up. By this time the debris had been on my front yard going on 3.5 weeks, I ended up having to hire a separate company to come pick up refuse which cost me an additional amount of money to a different company. But by then the crew I had dealt with was gone from the area.
Procedure was explained fully. All workers were very respectful. Wonderful experience overall. In the face of a huge loss of materials in our home, workers were very empathetic and helpful. Would definitely recommend to others experiencing water loss.
