One look at this guy should have triggered the red flag. One look at his unprofessional contract and hand-drawn add-ins should have turned us away. But we wanted a small-time contractor that was supposedly passionate about his work and wanted 100% satisfaction. He promised a small team of experienced workers instead of the typical "revolving door" of high school workers. He promised a lot. What did we get? An unfinished deck that was 2 months past contract deadline, with excessive modifications because the design wasn't followed correctly. For example, the posts were installed at the wrong angle, so agreed-on lighting wasn't installable, so we had to go out and buy more expensive lighting to fit on top of the posts to solve his problem. We should have went with the contractor who designed the deck in the first place. Our screened room's screens were the flimsiest possible -- and were under contract to be purchased by US, but he went ahead and bought the cheapest crap and billed us for it; the glass panels weren't all delivered, and half of them that were didn't fit the openings. I was out helping some of the time because all of his other help apparenlty quit on him. He even had to call in some help because he didn't know how to fix the ceiling in our screen room. The best part is when he put a lien on our house for more than the remaining value of the contract, after he begged us for the remaining money and we asked him to finish the job first because of how this nightmare was going. Oh, and did I mention either his shoddy electrical work or his shoddy equipment burned down part of our deck while we slept during the night? If even one person reads this and avoids this disaster of a contractor, it'll make the sting of what he did to us a little more bearable. I am more than happy to provide pictures and video to anyone interested in seeing what he deems passable as quality workmanship. But I would hope you'd just simply spare your lives and find someone else to do the work you care about. We are STILL in the process of getting his structural defects fixed by another contractor. His six year warranty is a joke -- he won't return our calls or letters. We couldn't even get the windows fixed until one of the structural beams was torn down and replaced because it was installed crooked. The gutters don't do anything because all the water sheets behind them and leaves the dirt and shingle dust on the clean deck. Most of the railings aren't fully installed. His idea of a door stopper is a big wad of caulk on the brick of the house. In fact, he uses caulk like an engineer might use duct tape. We can't even get another contractor to fix it, because everyone is scared of how badly it's built and doesn't want their license attached to it. Some of them said they'd rather rip the deck down and start over. Found out through heavy research and equally shoddy inspector that there are now about a dozen code violations on our deck. Everything from nail spacing to snow/ice shield under the shingles that could ruin our screen room over time. Probably will approach $10K in repairs. Inspector is more worried about covering his @ss than helping us get this guy. ALWAYS GET A SECOND INSPECTION!! Second letter going to the State. This is such a disaster. Spread the word about this guy!
