CARL ZATSICK CARPENTRY

We were very happy with the installation of our deck. Carl did a fantastic job and we were especially pleased with the quality of workmanship. It was apparent that Carl had a lot of experience installing decks as he gave helpful suggestions to our design.

Carl is a total pro. This is a guy who knows what he’s doing, will deliver what he promises and is a straight and honest man. Carl replaced my aging wood railing with a trex rail system and pulled up and replaced my gen 1 trex board with new ones. You can’t go wrong with Carl. I received 8 quotes on my deck and it was clear that trusting Carl with this project was the only way to go. We LOVE the results a f his price was more than fair.

Carl is a Master deck builder. Even though there were unforeseen issues with the project, Carl always had a repair plan. Carl pays attention to detail. His work with his son was exceptional.

As expected when working around the weather, building inspector, deliveries etc. Communication, integrity, work ethic and honesty is what I look for when screening potential business and Carl Zatsick meet or exceeded my criteria.

I’m beyond amazed. Carl is very calm, very nice and very professional. I paid the remaining of the balance as soon as the job was done but before the inspection was completed because Carl lives about 45 mins away. I didn’t want him to drive 45 mins back just to get paid. I was a little nervous in what’d happen if the deck didn’t pass the inspection. Would he disappear just like any other contractors? But nope! Carl was there in every step of the way. Our deck didn’t pass the inspection right of the bat and he came back to fix it. Carl also helped me out with material return as well. I wish he lived closer as I still have many projects needing help with. You won’t regret hiring Carl to help you. He’s a rare gem.

My experience with Carl Zatsick has been nothing but positive. Communication is key with any project, and not every project goes smooth. Overall the process was very smooth from initial walk though and estimate to the final building inspection. We had some minor bumps but Carl's kept me in the process and relayed over any issues or concerns. Carl and his son were professional while on site, and kept the area clean after each day. In the end we got the deck we wanted and couldn't be happier. Before getting estimates, I pre-filtered the companies I wanted to deal with, based off of reviews and craftsmanship. When getting estimates for this project, Carl supplied me a with materials vs labor cost so i knew exactly where my money was going. I didn't get that with other estimates from the other companies, just a total cost. His estimate also came in a little lower than most of the other estimates, not by much, but enough to swing my decision.

Carl was amazing to work with. He was diligent in providing all necessary information to the city in order to pull the permit no one thought would be necessary. His attention to detail and follow through put someone like me with ZERO knowledge besides wanting the materials used to be composite versus wood at complete ease. His workmanship was of the highest standard and I could not be happier with the entire experience.

Everything went very well. Carl is a rare breed of contractors. He is honest, upfront about costs and duration of projects and a straight shooter. He seems to be carrying on a strong work ethic passed to him by prior generations of hardworking men. After dealing with many contractors for years, I can say Carl is a breath of fresh air. Fair price, solid work and, most importantly, he won't waste your time. I would hire him again in a heartbeat.

Carl did quality job on my deck. Very happy with workmanship. Although in the beginning, we played communication tag which I think is to expected until I committed to the job. But once we got rolling, Carl was great about asking me what I wanted & not just going ahead with his direction. I gave a B on price as I'm not certain that the price I paid is the price I was originally quoted. But I do think he did a quality job on my deck. I would & will hire him again for future carpentry needs.

Great! Carl and his son Zack built a beautiful little deck of no-maintenance Trex material, with attractive Trex railings. Carl always responded quickly when I emailed or called him while working out details. After the deck was finished, I decided that adding another section of railing would be more attractive, and Carl took care of that promptly. Zack also primed and painted the house foundation around my patio which provided a nice finished look. Cost of services was for labor only.

Very smoothly. Carl was very patient with the approval process thru my condo association and provided me with all the necessary drawings etc. He was a pleasure to work with and my deck is beautiful!

I needed a full deck replacement (removal of old deck including structure and install of new deck from the ground up). Size was 20x30 ft, using Trex including railing and lighting. Carl was the best quote and did very high quality work. I asked for quite a few adjustments on the fly and he was flexible and worked to fit them in every time I asked. Would definitely use him again for future projects. The new deck is beautiful.

Excellent. I bought a new house last fall and have had lots of projects that have been completed in the first handful of months-- driveway, landscaping, painting, etc. Dealing with contractors is always the hardest part by far!..... however, Carl was great. He sticks to his word, he does phenomenal work, and I would hire him again in a heartbeat. I wish all contractors were like Carl.

Our old wood deck was replaced with composite decking and it looks better than ever. Carl Zatsick was professional and efficient. The project went very smoothly and was completely finished within three days. We are getting many compliments on the new deck.

Excellent. What started off as a railing job quickly turned into a decking and railing job once Carl and his crew brought up a potential safety hazard that would have been left if the decking was not done at the same time. A couple day job turned into a week but they were able to adjust quickly and the project turned out great. We also requested/received a quote for a new garage; the only reason we didn't use Carl is because we had a family member who was interested in completing that project. For any future projects Carl Zatsick Carpentry will be my first call.

Carl was very professional, responsive to what I was looking to do and provided an accurate quote. He handled the materials and coordination with the lumber yard, it was very convenient to be able to call and pay over the phone for everything to be delivered to the house. He and his team provided the tear out of the existing spaces, and created custom trim profiles to suit my needs based on sample photos I provided. I was very happy with the quality of work provided and will be using him again soon for additional projects. A+ from us!

Carl was awesome. He worked with schedule, pricing, ideas and did great work. I would recommend him to anyone.

Carl was great! The work was done quickly, and my new deck is so much better than the old in so many ways. He corrected the overly narrow stairs on both the main and side deck, fitted the boards correctly against the house (the previous deck had gaps where debris would build up and be hard to remove), and he reconfigured the railing ever so slightly to increase the useable deck space. We have recommended him to our friends!

We obtained bids from several contractors, including Lowe's. I thought we had made a good choice with Michigan's Best Deck Builders. But its 7 page written contract was too lop-sided in the contractor's favor and he was unwilling to negotiate the issue. I then found Mr. Zatsick. We revised our plan, and got a bigger deck for what I thought was a good price. There were some changes during construction that resulted in an increase but this was talked about at the time, and there was no surprise. Mr. Zatsick is the carpenter. His hand is on the tools. If I had any objection it was that he was personally tied up on other projects for several months so our deck didn't get finished until recently. But I thought the work was done with care and attention to detail. Example . . Some of the treated lumber delivered to the project had too many knots. He and his crew inspected each board. Several were unacceptable, and exchanged with the lumber yard for better boards. I probably would not have objected to the boards that were delivered. But he knew good from bad. In my opinion that shows personal pride. Quality when others might not know one way or the other. I trusted him personally and would use him again.

Carl was able to provide a very cost effective solution to stabilize the stairs and secure them so that they wouldn't loosen in the future. He could have made it a major job, but he and his son took care of it in just a few hours!
