They did an awful job. We hired them to strip and retain the deck and replace boards as needed. Missed spots for staining and left rotten boards that needed to be replaced badly, when I mentioned the boards to them he promised they would be back once the stain dried but they never returned. Called them several times and they promise to come back out but never showed up.

Staining was not uniformly done inspite of coming back to fix at our request. Replacement wood pieces are not properly cut to fit, and have gaps. Replaced top rails are crooked. I sent the owner pictures of the poor workmanship but received no response. This is the first time ever we have been so disappointed with a service.

"We absolutely responded when you sent pictures. I personally came out and walked through the deck with you and explained everything. The deck is 35 year old pressure treated pine and is on its last leg, the old deck boards are badly weathered and will not look even no matter how many coats of stain we put on them. Your posts and railing system is badly warped and out of code, it is a physical impossibility to get the top rail straight when the substrate is warped. I suggested repairs that I thought it needed but you said "I want to do this as cheap as possible". I can only do what I can do, I don't have a magic wand. We would be willing to put another coat of stain on in the spring for no charge if that would make you happy."

Very happy with the work done on my decks. My only suggestion would be for whoever is going to work on the decks call to make sure customer is home before they arrive to do the work.

This company quoted 4 to 6 weeks for this job. It took them almost 16 weeks to get them out to do the job. I called them every couple of weeks and the excuse was different each time. They never initiated the calls to me but would call me back when I called them. It was a very frustrating experience and would not recommend nor use this company again for any other project.

"This has been the wettest seasons we've had in many years. The weather puts us behind, and it's not just us.......all of our business contacts who are in a similar business are way behind as well. Mother Nature always wins. When I came by to pick up a check and see how everything looked you were extremely satisfied and said everything was great. If I would've known you were this unhappy I wouldn't have even charged you. Please contact Joe or Corey and next time you need the deck restored we will do it free of charge. Thanks."

Signed up with them in early April and gave them a $200.00 deposit. Got a good price but they did not start work until almost August. Every time I called Joe blamed it on the rainy summer but I'm not sure that was entirely true. I think they took on more than they could handle and just got way behind. When I threatened to cancel Joe told me that my deposit was not refundable. This was never explained to me and there was no mention of it on the quote so I told him I would see him in small claims court. They finally showed up to clean the deck without calling first and the same thing happened when they showed up to stain the deck. They were fast but missed portions of the deck and I don't think the quality was very good. I didn't complain as I was just happy to have a coat of stain on the deck. I had to take some of the stain they left me with and finish up a few areas. I still have to clean up the metal spindles as there was over spray all over them. I know other reviews rated them highly but I would not recommend this company.

"We've had a ton of rain this season. Everyone is behind......concrete guys, deck contractors, landscapers, exterior painters, etc.............I wish we knew how to defeat the weather, but we don't. When we talked on the phone you said everything looked great. If you would've told me there was a touch up we would have taken care of it for you. Also, we didn't run a sprayer on your job. The deck was too small, we only run sprayers on larger jobs. Stain on spindles was likely from a previous job. Please call us if there's anything we can do to satisfy you, thanks."

We contacted APEX via HomeAdvisor last fall when our new cedar deck was finished for washing, staining and sealing. Postponed the job into 2017 because of the new wood and the winter coming. They followed up on our inquiry in February and came out for a quote, explaining in great detail what they were doing. We made a down-payment and got on top of their work list so that we can start using our deck early this spring. Once the weather allowed to get started they came out promptly to clean the deck and about a week later to finish (sanding, staining and sealing). Very good and thorough job, they covered the patio below the deck, no mess on the siding and the stain was well applied. Finished in about 6 hours. the deck looks great, very smooth surface and very good application and coverage of the stain. Overall costs were more than appropriate for the work performed and the quality. I highly recommend APEX for those jobs and will have them come again next spring for a refresh coat on the horizontal surfaces.

I had my fence and deck power washed and stained. The power washing was excellent. They came out quick and got the job done. I feel that the deck should have another coat of stain. But overall great price for the work done.
