VERY SLOW SPENT LOT OF TIME ON PHONE (THE OWNER) WAY HIGH COST $80 PER HR.+ SERVICE CALL 2 MEN FOR SMALL JOB $40 FOR $ 20 IN PARTS MAYBE, DO NOT USE

I called Cross Country who said that's true, but said we should have been charged only the diagnosis fee of $80. I called Brass Plumbing back, who said he didn't know that, and hung up on me (he was driving). Never sent the refund. I called back and this time he claimed he did a lot of work, that I should be grateful, that he didn't owe me anything, that he couldn't believe I was calling about $20, and to have Cross Country call him. I called Cross Country back, who also changed their story, stating they had authorized an additional fee, so I was misinformed the first time and that they had no record of my previous call (yet they had full record of the job).
In the meantime, I had called my regular plumber, All About Plumbing, who snaked the roots out for $170. I see Brass Plumbers is in bed with Cross Country Home Warranty.

I had called Brass Plumbing yesterday after a friend had used him 2 yrs. ago and was happy with his service. Rick, the owner, came when promised and on time. I explained the leak that had occured. I left him to the job. In about 10 minutes he said he looked everything over, tightened down the drain line and water lines. Filled the sink several times and no leaking occured. Told us no charge for this visit. He gave me his card and I said I would certainly use his services again. It was nice to have someone not pick your pocket.

The bathtub drain was slow and I used one of those plastic zip-it tools to clear it. I have used these before with great success. Unfortunately, the trap under the tub was so old and so corroded that a skinny little piece of plastic was enough to punch a hole the size of a silver dollar and all the water from the tub proceeded to cascade into the kitchen underneath. It was NOT NICE.
I pulled down the ruined ceiling in the kitchen to see what was going on. i'm pretty good at plumbing on my own, but it looked like a complicated mess and II just didn't want to deal with it. I had used Brass before with good results, so I called them again. He was prompt, professional, and kept to his estimate. He had to pull down part of a wall in the bathroom, but put it back for no extra charge. The new components are of a better quality than what they replaced.
Brass is great.

When I had Rick LaFave over to give an estimate it consisted of two simple jobs (the pressure relief pipe and removing a saddle fitting) plus performing a compression test for the city inspector. He said $180.00, which I thought was reasonable. Well, when the inspector came for the test, in the process of putting on the gauge that measures the pressure my 90 year old city supply pipe broke! The inspector said, and quot;Well, we're not having a test today,and quot; and left. Rick spent several hours fixing that old pipe and had to come back twice, including another trip for the re-inspection.

Well, I thought my estimate would at least double after all that, and while I wasn't happy about it I didn't think it was unfair; since after all, it wasn't Rick's fault that my plumbing is nearly as old as dirt. Imagine my pleased surprise when he only charged me an extra $30.00!

When we remodel the bathroom, I will be hiring Rick of Brass Plumbing again.
