I had another contractor lined up but when they couldn't get here for 2 months found MPM. He works mostly alone on remodeling projects. Took longer than previous contractor bid but that was because he hand dug the well which saved my landscaping and lawn. Was easy to discuss the project with him while it was ongoing. He made some changes that I wanted with no problem. Took a week but I am very happy with the result.

Price Bidding: Mike was by far the better prepared of all the several contractors we interviewed. He came with a clear well-articulated design within our expressed budget (believe it or not, we had a very well known contractor in the area bid 50% above of the budget we discussed a few days earlier). We were very impressed with Mike at that point.

Actual Project: Project started well in week 1. From there, it was delay after delay due to poor project management (no issues with the actual room being emodeled). I offered to buy all the materials in week 1. I wish Mike would have agreed with me when signing the contract, because many of the delays could have been avoided. My suggestion to any potential client would be to add a completion penalty clause that would take x% amount out of the total $ project per each week of delay.
As time progressed, there were days that I wasn't sure what Mike and (his employee) Joe would work on because it was not evident any real progress was being made. When asked about project status, Mike and Joe would give conflicting reports. Mike was always very optimistic on the timing and often provided very few and unclear details. When it became clear that the project was way behind schedule, Mike even had the audacity to claim that "contractors never really know how long a project is going to take." Mike, why didn't you mention this on day 1? On the positive side, they seemed to be respectful guys and always treat our dog nicely.

Final Product: Final cosmetic quality is ok. We are happy with the bathroom now, but the process to get there was a nightmare at times.Professionalism was questionable as well. They would even clean their grout and cement off their tools in our front lawn (wouldn't you ask for permission??) and didn't clean up after themselves. We understand that any remodel is going to take longer than expected and that unexpected delays can and wil occur. We will let readers judge if we had unrealistic expectations based on mutual agreement on day 1.

Nightmare of slow progress, culminating in a structure with multiple problems.  We hired a professional construction inspector to document problems with the roof, installation of doors & windows, etc.  We presented MPM with the report and asked them to correct these deficiencies.  They REFUSED to do the requested warrantee work.
I do not believe this company carries insurance.  Believe it or not, neither the City of Bay City nor the State of MI requires this info.

mike and his crew of nick, joe and robert were absolutely wonderful! they do great work. the only problem we had is the length it took...(3 1/2 months) though some of it was due to a hole in the roof that has been hard to find....(having a long hot and dry summer makes it harder) i beleive this is the fourth summer mike has done work on our house. we are already talking about what we want done next summer! mike is very trust worthy and we look forward to working with him again!
