I highly recommend Jeff Prior at First Priority. I just realized that I had not written a recommendation for Jeff's work in 2020. His written report after the home inspection was unbelievably thorough. In addition, he stands by his inspection completely. If you want an honest and reliable home inspector, Jeff is the one to choose!

Jeff was very helpful, and answered all of my questions thoroughly. He even had helpful suggestions for updates and ways of optimizing home maintenance and care. He came out to inspect a home I had under contract, and in his thoroughness he discovered extensive termite damage that was previously undisclosed. Jeff was compassionate to my situation, and communicated a willingness to accommodate me in the future. I am grateful to Jeff for saving me from such a nightmare, and for saving me thousands of dollars.

Home inspection done by first priority was horrific. Moved into the home to discover a massive infestation of not just mice, but squirrels as well. Severe mold colonies inside bathroom vanities, sagging drywall in the kitchen, and those are just the things we’ve found thus far. I’m deeply, deeply appalled by this company, please, if your realtor tells you that the inspection will be done by them or you are looking to get an inspection on your own home, please do not give these people your hard earned money. You will regret it.

Jeff at First Priority was fantastic with our inspection. He was early, thorough, straight forward, professional, knowledgeable, up to date on the latest certifications, and we were very impressed with his services. His company handled everything regarding the contractors he used for the pest inspection and radon inspection as well (only using specific providers he approved of, and scheduling them), who we also were very impressed with in terms of knowledge, professionalism, and thoroughness. We will definitely be using Jeff's services for the next house we put in an offer (as unfortunately we think the things he brought to our attention the seller doesn't seem to be interested in fixing). We would recommend him!!

Excellent. From scheduling over the phone with the office lady to wrapping up the inspection, the service was informed and friendly. Absolutely recommend.

Jeff arrived early and went straight to work. He communicated clearly throughout and gave his opinion on the details of his findings. Within a day we had a summary of his findings emailed to us. Shortly thereafter we received the full report in the mail. He seemed to pay attention to detail and I feel it was money and time well spent. He checked the radon meter while doing the inspection to give us an idea where that was as the test was still running. The pest inspector he contacted for us also did a bang up job and was also friendly and easy to talk to.
Overall I am most pleased with the to-do list that was provided by First Priority, Inc.

Jeff is amazing. He inspected a home I was selling a little over a year ago, and I had never seen such a detailed, clear inspection report. (I have hired home inspectors 4 times.)  I vowed at the time that if I bought another home in the area, I would ask him to inspect it. This month I am doing so, and I asked him to inspect it. He loves his job, explains everything he is doing (was happy to let me follow him around), and was more than happy to do extra investigating. (For example, I found an extra set of double-glazed storm windows in a storage closet, and he carefully looked at them, measured them,   and was able to determine that they are replacement windows for ones that appear to be fogging up in the master bedroom.) Jeff was on time - he actually came several minutes early - and was both efficient and thorough. I HIGHLY recommend him.

It was a great experience.  Jeff arrived early and was very thorough in his inspection, climbing on the roof, in the attic, unscrewing boxes in the basement and anywhere to ensure that everything was checked out.  He was responsive to our questions and anything we pointed out or did not understand.
Would use his services again and highly recommend him.

Jeff arrived early and promptly began an exterior evaluation of the home which included a climb up on the roof to inspect roofing, gutters, etc. before beginning  the interior inspection. We spoke about any areas of particular concern that I wanted him to examine and then he was on his way. He invited me to join him and ask questions as he went along which I found very  nice . He was thorough and even ran the dishwasher to check for leaks. He spent about 45 minutes to an hour inspecting the premises before sitting down with me to go over his findings. He provided a detailed report at the conclusion of the inspection which had a summary page at the front for quick reference. He was very personable and approachable.

I found First Priority using Angie's list, but at my closing found out that both Realtors present  liked him immensely and always recommended him to their clients when a home inspection was needed.

Because we don't (yet) actually live in the city we are purchasing a condo in, I was not present for the home inspection.  First Priority did put together a detailed report, using a 10 page form, and this was particularly helpful for us since we weren't actually there, and our realtor scanned it in and emailed it to us.  I had briefly toured this condo before and hadn't noticed any problems with it - First Priority found twelve, ranging from a kinked water line to the refrigerator to evidence of a water leak under a bathroom sink.  They also tested the appliances, running the dishwasher through a whole cycle (which tells you that they spent at least that long inspecting this condo unit).  They also found that the heater was only sort of working, and was unable to raise the temperature over 61 degrees despite the fact that it ran the whole time of the inspection - good information for us to know! Since I wasn't present, I did call Jeff afterwards to discuss his inspection, and learned some additional things not included in the written report.  (The report said the furnace wasn't working right - over the phone, he gave me his guess as to what the problem was and the cost to fix it.)  He was very helpful. Total cost of the inspection was $200 - I really have no idea if that is a good price or not.  We went with First Priority based on the recommendation of our realtor.
