This is my second review on DTE Home Protection Plus. The service co. Has attempted to repair my (less than 2 years old) oven. Kenworld start on Jan.15th. They have been here 4-5 times and can't get the oven to stop turning off. Home Protection refuses to give me greenback cash to purchase a new range. The service taking my appointment is PRO-0121 was very nasty and smart mouth regarding my new appointment and getting my 300.00 toward a new range. Once again I have to have the same person to come and try again to repair the oven. DTE refuses to give my greenback cash!!

I wanted to publicly thank Gary from DTE Home Protection for fixing my furnace this early fall. My furnace was behaving strangely (blower turning on before the ignition process), which I had attributed to the smart thermostat I had bought from DTE marketplace. Gary identified the malfunctioning as actually coming from multiple coincidental issues in the old electronic board and its connectors/wiring. This was a challenging one, apparently. And luckily Gary had a spare electronic board in his van, so he replaced my old one and eventually resolved the whole issue in just one visit. It’s been a year since I contracted DTE’s plan and this was the first time I called. I couldn’t be more pleased, at least based on this particular experience.

STAY AWAY FROM DTE Home Protection Plus !!!!!!!! They denied me on mt water heater last winter because they said it was unfixable because the tank was leaking. I bought a new one $3000.. They denied to fix my clothes washing washing machine because they said the drum bearing and spindle were not covered. I bought a new one, $1000. After fighting with them on this they talked me into there "greenbacker" program after 3 weeks sent me a check for $150. I t was a $1000 front loader. I later find out that I AM NOW LOCKED INTO THE PLAN FOR 1 YEAR!!!!!!!!! MAFIA TACTICS. TOTAL BS. DO NOT BUY THIS PLAN!!!!!!!!!!

D.T.E sent a contractor called climate Pros out to service my unit. They told me the would be out between 8-4 I thought that was crazy to consume my time like that. The contractor to my wife I needed 6 pound of freon in my unit and it was going to run $1000.00. I got home from work feel asleep she woke me up to speak with him. I walked to the edge of my garage a saw him in his vehicle when I heard a hissing sound coming from my unit. I a further investigation he had his gages barely on the valve just enough to alow freon to escape. I confronted him and still he convinced me I needed a sealant placed in the unit. He add the sealant and supposed of place 4 pounds of sealant back in the unit. I didn't notice he never wrote it on the reciet I paid 480 for sealant and come to find out no freon was put into my unit. I contacted D.T.E this happen on the 7th of June its now June 20th and D.T.E response was upon there investigation there is no need to send a contractor out to rectify your problem. They first wanted to send climate Pros back out to straighten thing out I said send me a different contractor. They said they would send a D.TE. repair person, never heard nothing else on that. I don't know how the did an investigation never looked at the reciet submitted nor asked for a written statement from me. This has got to be the worst customer service I have ever seen in my life. Oh by the way did I mention I'm skilled trade and is familiar with what the contractor did.

Might be the worse service I've ever had. They told me they would be there 8 to 4 so I called off of work rep never showed. Then after that for the next 2 weeks it became a tag game of me calling everyday and saying I need assistance and being promised that the rep will be there early and him not showing or coming at 6 pm when I've now left for work. I've now went 3 weeks without hot water and would rather buy my own appliances than ever give them another dime.

Very Pleased! I have read many bad reviews and feel sorry if people did not understand the plan first, second if they ended up having a serviceman that maybe had a bad day or week or such as we all may at times, third if they serviceman was just bad in general as some people are. But I wanted to tell my situation to help those of you who may be about to cancel or feel Leary after reading only bad reviews like I did! I was concerned they may tell me my furnace was too old to fix, yet worked fine last year and A/C works fine but would not heat and only was ticking to try to light with nothing happening. The first tech was not so social and could just be he grew up that way and I accept that but he was not rude to me as a man. he found the issue quickly and ordered a new module, the next guy yes was Black and yes, we should not be concerned of this ever! and he replaced the module and was out in 30 minutes and working heat again. Thanks! He was more pleasant and social and both were in the industry about 24-30 years each. I worked retail and IT and as a mechanic and I know how people can be, while I am also a Christian and am not anything like what the stupid media or movies or biased people may portray their senseless view of Christians. Just as I do not believe any other race or religion has hatred towards others in general or such as the media is always portraying less of them than they may try to do with my belief. I hope this eases any ones concerns to understand their terms and accepts people for who they are when not always pleasant as the way we wanted them to be and that you have a good outcome as I did! No photo added as you can lookup a module for a furnace and some are 100 and some are double or triple that, plus a service call of you call someone yourself to come out for at least $100 more the plan should be beneficial to get s professional I can trust as DTE more than just someone coming out, I rarely need service so I have no company I call on a regular basis ever for any home repair services needed. so I pay for DTEs HPP service plan to cover my furnace as most my appliances are newer within a couple years and their programs via the manufacturer or Sears service even was higher than the appliance cost in the long run. HPP is good to have!

I have the DTE Appliance Protection Plan and I had a Kitchenaid dishwasher with a front control panel issue. DTE sent out a refrigeration company from Monroe to look at it. Monroe Refrigeration called me back saying the part was not available from Kitchenaid any longer. I found the part on Kitchenaid spare parts website for $325.00. It is part number #W10757829 for $325.00 direct from Kenmore! DTE didn't want to buy the part because their "contractor" in Monroe said they couldn't get the part directly from Kitchenaid. I called DTE Appliance to tell them that I had found the part and they said that their expert said that part was no longer available from Kitchenaid. DTE offered to "raise my monthly bill by $18.95 per month" for "Green Backs Protection" and then would credit me $150.00 towards the $325.00 part that they said was no longer made. I called their DTE contractor back and told him the part number. He was glad that I had found the part and was going to order it right away. Basically, I have paid "77 Months" of $21.95 monthly premiums to DTE costing me $1,694.00. I asked them to cancel my DTE Appliance Protection Plan, they cancelled my plan retroactively and back dated it to May 4th so I couldn't get the part that I had found covered. So now I have a broken dishwasher that I have to buy a part for, Monroe Refrigeration gets paid for a service call & DTA gets $1695.00 of my money over the past 77 months! Also, this isn't the first time that DTE has done this to me. I had a freezer issue a few months back that their guy couldn't fix either. Waste of money. Our furnace broke early this morning. I called HPP before 7:00 AM this morning for repair and the representative gave me the name of the company that would be coming out and said she put it in as an emergency. I called the company that was going to be coming out to find out a better time frame at about 1:00 PM and they said the service call was put in as an after hours call and wouldn’t be out until 4:00 to 8:00 PM. I called HPP back to change the time, which they did to between 2:00 and 6:00 PM. This error was unacceptable to begin with. The company came out. Said the whole unit needs to be replaced, but he couldn’t give us an estimate, that someone else had to come out to give us one. Finally someone came out for an estimate but said they couldn’t replace it for a week. I called HPP because this was unacceptable. We cannot go a whole week without heat. Temperatures are going to drop down to the teens this weekend. I asked them to find us a new company to come out the following day that can actually replace the furnace. They basically brushed us off and wanted to just pay us out for the greenbacks instead of helping us any further. By the time they finally came out to tell us they couldn't fix it, it was too late to get anyone else out. I took the day off of work for nothing. I was able to get in touch with another heating and cooling company that was still open and they said they would put in a temp furnace in until the new one could be installed. Why were we not offered this through our HPP?

We have a contract with them for home warranty. They do a great job. They are professional and leave the place clean. They do a great job. I have no problem with them. They are here within a day or so. They are pretty good on punctuality. We use them whenever we need them.

They have a plan where there is an additional charge for about $10.00 a month, brings a repair man out. That they send to you. The people who they send or work, to repair my furnace, are first rate. They know exactly what's wrong with it, and fix it, and their out of here, and my furnace is working again. And it mostly is a problem where a sensor gets covered with a coating after a season, and they just take a little sand paper and sand off that coating. But it takes a real experienced guy to spot immediately what is wrong. There really are no other sources. They are not a repair company, they are a supplier of the gas. They are not a repair place, they are an energy supplier. And it is not uncommon for those people to have crews. The furnace I have, had a board that has little electronic things on it, that cost $250.00, new, and they replaced that board at no cost. And so that program is really a wonderful program. And I don't think they would replace my whole furnace but anything that, so far including that board; circuit board it's called, and they replace that. It was amazing. The only inconvenience is that they had to order it, special to fit my furnace. It was a little delay, but it was done. I can't say enough good things. The expertise and experience of the people that have come out to repair or fix my furnace, they are absolutely experience expert people. Top notch in the field.

My heater stopped working and since I have been paying DTE 21.00 per month for 16 months, I called for service. The house was already cold and we would not have made it through the night. They told me that a service provider would be out in 24 to 32 hours. It was completely unacceptable and I called someone else who came over in 1.5 hours and fixed a very small problem. Of course they would NOT reimburse me and I would advise everyone to save your money. The only plan here is to take your cash and make you miserable.

DTE sent Phils appliance out to look at leaking H2O heater. The service agent said it needed replaced and we would need to call DTE to get a price and suggested we do so. Talked to a rep at DTE, they asked several questions and quoted $943 for replacement of the heater. I agreed and the replacement was scheduled for the next day. When the tech from Phils arrived to replace the non working heater, he said the balance due was $1345 (we had already paid $98 to secure the appointment). After the initial shock I called DTE Home protection plus and was told my only option was to pay the $1345 and they would look into the pricing discrepancy and return my call the following day. Being without hot water and no other option at 5 pm in the evening, I reluctantly agreed. It is now 5 days later and still now word from DTE. To add insult to injury, the install for the water heater was  poor to say the least, exhaust was run out of square as was the gas line. Had a home inspector come out to look at the work and was informed it was not to code. I am looking into my recourse.

The service is good, cost effective because it covers all my appliances, no matter how old they are and if they cannot repair, they will replace.  Good to have the onus of repair off my shoulders and onto someone who can handle - knowing what is wrong, how to fix it, and with what and where to get it from.  Saved us time and headaches.

The first time the DTE professional came out he was there for less than ten minutes. He must of been in a rush because his  vehicle was still running. Did not care what I had to say. Did not do a proper job checking of my furance. He replaced a sensor and was out the door quickly. One week later my furnace is down again at the coldest we had in years.  He look at my furnace found a popped ring an automaticly  said the furnace had a crack heat exchanger and that I needed a new furnace. He disconnect my furnace and out the door he went. I had a second opinion and that was not the problem. My air conditiong coil were plug up. He showed my the heat exchanger and there was no cracks in it. He check to make sure there was no co in the house and that was safe to have the furance on. I am not happy with the serviced I received.
