They are a public utility. They provide gas and power and such, and they just have a program where you can pay them to do a furnace check-up. They were very competent, very thorough, and extremely late without calling me back. They were approximately three hours late.

Got some great advice. Free energy saving shower and sink heads. A free programmable thermostat and wrapped the water heater pipes.

They have an appliance program if you need service for like refrigeration, a washer or a dryer. It's for whatever plan you sign up for. It's a contract, so they send a service person to repair things. They have now developed other services for plumbing and air conditioners. The furnace is on my contract too and not just because of a particular utility. They have their own people for the furnace, but I think that is also under that program too. They had this other program in which you also paid in advance, but if an appliance was not repairable and you've been paying under this program you'd get money back, a check. I had a refrigerator in the basement and it was really old, but I had been using it for a while. The guy said that he couldn't repair it and couldn't find a part because it was so old. I was under that program and got $250 back because they couldn't repair it. I kind of expected that it wouldn't be repaired. The defrost wouldn't work anymore and it so old that they couldn't find a part. I got money back, but the only thing is that I had to get rid of the appliance on my own. DTE also has another program for if you have an old refrigerator. It wasn't old, but we weren't using it. It was actually from a family member that didn't want it anymore. They left it in the garage and they weren't going to take it to their new residence, so I called DTE and they will pick it up. You have to get it to the curb. They'll pick it up and pay you $40 to have you recycle your refrigerator. They have plumbing programs, which I didn't sign up for but I should have when they first initiated it because if I have plumbing problems I can just call them. I wouldn't have to find a plumber like I have in the past. The price is reasonable because I don't have to take out of my pocket. I can scale that, although of course there might be years when I'm paying for it and don't have any appliances that need any work, but it's like an insurance. On one he indicated the value of a particular part, but you don't pay for the part because you're paying for the program. You've already prepaid in advance, so it's covered. The only thing you're paying is to pay DTE if you are in that program.

Way too aggressive taking trees down. Essentially clear cutting. No one can argue with removal of trees that may be a problem to the lines, but they are taking a "clear cutting" approach and cutting down 100 year of oak trees in front of the Academy of Sacred Heart that are either not threatening the lines at all or could be trimmed to not threaten the lines. They are taking down smaller ornamental trees that won't possibly be a problem for 20 years even if they follow their lax "trim cycle" of every 5 years. Very disappointing that they are taking such a slash approach. Every one of the supervisors I have talked to has a different definition of the easement is from the tree to the power lines. They can't tell me whether it is from the pole or lines. Ruining the look of the city and not being responsive to legitimate concerns of the homeowners. There are rumors that this is because a DTE executive lives in the area or that this is because DTE has not been following the trim cycle as they should have been. If they continue with this method, there will be thousands (seriously) of trees cut down

You pay like electrical bill and if they cant repair it they give you money to buy a new product. Usually they are busy.

Refrigerator stopped working. I called DTE home protection services that I subscribe to and within one day they had a service tech at my house fixing the problem. They installed the part, started up the fridge and it's been working fine since. If you have older appliances and you have D tE energy, their home protection plus program is wonderful. The monthly cost is not even close to what the repair would have been by the time you pay for a service call, labor, and the parts. The service calls are free, the parts are, free, and the labor was free. Can't beat that.

We signed up for DTE's furnace and water heater protection plan last fall.
It was the best choice we ever made.
We had the furnace go out 4 times this winter.
Blower motor, exhaust motor, a sensor and something else.
Never the same thing twice.
It seems like it always failed late on a Friday.
They were usually there the next day.
On one occasion they weren't able to get there until Monday.
Twice they didn't have the part and had to run and get it.
The repair people were competent and professional.
Our furnace is about 14 years old.
If your furnace isn't new I would recommend this coverage by DTE

Overall services have been very good up until this last visit. They came out and fixed my furnace, but a two days later the furnace stopped working again. They would call before they would come and overall it was good service.

They have a monopoly. They handled things very well. They do good updates on their hotline. They do follow up and call back with regular updates. They handled the power outage in our neighborhood within 24 hours.

Arrived close to quoted time, did the work quickly and, seeing as how the house hasn't blown up, seemingly well. Pleasant, made suggestions for future repairs but wasn't trying to sell anything.

This is a good service contract I landed with DTE. They come out whenever I need them to fix this old furnace, and the price I pay per year is very reasonable. I highly recommend this service to any and all people that want to take care of their units with the best possible savings in mind. The men that come have all been very professional and answer questions well.

THEY DID A WONDERFUL JOB. I LIKED HOW EFFICIENT THAT THEY WERE. I ALSO LIKED HOW PROFESSIONAL THEY ACTED WHEN THEY CAME TO DO WORK FOR ME. I WOULD MOST DEFINITELY HIRE THEM AGAIN.
