Just fine. My opener has to be at least 20 years old so I was expecting to pay for a new one but he said it’s just normal wear and tear and it works just great.

First service man showed up and immediately said we need a new door and after call in got a quote of $650. Then after looking at it he said we only needed cables, springs, and tracks. I told him the springs were brand new and he said we no longer needed them. Quoted me a price of $250 for the service call, 2 new verticle tracks, and 2 new cables. He said he would return next week and it would be him that way we would not have to worry about getting anything else added or a price change. He guaranteed I would have a perfectly functioning door for that price. The next week 2 different guys came and started work. After a little bit I was told I needed a whole new bottom panel on top of everything else Because it was rusted and would not hold the door. The bottom panel would add an additional cost of $350. Or that I could get a whole new door for $790. A large increase from the first guys price. I told him no thank you and he then wanted to collect the $250. They never put on the new tracks only the cables. I ended up paying $155.80 this was for a service call and $41.80 for cables. Cables that I have purchased in the past for $10.

Went great.  They offered an app't for the day after I called.  Rudy came out and took care of it in less than an hour's time.  It's been working fine so far.

It took one phone call to get things started (which seems normal but apparently wasn't when trying to get garage door companies out). They sent someone out to look at my garage doors the next day. I couldn't be home at the time but told the person doing the walk around, to go ahead over without me there, go in the garage and do what he had to do. I happened to show up at the end of the initial inspection of my old doors and the person explained everything clearly. He told me exactly what needed to be done, the differences between the work with a door opener and without and every aspect of the work before they ever started anything. I was scheduled to have new doors put in less than a week after the first time they came by. On August 4th one solitary experienced technician came by to remove both side by side doors and install new ones. He arrived around 7:30 am, had the old doors removed within one hour. The scrap guys they team up with came by almost immediately and removed the old doors right away. The solo technician then got down to business and within two hours he had all the wood for mounting up, the garage doors assembled and hung and was cleaned up and leaving by 11:15am....again, all by himself. This guy was experienced and good at his job, he showed me how he set the spring tension and doors locks and had the trim and everything looking great before he left. He opened and closed them a few times and the fit and operation was dead on. I definitely recommend using Jan Overhead Door and would certainly use them again in the future.

Examined old door, thorough explanation of why it could not be fixed (replacement parts
not available, old format, and this information confirmed an earlier evaluation,) prompt, friendly, neat; no hassle.
No sales push. Nice.

Spring broke on the door. Could raise the doo to get the car out. I was scheduled to surgery in 2 days and called them late.
They told me they would try and get a man with in 2 days. They had a man there that night.
Response from Jan Door

After our initial phone call to the company, a sales representative promptly came to the house and gave an estimate. After accepting the offer, the installers were at our house and ready to work the next morning. They removed (and carried away the old door),installed the new door, and cleaned up the work area in the same day. We are pleased!

"[removed member name], Thank you for your busy and the kind comments posted on Angie's List! We value our customer's opinions as we're always striving to be the best in our industry giving all our customers the highest level of service and attention to details. We know you will enjoy your new insulated door by Safeway and excellent choice with your residential jackshaft operator! It is amazingly quiet and mounts to the wall as opposed to having a rail assembly come down the middle of your garage - this is a much cleaner application for one's garage. Again, thank you for your kind words! Sincerely, Bill Visnaw Office Manager"

"(deleted member name), Thank you for your business and an all "A" report card! Jeremy takes great pride in being thorough in explaining how your new system will work. I know when I purchased items in the past like a new cell phone for example I am told "here's the manual" and they send me on my way. We on the other hand want you to feel comfortable by knowing all the features of your new system and you can always feel free to call our office should you have a question. Sincerely, Bill Visnaw Office Manager"

Good experience. I visited their showroom in Detroit. Quoted 3 different manufacturers - they were best. I had a coupon they honored with no questions. They contracted the door install to Paul's door - quick, and thorough! I am very pleased.

"(member name removed), Thank you for your kind words and excellent grading! It was actually Bob who installed your door & operator and he has been with our company for a number of years. Bob does excellent work and takes great pride in each installation as if it were his own home. Your LiftMaster 3/4hp Chain Drive Operator is capable of working with a "smart phone" with an optional piece of equipment called the "Internet Gateway System" With no start up fees or annual renewal fees you simply download an ap to your phone where you can open/close your door from virtually anywhere in the world or check the doors status and know if it open or closed and for how long. Please feel free to call us for more details and pricing. And again on behalf of all us here at Jan Overhead Door - THANK YOU for your business! Sincerely, Bill Visnaw Office Manager"

I know this review is way after the fact, but I have been waiting a long time to vent. I hired this firm on a friend's recommendation to install a front door and a door to the garage (from house). Since installation, neither door closes well. I was too stupid to know that they were not installed "square". The gaps around the doors range from a hairs width to 3/8". The doors are not even flush with the jamb. The door to the garage has to be deadbolted at certain times of the year because the latch won't keep it closed. Both doors leak cold air in the winter. This has happened since the day they were installed. Also, I expected that the door to the garage would be the same size as the one I was replacing (30"). When they quoted me, they didn't tell me that the one they were going to install would reduce the size of the door opening about 1-1/2". This door is right at the top of the stairs to the basement. Previous to this installation, I could bring a washing machine through the door and down the stairs. Now I can't. I now have to bring larger items in through the front door. If you hire this company, be very specific about what you expect before you commit and make a thorough inspection of the work. Make sure you get what you wanted, make sure the door is square and don't pay them until they fix it.
Response from Jan Door
"Several issues need to be addressed regarding this complaint from 13 years ago. First of all, after investigating this complaint there were no opportunities (in 13 years) given to rectify her complaints. New installation warranties are one year from the date of the installation – this is standard in our industry. However, we do extend this within a reasonable amount of time as we do stand behind our products and workmanship. Homes and garages can shift which can and will create uneven gaps over a period of time. Temperature changes from season to season will also affect openings. She backs this statement by stating “the door to her garage has to be dead bolted certain times of the year because the latch won’t keep it closed.” To the issue of door sizing, our industry basically mirrors the window industry in that when a replacement window is going into an existing opening the window viewing area (opening) is smaller that what was installed originally. Same principle applies with an entry door replacement. Actual shrinkage in opening size is typically 1”. As you can see by reading other reports, we have very positive feedbacks. Again, no opportunity were given in a reasonable amount of time to resolve any issues and we would have been more than happy to address and solve any complaints she has stated."
