Adams Power Wash

About us

All work is billed when the job is completed. That gives the customer the guarantee that we will complete the job to the best of our ability in a timely manor. All the risk is on us. For exceptionally large jobs, a portion of payment may be requested after the wash, but before the seal. Again, that is in the case where a large amount of material has to be purchased to complete the project.

Kim and Randy at Adams Power Wash have been my go-to guys ever since I first tried them nearly a decade ago. They're fast, professional and worth every penny. I have them come out every two years like clockwork (even if the deck still looks good - just my way of keeping everything pristine). We went through any number of companies before finding them. And we'll never go anywhere else!

Randy and Kim are very helpful and informative. their crews are all hard workers. We had them out last week and they did a great job. Everyone was very polite from the phone call I made to making the appointment to the end of the job with the staff. We have used Adam's Powerwashing for years. I would highly recommend their services.

Adams came out and did the job that others said could not be done. They cleaned up really well and treated it. They did a beautiful job and I would highly recommend them. Even their price was very reasonable as well and I will hire them again. .

The service provided last spring went pretty much as expected with a power wash, treat and stain of our cedar deck. The home and deck is about 18 years old and we've lived in this home for 11 years. I've had the deck treated and stained basically every 3 years since we've been here. By mid-winter (8/9 months after service) I could already see that the product used was either sub-par or the application was improper. The surfaces (both horizontal and vertical) are practically bare in multiple areas all over the deck. I went to their website in late March and sent a short note asking for contact to discuss the matter. After 2+ weeks went by with no response, I called the business. I was told that the web site hadn't been working and they received no messages. I explained that my deck looks like it's been years since it was serviced and it had been less than a year. I have taken a dozen pictures to document it and offered to send them to them. I was shut down immediately and told that it's my deck or the products fault. "The product should last 3 or more years but sometimes it doesn't and it's not our fault, we just apply it." So they are applying a product that doesn't last 1 year and they don't guarantee their work for anything. I insisted that they should take a look at the pictures. Anyone that saw how bad this looks would know immediately that something was wrong. She said she would let Randy know and maybe he would come take a look. I was never contacted again and he never came by. In less than one year, my deck looks horrible. Bare and peeling all over the deck on multiple surfaces. Mr. Clean is not even concerned enough to even look at pictures to see how bad it is. And they do not stand behind the product or their work enough to correct a job that didn't last through one winter. As someone who has had cedar decks for a total of 16 straight years, I've never seen anything like this. Couldn't be more disappointed in such shoddy work that Mr. Clean will not stand behind or fix. Do not hire.

"I apologize, we are not on-line often and was not aware of this review. However, this project was followed through and handled with our regular phone communication to the customer. A picture of the completed job is so pretty, it is used as our advertising picture on Yelp. You can go to Mr Clean Power Washing Yelp to see the picture. Or click on this link: [Information Removed] History of the project: This was a referral from a friend. The deck had a heavy coat of a different product the customer had been putting on the deck for years. We did a heavy chemical strip (normally billed at $1.00/ sq. ft. was discounted to normal wash price of $.55 / sq. ft) We used TWP to seal the deck. The customer called back during our busiest time of the year which are the two months of May and June. His complaint here was basically smack dab in the middle of our 15 hour days. I am not trying to excuse the fact that I did not get immediately right back to him. I am trying to give great customer service to each and every customer we have. Every single customer is important to us. Every single customer would love to have their project done as soon as possible. Michigan has a short season for everyone to enjoy their yards. Also, sealing decks has to be done when we have sunny days. We have way more rain during this busy time, than dry days. We work through the weather obstacles as best we can. We may not be fast enough for everyone, but we try. I also have to say we make the vast majority of our customers very happy with the quality of our work, our timeliness and our customer service. Without seeing this review, as in it did not prompt our attention to this customer, we resolved his issues. As stated, the chemical used to strip his old product prohibited the new sealer from staying on his deck. We use a lot of water to flush the deck after the strip trying to get all the chemical out of the wood. Then we sealed the deck. He was concerned because the sealer seemed to not stay on the wood. He called and voiced his concern. We appreciate that. We did contact him. We did go back. We did re-wash the deck to even it out again and re-flush the deck. We also re-sealed his deck. Please go to the picture on this site. That is the finish picture. We value every customer. We do our best. The nature of what he had on his deck and what had to be done to get it off had a direct effect on how the next sealer could hold. Thank you for reading our response. We hope you someday will be one of our valued customers"

Large deck, took 8-9 days of work performed over 2+ weeks. But wanted sides and vertical surfaces sanded as well, only did horizontal surfaces due to safety concerns with sander kick-back. So now I have to determine what to do about all surfaces before refinishing or sealing. Sanding that was performed was excellent. All deck nails (hundreds) were all set prior to sanding, very tedious work.

They sent an employee who did a terrible job powerwashing. He didn't wait until it was dry to stain. It was not done properly. The deck, balcony, and porch look terrible. He also damaged our rear door window frame, front door, and siding. He acknowledged the damage and said to contact the company. The company refuses to give insurance information or pay for the the damages and they refuse to reply by email and say that we have to schedule a phone call. We scheduled a phone call with the owner and he never called us. Now they are ignoring all of our communication. I would advise if you are going to give this business a chance to take all of the insurance information up front.

"I am responding to this in the year 2019. I have not been on Angie's List for years and did not know this was posted until today. I have no record of business with [Member Name Removed] in the year 2016 or any other year. We are not power washing in November nor December. Most of our work is done April, May and June. The work performed after that is still a reasonable amount, however the volume of work diminishes in the following months. All of our work is completed by September. She wrote this in December. The damage she describes is impossible to do with a power washer. We do not seal a wet deck....ever. The entire scenario this person describes is ludicrous. Adams Power Wash has been in business for over 30 years. We are an excellent company and work hard to retain repeat customers. Please read our other reviews. The person who wrote this either has the wrong company, or has left a fraudulent report. I will be in touch with Angie's list regarding this post."

The re-staining of the deck was very sloppy in my opinion and as compared to other providers.   Multiple plants were damaged  from over-spray, and vinyl home trim had deck paint painted on it where deck met house.  Owners husband (person who did the work) returned upon complaint and was extremely rude, aggressive, and extremely unprofessional.  Though obvious that he had been sloppy, he denied that he did it and became quite aggressive and belligerent .  With this escalated situation, I deemed it better for him to leave immediately somewhat in fear of his next actions if he remained.  I have cleaned his sloppiness myself not wanting him to ever return.
Response from Adams Power Wash
"Mr. [Member Name Removed] procured Adams Power Wash to Wash his home, then Clean and Paint his deck. The home was covered in dirt and mold. It came out spotless. The deck was previously painted, several times. We cleaned the deck, prep for repaint. When we clean, we note areas that had been painted before, and may have been sloppy so we know it wasn't done by us. There were areas on Mr. [Member Name Removed]'s home that had previous over-paint. We were at his home to paint, and Mr. [Member Name Removed] had the wrong color. So we had to wait for him to get the correct color. When the correct paint was available, we had two men on the job. Mr. [Member Name Removed] was there during the work. He oversaw the entire job. He was happy. The men used tarps on all areas. Again, Mr. [Member Name Removed] was right there. He was very happy with the job, told the men so and had called to tell me so. Several days later, Mr. [Member Name Removed] called and left an aggressive message on our answering machine. When I received the message, I called him right back. He apologized for the message he left and asked if Randy could come out and take a look, and fix areas that were sloppy on the house. He did mention that somehow paint got on some leafy shrubs and the leaves were turning brown. He also, acknowledged that those same shrubs did have tarps on them. Randy went back to do whatever was needed. Mr. [Member Name Removed] pointed out two areas where the deck butts up next to the house, the width of a pencil approx. 3" long. When Randy said those were from one of the previous paint jobs, not ours, Mr. [Member Name Removed] became irate and told Randy to leave. Again, I say, Mr. [Member Name Removed] was there at the time of service and he was fine with how the work was performed and how the deck finished. He was really angry when Randy said it wasn't us. Our work was very good. Mr. [Member Name Removed] has a very nice deck and a very clean home. We are proud of our work. Mr. [Member Name Removed] was there during the work and at it's completion and was very happy. It is unfortunate that Mr. [Member Name Removed] took that stance after the work was completed."

"Adams Power Wash has been in business for 26 years. We have been through 26 Michigan springs. The first month of weather is usually hostile. We cannot seal decks when they are wet. We also cannot wash decks in lightning storms. This years weather certainly slowed us down. We also had our best weather days on holidays and weekends. Our employees also have families and are not required to work. Our work is good, and our service is good. We have many customers (praise the Lord) that we need to work into the few days of safe weather we had in that month. We marched through all our work-orders as quickly and safely as we could. Not everyone can be first in line. Sorry."

Due to weather, not much could be done about timing, but once weather cleared, the job was done pretty quickly. I was also called to warn about the wet color of the paint (purple) and when the paint dried (red) just to make sure I was ok with my color choice

Called them based on a flyer we received. Our situation was analyzed over the phone, but once the crew arrived to do the job they had the office make other recommendations. We were then advised we'd have to buy paint by one company rep. The paint was purchased because we had no way of knowing when the guys were coming back to complete the job. Then the original rep we spoke with called to advise against painting and recommended a staining process. We had to convince Lowes to take back the paint (since it was mixed for us). Once the job was done, it took the deck almost a week to dry and the wood looks warped. Also sections that were supposed to be sanded as indicated during conversation and specified on invoice were NEVER done. We made the office aware of this in writing when we sent payment but never heard from anyone as a follow up. Also, did not like the fact that we had no way of knowing when they were coming to do the job. We were just told they would come by when they had a crew in the area. In our experience we would advise using a company that has someone come survey your situation in person before recommending the service they provide for you. Every situation is different. Adams may be good for some customers but we will NEVER use them again!

"We are sorry to see this review. [member name removed] had an unknown sealer on her deck. I, Kim, did recommend for her to get a similar sealer to match the old which would not come off. She called on a weekend while at Lowes to approximate how much she needed. I was not in the office, but the phone transfered to my cell. She was in the process of purchasing a product that would have caused her more grief. We were able to direct her to a different product for less money. As far as not being able to give her an exact time to come out, any one in Michigan is aware of our very wet spring summer. It is impossible to schedule an outdoor paint with everyday projecting 60% chance of rain. She is not our only customer waiting for the rain to stop so we can complete their project. We have been doing our best working between the raindrops this year. As for the deck not being sanded, it is written on the work-order with no addition cost. I was, until now, unaware that it had not been sanded. We have a policy to not ask for payment until work is complete. That policy is to insure all work is done to the customers satisfaction within the bounds of practicality and budget. All customers are aware of this from the onset of working with us. All customers are also asked to voice any questions and concerns so we are all on the same page and the customer is happy. [member name removed] did not voice any of this to me. Her project is completed and paid for. If the project is paid without, I have no reason to believe there is any outcome other than happy with our work. I ask any future customer who reads this, to please allow for communication. Sometimes a ball gets dropped, we are only human. However, I never ask anyone to pay for a project until it is completed in a matter that is satisfactory. All [member name removed] had to do is make a call."

They came out promptly to wash and prep deck for sealing. I discussed the process and fee's with the owner. It was explained to me that there was an extra elevation charge because of the extra work and care of cleaning and rinsing the underside and lowere level. The amount of sludge and residue left on my natural stone steps, solar lighting, concrete patio, wicker furnature, windows, screens and everything near by including everything that we had removed from the deck to avoid this is unacceptable. I tried rinsing it off but it doesn't budge. I have called 3 times and left messages explaining the mess but no one has returned my call. There lack of customer service is why I am writing this review. They also left a mess at our other location and still have not returned my call to address this.
We just had the house washed and the windows and screens cleaned by a different company last month and I was assured by Adams Powere Wash (Viking ) there would be no mess.

After they finally called me back, they came as soon as possible to clean up. The workers were very sympathetic and hard working. They took as much time as necessary to clean. When they came back to stain the large deck, the job looked great.
Response from Adams Power Wash
"We are aware that she has residue left behind after the wash. The wash was completed at the end of the work week. We are not finished with the work. We will be returning to address it today, Monday. Residue is rinsed as much as we can. Residue is transparent during the wash, we rinse even if we don't see it. When it dries, you may see more. We will come back.[member name removed] called after hours. We have returned her call to let her know we are coming out."

For many years, I periodically power washed and restained the deck with a product recommended by a well known paint store. It never worked well. The stain which was more like a paint, would mildew and look bad within a season. Washing with deck cleaner helped but only temporarily. Then I contacted Adams Power Wash based on review on Angie's list. They were terrific. The estimate was professional, and the scheduling and work was great. Last year, for the first time, the deck held looked great all season and came through the winter looking good. The price was high but fair. In my case, I paid more because the size of my deck was smaller than the minimum square feet for them to drive to my location. The quality made the price worth it.

Overall, it went well, although I would have liked it done in a more timely fashion. Before they came to power wash I spent an afternoon of precious time, cleaning all my deck furniture so that it would be ready for the new clean deck. I was told not to move the furniture off the deck because they could just move it from one area to another. After the power washing with the chemical was finished, there were splash marks all over the newly cleaned furniture and on the plants around the deck. It has not yet come off with water, so I'm hoping it will come off with some scrubbing. Also, he left my hose on and dripping, which was only noticed two days later. The workers were friendly and efficient with their respective jobs when they were at my home. The man who did the carpentry work and the sealing was very professional. I also liked the phone call to tell me they would be there the next day for the washing, but I did not receive another phone call for the sealing. The end result is very nice, and I will probably use them again.

The worker came out and did the powerwashing, which included chemically treating it at the same time, while we were home and completed it all within 1-2 hours and deck looked great the next day (it had been a few years since we had washed and treated it). Over the weekend they sealed the deck and came back on Monday to verify we were satisfied before presenting the invoice. As DIY'ers over the years the price was well worth having it done professionally and in a very timely manner! Kim, who provided quote and answered original questions over the phone was great to work with.
