"Lake Electronics Group has been providing security [Member Information Removed] services to the metropolitan Detroit area for more than 35 years. At Lake Electronics Group we always strive to give the best possible service. Monitoring phone calls did not stop after we acquired the company from the past owner as the customer stated. Quite the opposite, there was a seamless transition as all the B-Safe systems were still being monitored 24 hours a day by the same Central Station [Member Information Removed] personnel who monitored the alarms for the past owners. COVID has presented some challenges for all businesses including ours. Our operators continued to provide 24/7 monitoring during COVID by working remotely. It is possible that the customer disarmed the alarm before our Central Station received the signal. Once an alarm is triggered, there is a delay giving the customer time to input their code in case of a false alarm. At Lake Electronics Group as was the case with B-Safe Security, we strongly recommend that customers test their system at least once a month to make sure that Central Station is, in fact, getting a signal. Lake Electronics did not send this customer to collections. They were sent a buyout letter letting them know how much they owed due to the remaining time left on their 5-year contract. It is important to note, a contract that they had signed with the previous owners that transferred to Lake Electronics Group. They had a zero balance thru the end of December but still owed for the remaining 2 ½ years left on their contract. We are always happy to work with our customers if they move. They are given the opportunity to get service at their new home or we can transfer the alarm to the new home owner. We have never nor would we ever insist that a monitoring agreement from a previous property need be enforced or insinuated to the customers new home."
Imagine our surprise to realize months later that the technician DISCONNECTED ALL OF OUR WINDOWS from the
system without telling us! This caused a significant problem for us with people entering our house through a basement window. We thought we had a fully-functioning alarm system but it was deliberately and secretly disengaged by the Lake Electronics technician! Owner Mike Rosen came to examine the system and apologized for the action of his technician. He had no explanation for the lazy and dangerous ?repairs? that had been done, nor for the disconnected windows. He promised to make it right for us and take care of it for free.
The same tech came out in July to remedy his shoddy work. Although we were skeptical that he could do the work, we trusted Mike. We misplaced our trust. Within a day, it was evident that the system did not work. The day after the work was
finished, I phoned the Mike Rosen at least a dozen times to tell him that the system wasn?t working. Each time I requested a call back from him and I NEVER RECEIVED A CALL. Not one!
Since Mike never returned any calls, we were forced to hire another company to fix the system. In less than a day that company got the system working flawlessly. They commented to me on the low quality work that Lake Electronics had done. Connections had been twisted and taped rather than soldered. There were so many splices and extra lines added that the resistance on each line was 10 times what it should have been. Contacts were placed outside of the weather stripping on the windows inviting water leaks into the system. The most basic principles of quality had been ignored and short-cutted by Lake Electronics.
Lake Electronics has had the nerve to bill us for this work done in July. It is beyond belief. I would never trust them with my home again.
