Deck and Porch Service, Pressure Washing + 1 more
Deck Tech: AKA: Deck Restore came out and powerwashed the deck and ZERO communication from them without being prompted otherwise thereafter. ( I always had to contact them to get answers) They took "FOURTY SIX DAYS" between power washing the deck to come out and complete the job and added another $125 to the bill "claiming" they had additonal sanding to do. My deck sat out untreated for that long. I had to contact them to tell them my deck was turning gray. They came out "UNANNOUNCED" and powerwashed it a second time and told me I'm lucky they didn't charge me for a second powerwashing! What??? Today, the FOURTY SIXTH DAY, they came out to seal the deck after I threatened to have someone else complete the job if they didn't show. My camera indicates they were out here for 2 hours and 40 minutes TOTAL! Also, there are drip marks. I am convinced they are trying to monolpolize the deck jobs in the area and giving people quotes, taking 1/2 down and returning whenever there aren't anymore jobs to grab. TERRIBLE EXPERIENCE!! My sister used Woodgrain Powerwashing & Deck Repair (248-254-2566) and they did a FANTASTIC job in only TWO DAYS!!!! I actually had a quote from them as well during the 46 days waiting and the quote was much less. While Deck Techs/Deck Restore blamed weather, my sister lives 5 miles away and has the same weather. Pretty sure we had plenty of sunny days in the past 46 days! My advice to you is don't waste your time or money. My teenagers could have done a better job! NO WAY this place is staying in business.

I used Deck-Techs 3 years ago to stain my deck. They were slow to respond I call them in early spring but it was around august 1 before they got around to doing the job. They just showed up late one day and It was dark when they finished but they did do a nice job. Fast forward to this year and I call them in late May this time and it was mid June before I got my estimate. I told them it would have to be completed by 7/15 and it would have been done but there were a few weather delays. Again a good job was done but it looks like another coat of sealer could/ should/needs to be applied to the more sun exposed areas. When the power washing was done they wanted half the money which is OK but they wanted the check written to Deck Revive. They would not accept a credit card as it states in angieslist. I assume that Deck-Techs sub-contracted the job to Deck Revive but I am not sure if Deck-Techs just changed their name or whatever. It was just a little disconcerting and I could not find any reviews of Deck Revive on the net.

He strung us along until late June and then stopped returning calls. I just joined Angie's list. If I had seen his reviews earlier I could have saved both of us a lot of time
Response from DECK-TECHS
"last year both of my work trucks were in accidents of not my fault, one a young girl pulled out in front of me doing 40 mph, van totaled. 6 days later fuel pump went out in a customers driveway, so I called my towing company, they loaded my van on a flatbed backward, the driver opened my doors to find my vin# on the sticker located inside door panel, he did not shut my doors completely, so while in tow, both of my doors buckled from the wind of pulling and smashed the front fenders as well as bent both doors, I had full coverage on both, but it took six weeks to get one van back on the road, two more weeks for the other, customer was not willing to wait, was very rude to me on the phone, I had no way at the time to complete the work, I have serviced their direct neighbor for over 12 years and they are pleased with my work, sometimes things happen which are out of our control, they would not understand, I never took a deposit, so why did they not just call another company instead of writing something negative about us? I could understand if I had taken a deposit, but I did not. I feel this post was very unfair as they knew what was going on,"

The technician came out to my home to provide me an estimate for the service. He was extremely honest with me and basically explained that because of the way the deck have previously been treated, he would not be able to power wash it properly. He also let me know that if he were to try it would cost more than the deck was worth and could possibly damage the deck beyond repair. He felt bad that he wasn't able to help us, but I felt relieved to have met someone honest enough to tell me the truth even though it cost them the job.

We hired them in the summer to powerwash and restain a deck at my Mother's condo. They were busy and so did not come out until early October. During the power wash, cleaning chemicals and debris were splattered on the windows of the next door neighbor who complained to the tech and was rudely and unprofessionally treated. They had a verbal altercation and the neighbor complained to us about it. We requested they clean or pay to clean the neighbors windows and they did come out and do that. Then we waited for them to come and apply the stain which they did do in mid October....5 hours ahead of a rain that lasted 3 days. We asked them about the wisdom of applying stain ahead of a known rain storm, and were told it had plenty of time to dry. So apply stain they did, the rain came, and, of course, the stain was washed down the sides. The deck was left with run marks all over the railings and splatter marks in the deck surface from the partially dried stain getting hit with raindrops. Unfortunately, we had paid in full the day they stained. We called and told the owner of this unacceptable situation and he promised to come out and fix it. The weather turned too cold for staining at that point so I called the owner again in the spring and was assured we were on the list and that he would be out to redo the deck. I called again in early summer and left a message asking when they would be coming. No response. We put in another call recently. Since there has been no call back, and after reading the other reviews here, I think it's safe to say I will not be hearing back from them. All we wanted was the job we paid for!

He did the work and we payed him all the money. It looked great for 2 weeks, then it went back to being white. He won’t return our calls or come back. I had to hire someone else to fix it. A second opinion is saying the products he used were incorrect.

The two men who came to strip the deck and prepare the pavers left a mess from the chemicals they used and also caused a few plants to die. Then it took another month for them to come finish the job. We moved the furniture off our deck several times when they said they would be here and then did not show. The stain on the deck wore off the first year and so did the product applied to the pavers. The products must have been diluted as this had never happened in the past when my husband did the job. We made at least 6 phone calls last summer and received no response. I even told them I was going to report them to Angie's List and to the Better Business Bureau. The pavers and the deck look so horrible that we will have to redo it this summer. They deserve an F in every category.

Took a while to get to us, but was worth the wait. Did an excellent job. Needed to have a large number of boards replaced and owner arranged to have carpenter come and do this part of the service. Employees were careful, courteous and cleaned up.

Deck and Porch Service
Took a while to get to us during summer season (signed in April - came in July). Had bid on doing work on lattice, but said later it wasn't worth repairing. Took more days than anticipated to complete job (partially because of weather). Deck looks good and repels water at the end.
