"We do not use round up on lawns and the customer has been repeatedly told over and over again. After over two years of the customer calling and getting free advise from us on how to care for his lawn. Free estimates and free advise. With out hiring us. He failed. We have a 6 foot tiller that leaves no clumps, the customr had Foxtail Grass growing into his seeded lawn. We advised him over and over how to handle the problem. offering our time and service. The customer refused, acted like a crazy man over his lawn. The customer sat with us for many many many hours demanding our time. Not respecting our other clients. Insisting we rush to his home at his demand. Not as our schedule would allow. We do offer a turf route that the customer refused after the installation of his seeded lawn. He informed us he would maintenance it himself. When he failed at it again. it had to be the fault of some one else. Not himself. So now here he is. Showing us, for not running to him after he refused our turf route services, and failing at maintaining his lawn. We offered many times our services to him. The customer, is the type of retired person whom has nothing better to do than try to take care of his yard. When he failed he went off like a banshie, Calling our home, leaving nasty messages on our voice mail. threatening us. Yelling at our children when they would pick up our home phone. We only conduct work through our work phone. Not our home phone. Good luck."
To my dismay, I found--out after the fact--that on June 1 my wife paid the landscaper the balance of the quoted price, so that he could purchase the sod (though it probably went to pay for his honeymoon, which was soon thereafter). Instead of the work getting done shortly after, I had to initiate contact with him several times, and each time he'd promised he'd be there the following week--but never showed up. I finally insisted that the work must be done by July 7 (we were leaving on vacation on July 9). He arrived on that blisteringly hot day with sod, but with no one to help him and no equipment to transport the sod from the cart to the lawn. I absolutely needed the job done before we left, so I, the customer, helped him unload and lay the sod. While doing so, I found out that he put other jobs before mine because the customers complained more than I did.
The work was finally done, and what followed was a July that was in the 90s almost daily--which meant that my neighbor (while we were on vacation) and I had to water the lawn continually just to keep it alive.
The landscaper had offered a free lawn treatment in the fall to make up for the inconvenience. When I called him about it (in late September), he didn't recall making the offer. I suggested an alternate service he could provide (I wanted to purchase more sod, but needed him to deliver it), but he stumbled over his words and said he'd get back to me. I called back twice, leaving a message, and emailed him with the Angle's List report I would turn in unless he got back with me. That was a few weeks ago. So, here's my report.
