The engineer did a review of my property save me money in a long run.

I met this week with Steve at SJW Engineering LLC to discuss a residential build where the design includes various engineered beams in the ridge and flooring for a cabin in Northern Michigan. Steve was super helpful, and gave us confidence in our approach to the design. Very knowledgeable, experienced and professional. I would recommend SJW to anyone needing expertise in this area.

We played lot of phone tag but eventually got together and we are submitting stamped plans to our city for a basement foundation issue that needs correcting.

Steven came to inspect my home on May 20, 2023. On June 13 he sent a report, via text, with someone elses address on it. To date he has refused to correct the report or reimburse the $900 fee. Extremely disappointed. ***** UPDATE Sadly, my experience with Steven M. Whitican P.E. lead to an arbitration case for breach of contract.

Very prompt, we were able to get the report quickly and submit it to the bank in a timely fashion for our needs! Thank you so much!

He reviewed the structural integrity of our log cottage and made recommendations. Still waiting for a small update on the final report.

Contacted SJW to do a structural analysis on a cantilever balcony I was adding to my home. The analysis was required by the Livingston County Building Commission. Even though I was just a homeowner and probably will never require a structural engineer in the future, Steven treated me with respect. We spent a lot of time on the phone going over my prints and options to achieve my goal. Steven was very informative and knowledgeable. What a great experience and people to work with⠦⠦ Thanks Steven!!!!!!

While Steven had a last minute reschedule in order to perform his inspection, he was very courteous in his communication prior to, during, and after the appointment. His insight and expertise gave us the assurance we needed to know what we'll need and when with our roof.
