My experience with Paul, of Tri-county Home Inspection, was a very positive ones. He quoted me slightly higher than the competition for the same work, which is fully justified. He inspects one home per day, and he gives it his all.
Here are a few highlights:
- Paul is very thorough. He makes sure to touch on everything that you can think of, and then some.
- He is there to do a complete job, not to just check the boxes, wrap it up and take off.
- If you want another look at something, he will openly do it for you and will not make you feel bad about it.
- He will talk to you, is open to discuss things with you, and will answer your questions.
- His inspection will take a very long time, which is a good thing.
- He will produce an good, long, thorough, honest report for you. He will make sure you understand what you are getting into.
- He has retired from his construction work and is not there to sell his services. He will not recommend a contractor friend of his for work either. He deliberately and consciously stays away from positions of conflicting interest.
- Lastly, the appraiser (appointed by the lender) picked on an issue with the house. I asked Paul to help me investigate it. He first made sure he is not in a position of conflicting interests, he then came out for a second visit, went through the questions, and produced a second report, all complementary to the initial service.
Paul is a very professional inspector. I will recommend him to friends and family.
Paul did not rush through the process. He said it would take two hours but is was a little longer which I appreciated. He gave me helpful tips on some minor issues that I can easily fix myself. Paul checked: all appliances, cupboards (condo unoccupied/looked for rodent infestation), electrical outlets/switches, furnace, water (drains, toilets, faucets), garbage disposal, sliding glass doors, front/back doors and garage door/opener. Paul found two gas leaks in the basement. Our realtor contacted seller's realtor to fix the problem. Paul said he would come back to recheck that the gas leaks were fixed.
Would highly recommend Paul to anyone looking for a home inspection.
Found Tri County Home Inspection on Angie's List
- Very solid service across the board. They only do 1 inspection a day so there was no rush. Explained every detail and potential issue.
Even though the condo owner is not responsible for roofs or attics, you will end up paying for the repairs if the association does not have enough in reserves to pay for those repairs. Although he spent a lot of time there, a lot of it was spent talking to the owners, who were present. All in all, it was a very basic inspection and I was not impressed at all. I would have to say to look elsewhere for an inspector.
"We rescheduled this inspection 3 times for our customers convenience however their is NO excuse for our inspectors to be late arriving at the home or Condo. Our policy is to arrive 20 to 30 minutes early to every inspection and because of this review we have made changes in our scheduling procedure to make sure this is taken care of, all of our employees have been made aware of how important it is to stay on schedule. As for the roof inspection on a Condo, we only inspect what you are responsible for, the same roof covers all of the attached Condos in the same building and is re-roofed when necessary by the association, The Condo Association takes FULL responsibility for the exterior of the complete building this includes the roof, insulation and main structure of the building and is explained in the Association bylaws. Take a few minutes to read the past reviews that our company has received over the last several years, if you have any questions about our services please contact us a 248 563 6789 and after the inspection we urge our clients to send in reviews of our services this helps us to give better service to You our client."
I can't write this enough, I am very pleased with their inspection services!
>Friendly
>Gave some helpful home repair tips.
Cons:
>Higher priced than other inspection companies I researched.
>3% up charge for credit card vs. cash.
>I don't think he is a licensed home inspector. I would recommend someone who is licensed.
>Wanted payment up front vs. at the end of the inspection.
>Communicated alot of process things that he could not do because of "his" insurance regulations.
>Does not do air or radon testing.
>2 individuals were doing the inspection, which did not allow for me to be with both of them at the same time, to see what they were looking at/for.
>I could have done what they did - if I had a gas tester.
>One of the individuals was older and in poor physical health. My opinion is that he should not be inspecting homes.
>I would have preferred that he spend more time inspecting and less time providing helpful tips.
"No matter how many negative remarks we get, no one from my inspection team will ALTER or change our inspection procedure. If the problem isn't there we call it like it is. If it is there it is in the report. We give only honest reports with advice on how to correct it. I have over 40 years building experience I hold a Michigan Builders License, my partner has over 30 years repair and rehab experience. Honestly and integrity is what our company is built on. If you're looking for a through inspection, call us, if your looking for someone to make you feel good or someone to put something in a report that doesn't exist, don't waste your time or ours. We're asked all the time to put issues in a report that just isn't there just so Someone can try and bargain a lower price or just look the other way by the seller, If you're looking for a good inspection with information on how to fix issues that may arrive call us. Read the other 70 remarks from past customers, you make the decision. If you have any questions e-mail me at [email protected] if you would like to talk to me direct call me at 2485636789 between 7 and 11pm"
Paul was professionally exceptional in his thoroughness and explaining everything to the homeowner. He inspected every electrical outlet in the house, inspect3ed for gas leaks and did a complete and thorough inspection of the entire property both inside and out. He pointed out minor repairs and other moderate issues to be addressed. The house passed inspection and repairs will be made prior to closing on the property.
His knowledge went over and above expectations and I would recommend Paul to anyone buying, selling or maintaining their most valuable asset. Would hire again in a heartbeat.

We will be recommending Paul for anyone looking for home inspection needs.
