We started looking for contractors to remodel our kitchen in fall of 2011. Contacted Joe Allen at Complete Renovations. We discuss different options over 2-3 visits. Decided to do the project in May 2012. Joe had phoned us monthly to see if we were ready. Decided to go with Complete Renovations since they had given us the most feedback and attention. They contracted to tear out existing cabinets, furnish and installed new cabinets, trim molding, fabricate and installed granite countertops, contracted out for plumbing services to connect sink, faucet, and garbage disposal, contracted out flooring chosen by us, contracted out to install ceramic back splash, install new dishwasher, frig, stove , microwave prev purchased. After meeting so many times we felt Joe understood what we wanted and would give us the best job for the money, however that changed quickly. When we went to sign the acceptance contract, some of our ideas failed to make it in to the contract , and even though they were discussed and quoted price for but of coursed now "could be added but would cost more than the originally stated price".Some of the things we discussed that either were added or now unable to afford were ceramic back splash, faux front to the end of cabinet, microwave vented through roof and installing appliances. The signing of the contract also not what Angie recommends. $7,000 due upon signing, $3.500 due upon the delivery of cabinets, balance due upon installation of cabinetry which was one of the first things done after tear out, and not at completion of contract. The little voice in the back of my head said "GO,DO NOT RETURN" but stupidly we went forward after a discussion that that was the way he(Joe) insured that he got paid, and we would work with him until we were satisfied if there was a problem. Tear out was fine, dumpster provided to haul away, cabinets delivered on time, then installation of cabinets started. Our original drawing we signed for included an over hang at the end of the cabinets to leave us with an area we could buy stools for to sit at the counter top instead of always sitting at the table. The cabinets were not made that way so we lost that because what was installed already wouldn't work now. The faux front was not done (neither of us noticed it wasn't in the contract) could be added for more money even though we were quoted price to include that. The counter tops on either side of stove are at different levels, and no molding to keep junk from falling down sides of stove. The plumber came, did his bit well, but it was my husband who had to help install dishwasher not contractor. Electrical was called by us, not in contract and additional expense to run 220v line for stove, my husband installed stove, not contractor. Microwave was not vented to roof and make a rattling noise when used which is horrible. Flooring /grout was not sealed or even mentioned that it needed it , grout is not smooth, is uneven, looks sloppy. Some of the cabinets had felt to close quietly, some missing. Spaces between drawers, cabinet doors uneven, and end cabinet doesn't open all the way making it difficult to use. (Joe told, said he would look for different hinge, but it is the same today.) Cabinets chip easily even though only year old. No painting or plaster work done although needed. Complete Renovations was not totally complete. After calling several times to get things fixed we just gave up with Complete Renovations, we no longer wanted to deal with them We would fix the rest ourselves some how. We feel we paid a lot for sloppy service. We would never use this company again and never refer them to anyone.
