Budget Basements

Phil was great at keeping in contact, mostly via text message, working around our schedules and enduring our nutty little dogs. He employed some good guys to work on the project.

Phil and his team did an excellent job finishing our basement.  Things went very well from beginning to end.
Phil was very timely in providing an estimate.  The estimate was very competitive.  Phil was flexible in allowing us to do some of the work ourselves, which allowed us to fit the entire project within our budget.
        Phil and his team were very attentive in executing to the blue print provided in the estimate.  We were able to work with Phil and make changes to the plan along the way.  The craftsmanship was excellent in all areas.  Phil discovered some current issues with our house and he was able to incorporate the repairs in the overall project.  When we had concerns over any part of the project, Phil was always willing to listen and make the necessary changes/repairs.
        Overall I would recommend Budget Basements for any finished basement project.  Phil and his team were very professional and considerate.

We loved working with Phil and his crew! From the very beginning, Phil was very professional and easy to work with. His initial visit went quickly (unlike one two hour contractor visit we had with someone else that didn't even result in a quote!) but we were left with the impression that A) he knew what he was doing, B) understood what we wanted, and C) would do it well. And the quote reflected just that. His price was very competitive and reasonable. Furthermore, this initial visit was just as the rest of the job was - efficient, high quality, and taking into consideration all of our needs. Phil was also flexible to changes we requested along the way. His crews were the same - professional, clean, and timely. This was our first major home construction project and we were so pleased with the process and we love our beautiful basement! We would definitely work with Phil again in the future and highly recommend him!

From the start Phil was very courteous and prompt.  He arrived on time for the estimate, gave us the low down on his ideas, looked over our ideas, then came back with a drawing and estimate.  He incorporated our ideas and tweaked the plan to meet reality.  (We aren't builders or architects so some of our ideas just didn't fit what could be done).  He thoroughly explained the exceptions in detail.  We hired Phil to remodel the basement for several reasons; his attention to detail, fair price, and our ability to pick and choose items that we would do ourselves.  
We finished our 1100 square foot basement with 950 square feet of living space including a media room, office/bedroom, bathroom, and tons of storage throughout.  The remaining area is the utility/furnace room with additional storage.
From the start of the job to the end, Phil never missed a deadline or commitment.  Everything happened on time and pretty much just how he described the job.  The entire crew that came into my home were friendly and professional.  We made several changes during the project which seemed to be no problem at all for Phil and the crew.  I was also pleased with the fair pricing for the changes we made.  Some builders might take the opportunity to hit your pocket book pretty hard.  Not the case here.  
The basement looks great.  Drywall is as straight as can be.  All the carpentry, electrical, hvac, and plumbing, look and function great.  I was home for much of the work but never had an issue with leaving the crew on their own in my home. Very professional and courteous crew.   
I would highly recommend Budget Basements to anyone looking for a contractor to give you exactly what you are looking for at a fair price.

Phil was fantastic to work with.  We had received estimates from a couple of different Contractors, but didn't have a good feeling about any of them.  We called Phil based on his outstanding ratings on Angie's List, and it was the best decision we could have made.  He provided us with a blueprint and estimate by the promised date, and started the work right on time.  We were clear that we needed the basement complete in time for Thanksgiving, and were dubious that this was realistic.  He assured us he could meet the deadline, and he executed flawlessly.  His sub-contractors were also fantastic.  We could not have had a better experience with the Painters, Electricians, Plumbers, etc. They arrived on time each day, and worked at a pace worthy of praise.
Phil communicated with us each and every day to let us know who was scheduled to work, and what the timeline looked like. He was open to suggestions, and allowed us to be creative when it made sense, taking our recommendations and making them work.  You will not be sorry if you make the wise decision to throw your business his way.

I do not write reviews however I felt compelled because this project was executed flawlessly. Phil's approach was so flexible which allowed us to customize the work as we required. There is nothing "budget" about the quality of the work. Very pleased overall.

Phil arrived when he said he would and provided an estimate.  The project cost exactly what his estimate said.  The stud-work was very high quality and I was happy with the work.
I was going to have him put the doors and drywall in, but he was unavailable after the electrical work that took longer than expected.  Rather than wait, I ended up doing the remaining work myself.  Probably should have waited.  It was quite a job that I would have rather had him do.

Phil was excellent to work with.  He was very responsive to our initial contact.  He came out to the house and went though the entire basement with us to determine what we wanted.  He also had a lot of ideas based on his experience.  A week or two later he provided a diagram of the project and itemized the cost of everything at a line item level - we really liked this.  The price was then adjusted based on the work done.  We went over the budget for the bathroom, which turned out great.  Picking out the tile for the bathroom ended up taking longer than expected.  There is not trim tile for all tile available at The Tile Shop, so we had to go back a few times and adjust our design.
Phil did some work himself, but for the most part he had contractors in.  All the contractors were very professional and we were pleased with all the work done.  Phil has a great relationship with the contractors which enables him to get the job done quickly.  We had some minor delays but they were due to weather and inspections, which could not be avoided.  We are very pleased with the end product - a play room for the kids and a guest bedroom / bathroom.

Asked for information online and Phil return my call the same day. Phil came by, looked over the basement and sent first plan a few days later. Quote listed every item to be performed.  Phil then came by again and with his help came up with a better layout at the same quoted price. Started work on agreed date and was on site or in touch with us every day with status of progress. Phil and his trades do outstanding work, passing all inspections the first time. Was done in time frame he told us.  Our basement came out perfect . We would not hesitate to recommend Phil to anyone.

Requested information online and got first call next day already . Phil stoped by and took measurements and we had a quote a few days later or so . We are more then happy we selected Phil , Phil and his team does outstanding work and get it done right in the time frame he told us it will be done .  His team does high quality work and our basement came out perfect . There was never a " big mess " during construction and everyone who did  work in our basement was a pleasure to deal with . We highly recomend Phil and his team to do the job if you need a "remodeling" or "finish a basemnt"  job done . Could not be more happy with the service we received !

I have nothing but good things to say about the work that Phil and his contractors have done with our basement.  I was expecting some kind of major issue, but everything went smoothly.  In fact, the only delay was the fact that the tiles I wanted were back ordered, and Phil was still able to finish on time without cutting any corners.

Phil called me very soon after I made a request for a quote.  It was over the holidays, so he asked if he could follow up shortly after the new year.  He did and we scheduled a quote.  During the quote he came up with some great design ideas and ways to help us reduce out cost.
When it came time do the work, he called the week before to make sure everything was set.  His crew was very polite and they were great to work with.  Paul and I talked every day, where he would give us a great update of what he did that day, and what they were going to do tomorrow.
They completed the job on time and the results are outstanding.  We were very impressed with the work and the entire crew.

Was a small basement project but I wanted it done right. Many over quoted the project due to its small size. Phil quoted the project within
reasonable margins and the work was completed as expected and on time.

I saw Phil and Budget Basements working on a neighbors basement and contacted her about Budget Basements and their work.
Her feedback was all excellent.  I contacted Phil and he came the next day right on time.  We walked thru our basement and I reviewed our vision of what we wanted done.  Phil made several suggestions and said he would get us an estimate in the next few days.
He called the next day and asked if he could stop by with an estimate and drawing.  He came by and reviewed the estimate  (which was easy to understand} and answered all of our questions and gave several alternatives to our wants and needs.  My wife and I discussed the plans and estimate and made several changes and relayed those to Phil.  He brought us  a revised estimate and plans within 2 days.
We accepted his new estimate and Phil gave us an estimated start date.  He said it would take about 4 weeks to complete once started.
Phil reviewed with us step by step what was going to happen from permits thru completion.  The next 4 weeks were seamless.  Phil reviewed daily what has happened and what would happen.  He always answered his phone promptly and reacted to any question or concern.  Phil used several subcontractors each was outstanding.
Throughout the process I received feedback from the subcontractors and the city inspectors how great it was to work with Phil and Budget Basements.  Over and over again I heard how Budget Basements always "does it right" , with the completion of our basement i cannot agree more.  He finished on the day he said he would, at the price we agreed on, and the workmanship and attention to detail outstanding.
I will always use Phil for any home improvement project in the future and will strongly recommend him to anyone that asks.

Along with Budget Basements I sought out 2 other estimates (Non Angies list). 
The 4 reasons I choose to go with Phil (Budget Basements) was that he:
1) Provided a detailed invoice of all services provided (woodwork, plumbing, electrical, etc...)

4) Very professional and helpful in making design decisions.
Phil & his crew were professional, on time and cleaned-up after themselves.
 They went out of their way to make sure each stage of construction was done satisfactory.
The job was done on time and with-in budget. 
I had several changes made which were quickly updated on the invoice and a copy e-mailed to me.
Phil is very easy to work with and seemed very genuine in trying to do anything within his power to make you satisfied.
Based on my experience I would definitely recommend Budget Basements.

It turned out good. When follow up was needed they came right away to fix the issue. They did not charge anything for the follow up. I have recommended him to friends and they have been happy with his service as well.

They were great. They did the project on time and within budget. Incremental changes to the original quote were dealt with fairly as opposed to being overcharged because I had already done the project.
