Ed Martin, owner, came out the day I called and gave me an estimate. we agreed to do the job. Set up approx. date(variable due to weather and if they get bogged down) but Ed kept to the week initially agreed. Ed and his team arrived promptly at 8:30am and the last man left at 5pm. They cleaned up the yard very well and removed/chipped the branches, Everything about this experience with Ed/and team was positive. I will not hesitate to use him again or recommend his business to anyone. Thanks Ed/team and Angie's list.

Everything went perfectly .... from my initial phone call requesting an estimate through job completion. Within one day Ed provided me with an estimate that was well in-line with the other estimates I received. Later, when speaking with him on the phone, he provided me the details of the work to be done and asked when I'd like to have the work completed. We were not in a hurry as that tree and the other stump held up our hammock so I told him anytime prior to the end of November would be fine. A week later he called to say he and his team could come the next day if that worked for me. We've had our share of disappointments with contractors but Alan's Tree Service was a terrific surprise! While I had someone at home sending me pictures along the way, the real surprise came when I arrived home. There was not a twig to be found on the ground, not a spot of damage to my flowerbed that was right next to the trees, everything was swept up.....honestly, you could hardly tell a tree was there this morning. Exceptional work by a professional team! We couldn't be happier (although sad we've lost a couple of beautiful trees). THANK YOU!!!

The team at Alan's Tree Service did an outstanding job. Ed came out quickly to quote the job. Once I contacted Ed to setup a time to remove the tree he told me it would be about three weeks before he could get to our tree. As promised three weeks later the tree was removed. The tree was removed quickly, the stump was ground out, and they did an outstanding job cleaning up. Alan's is definitely a tree service I would use again.

Mr. Martin (a certified arborist) first evaluated the tree and confirmed our suspicion of the need for removal. Before removal could be completed our power line and phone line needed to be diverted. This was taken care of by Mr. Martin without loss of power, phone, nor TV service. This large tree was removed in one day with little evidence of them even being there at the end of the day (impeccable clean up).

Thought price was fair. Did not quote competitively because quoting trimming is hard-felt previous work for trimming was priced fairly. Ed was on-site and directing everything and did exactly what was requested. Ed is very knowledgeable about how much trimming can be done to trees and will tell you not to trim if appropriate. Company had a two week wait which is a sign of a healthy business. The initial appointment was approximately as promised, but was delayed due to crew illness--would not expect that to happen again. Trimming was thorough and expect it to last for several years. Crew worked hard and cleaned up well. Will use company in the future.

Came earlier than the day we thought which was great and worked out well. Ed and his crew started work immediately and worked six hours straight in freezing cold weather. They skillfully took down my huge hickory tree and all the rest and also trimmed arborvitae trees. Clean up was great and couldn't be mor happy with their service!! Will definately call them again!!

The first time I used Alan's Tree Service I witnessed one of the workers messing around with a ladder which ended up falling on and smashing a gutter downspout. Rather than replace it they worker repaired it by bending it back into position. Not ideal, but I agreed it was sufficient. The second time I used Alan's tree service my tenant's hot tub cover was damaged during the service. After review of the damage by my tenant, Ed Martin (owner of Alan's Tree Service) and myself, Alan's Tree Service owner agreed to replace the cover. There were several conversations over the course of 4 months regarding the status of the replacement. I was assured it was ordered, then reordered, and then finally no communication at all from the owner. I ended up having to request my tenant to replace the cover and told her I would pay for the replacement. I would not recommend Alan's Tree Service - not for the quality of service, but for the lack of regard for the property and not following through on replacing damaged property which was agreed by all parties.

Moving a ladder as opposed to "messing around" with a ladder are uniquely different. Our crew members do not mess around with equipment , safety is job one.Unfortunately the downspout was dented accidentally and we repaired it , and the client accepted the repair. Unfortunately we did have a dead piece of limb wood fall and hit the hot tub cover making a hole.We discussed with the tenant and the homeowner how we would replace the cover. Since the cover was in used condition, i asked if we could shop for a used replacement. It was agreed that this would be fine.We spent many weeks searching and could not find one. The tenant has since moved from the home where the job was preformed and is a client of ours and has used our service at her new home. The hot tub cover issue was discussed and she informed me that is was not a major issue and that she agreed that accidents can happen and that we were not negligent , just unfortunate.

Called after July 4 storm took out some cottonwood branches and my power. Wanted 2 large trees trimmed to prevent future problems. Also needed back fence line foliage trimmed and grape ivy removed from phone line. It took over a month to get the crew out to my house. They were busy, Ed had family events, etc. that delayed things. They finally came and performed the services required but Ed did disagree with me over which branches needed trimming. I trusted his expert recommendations that the branches he chose not to trim would not harm my home in a future storm. I also had some vandalism (spray paint) done to the two large trees. I asked Ed's advice on cleaning them and he suggested I and quot;cut them downand quot;. Probably said as a joke but not the response I appreciated from a and quot;certified arboristand quot;. He told me to just leave it alone so I had to find other solutions to help fix them on the Internet. I ended up finding a great solution that did not harm the trees. His team worked fast and seemed to enjoy working together which is nice to see and it was clearly because of the way Ed managed them. He was joking with them and guiding them in the best possible way. With me he seemed more exasperated, answering my questions but leaving me feeling that my 5 or so questions were a nuisance. But he did answer my inquiries...so even though it wasn't a warm experience it got most of the job done. He was definitely more interested in interacting with the crew vs the customer's questions. The fence line still looked terrible because he did not trim the entire tree line since he could not touch the abutting neighbor's trees. Not his fault but wasted money for me nonetheless. I recommend he mention this type of thing to the customer before he got started in the future. The goal was a clean sight line. I also asked him to trim where my neighbors tree was hitting my house. They did not complete that part as the branches still touch my house. I have waited several months to write this review because Ed said he would return to fix the phone line that is now hanging 5 feet from the ground since he removed the ivy, and I wanted to give him time to do that. He claimed it was not his fault. All I know is that it was roof height when he started and 5 feet off the ground when he finished. When I called back he apologized for not telling me about it when it first happened and though he did not take responsibility for it said he would fix it when he was in the neighborhood. That was two months ago and he has not fixed it yet. I guess he is not coming. I would have paid more to get exactly what I wanted and to not have my property damaged. I will do that next time with another company.

The work was completed exactly as outlined on the proposal. The phone line issue is something that the phone service provider for the particular area has to attend to.Occasionally overgrown properties such as this one will have trees or vines affect wiring. When we remove the overgrowth ,wires will have tendencies to droop because the trees previously were pushing them up.This was explained to the client. I do not "joke " about tree removal,as a professional arborist , my information and instruction to a client is very serious.I expressed the need for removal based on the vandalism, the poor species of tree and the extreme closeness to the home. I was very attentive to the clients questions and had to maintain a balance with many questions and supervision of the crew.Safety is our number one concern and it is my job to watch everything from start to finish. I do not have an answer to why the client would expect us to cut down trees or growth or trim limbs that were on the neighboring properties , property that could not be touched by our company as it does not belong to the client. Unfortunately we did have scheduling issued and prompt service was not provided, I was involved with caring for sick family members that live out of state. We did provide quality service of the work outlined at a very reasonable price followed by an excellent clean up. Edward A Martin ISA Certified Arborist MI-0051 Since 1993. Alans Tree Service Inc.

We really appreciated Ed, the owner, being part of the and quot;crewand quot; during the whole service call. Our experience in the past with other Tree companies is that usually the owner is not present. Ed's had many years of experience and it shows. We have large full trees that need to be climbed to trim. This was done carefully - and all large dead branches were roped so they did not just fall to the ground - as we have seen happend with neighbors. We had 2 large trees removed - and it was done without a hitch. The cleanup was perfect - nothing left behind. I highly recommend Alan's Tree Service.

I called Alan's Tree Service based on Angie's list's good ratings to trim 2 big bushes that I have. I found Mr. Edward from this company unreliable. The day he was supposed to do the job he didn't show up and then Mr. Martin called 5 hours later to explain why de didn't do so. I was a little perturned because he didn't bother to call until 5 hours had passed. I gavehim another chance and rescheduled for the next day. He didn't show up that day either. This time there was no phone call and no Mr. Martin. Needless to say I called and left a message for him not to bother coming at all and that I would find someone else who was more reliable. This is bad business on their part. I do not recommend this company for any service.

A storm went though our block 6/5/12 and blew down a 100+ foot tree in our yard. 85% of the Tree went into the neighbors yard and we were left with the root ball/stump. Alan came over within 24hrs to provide an estimate. We were informed that nothing could be done with the root ball/stump until the tree was cut from from the root ball. We did obtain an est. for grinding of the stump at that time. 2 wks. passed and our neighbor still hadn't had a tree services to do any work. So we again called Alan to see if he could cut the tree at the property line in order to grind the stump so we could move forward with needed repairs to the fence and yard. Alan came by reviewed the situation inquired with the neighbors if this action would be O.K. since access to their yard would be necessary. Alan had contracted with the neighbor to cut and clear their yard thus providing the needed cut for the root ball. The work started and was completed with in 3 days. The root ball was ground in 1 day. The job was moved along with the help of Alan Tree Services.Job well done.

Ed was very responsive from the time I placed the call until the job was finished. Coincidentally we had just purchased the house and when he showed up for the quote he knew our property. He had actually done work for the previous owner for many years. The crew showed up exactly when promised and took just about as long Ed estimated the work would take. They left the yard and roof probably cleaner than it was when they started. We defiantly will continue to use them for on going maintenance.
