Alan was prompt in providing an estimate - the same day we called! Once we accepted the estimate (after receiving one other slightly higher estimate from another company that took a week to come out after our call), he scheduled the service on the next business day. Alan and his crew were prompt and professional getting to work on trimming, cutting, removal and clean-up of the trees and debris. We are pleased with the service.

Our choice to contact Alan's Tree Service was based upon our neighbor's recommendation. The first half of the tree fell during the night of Friday, September 2, and we observed the fallen tree when we woke up Saturday morning. As the tree fell on our incoming overhead electric service wire, we knew that we would not be able to have any tree service until the power company had resolved the electric wire the hazard. Later during the week the power company took the wire out from under the tree, disconnected it and reconnected the wire over the tree branch. We were expecting them to cut the branches to take them off the tree, but that's not what they did. Once that was done I contacted Alan Tree Service to request estimation for services. So at any rate, the weekend of September 10-11 a tree service removing another tree on the next street over had stopped by and offered services, we had expected Alan Tree Service to drop by later, but they said they could probably complete the job before Alan Tree Services estimate appointment time. We agreed, but since they didn't show up we had Alan Tree Service estimate the job. The owner arrived as promised for the estimate. He indicated that with his workload, he was backed up about 10 days. We agreed,although since that could have fallen during a vacation we had planned we called and asked him to come out the following week after September 26. After we returned, he indicated that his work had been delayed by rain. When we contacted him on Tues, Sept 27, he indicated that if there was no rain on Weds that he would be able to do our job Thursday or Friday. It did rain on Weds and Thurs but only during the late evening. Friday, high winds resulted in the second half of the tree falling on our neighbor's yard damaging the fence and their clothesline, at the time they were getting old electric panels replaced by an electrician so they took care of the power line. Several calls asking for Alan Tree Service to come out went unanswered so we ended up cutting the tree up ourselves with a chainsaw rented from Home Depot. We also had a nuisance mulberry tree we had wanted removed over the driveway which we would have asked Alan Tree Service to take care of had they returned our calls, but since they have left 3 messages unanswered we are no longer interested in their services.

Alan's Tree Service came and gave me an estimate in a very timely manor after I placed a call into them. I asked to have an estimate for two trees to be trimmed and shaped. The estimate provided was the lowest of three that I received. Ed from Alan's Tree Service came along with three others and they trimmed both trees and removed all trimmings. Besides the trees looking great when they were done I wouldn't have known they were there! I would recommend them to others.

He seemed very knowledgeable, but he seemed expensive.

They did a good job. They cleaned up the mess afterwards and you couldn't tell they had even been here.

The company was easy to contact, and the appointment was made. The crew showed up on time, and the job was done well. The cost was very competitive. (My only complaint would be that their ad says they take credit cards, but they actually requested a check. This is an inconvenience for me because my spouse and I operate out of different checking accounts, and his is designated for larger expenses.)

I called Mr. Martin approximately 3 weeks ago and asked that he come and inspect a huge oak tree next to the house which had several heavy, dead limbs and branches skirting the roof of the house, and was dropping tons of acorns. He said he would be out Friday or over the weekend. The weekend came and went, and Mr. Martin did not show nor did I receive a phone call from him explaining why he couldn't come over. He finally showed up unannounced the following Wednesday. I just happened to be home from work on a sick day, otherwise I would have missed him completely. He apologized for not coming over as promised, citing out-of-town family members as the reason. I then showed him the tree. While talking to him he did seem to have a good depth of knowledge of trees and gave clear explanations. He pointed out a long, vertical crack near the top of the tree, and said that this caused him a lot of concern. He said that this crack could be an indication that the inside of the tree might be hollow or rotting away. By the end of our conversation, he warned me that the tree could split in half at any time, damaging our house or possibly injuring/killing someone. He also told me there was a strong possibility that the whole tree would have to come down. Needless to say, I did not sleep well that night or the next. He said that the tree was an urgent matter that should not be put off, and so he would reaarrange his schedule to make this job his top priority. We agreed that he would call me the next evening (Thursday) to make arrangements for him to come over Friday to climb the tree and inspect the inside of the cavity. Well, Thursday came and went with no phone call or voice mail message from Mr. Martin. He did not show up or call the next day either, as we had planned. It is now Tuesday evening of the following week, and I still have not heard from him. While he seemed like an intelligent person, I have lost trust and confidence in him, and will not be using him for the reasons listed above.
