Based on a quote, hired owner to do projects in the garage, remove large pegboard, cover wooden stairs, build shelves and clean epoxy floor with attention to stains. Removing the pegboard left unexpected drywall damage, shelving was not secured properly with cross boards, the stairs were not completely covered and the color of the runner was not what had been discussed, two kinds of particle board were used leaving uneven shelves, the floor had barely been hosed down. Owner requested additional money at the end of the job claiming materials were not included in the quote. We should have supervised the job and requested a written quote.
