About us
Defence Enterprises has been operating since 2001 in the Clarkston area. We are a family owned business, with over 40 years of family fence business history. We have grown line upon line each year because our focus has always been on Quality rather than Quantity, and we have learned how to be very attentive to the personal needs of our customers. We pride ourselves on high quality materials and installation and on customer satisfaction. This is reflective in the fact that most of our work comes from referrals. We install residential, commercial, industrial and municipal fencing, gates and railing throughout southeast Michigan. Our employees have a combined 40 years of installation experience. We have the background to do any fencing project that you need done, and do it right, at a reasonable price. Our goal is to be large enough to handle any fencing, gate or railing need that you might have, but small enough to pay attention to every detail. Our opinion is that every customer and every job is unique, and therefore requires and deserves special attention. As a customer of Defence Enterprises, you will never feel like you are just another widget on the assembly line. We strive to make you feel like you are the only customer we are servicing. There is no such thing as a job too big or too small for us. We’ve completed jobs as small as digging one hole for a flagpole, to projects as large as thousands of feet of high security fencing. Some of the companies we have serviced commercially and industrially include (Consumers Energy, Comerica Bank, Pine Knob, Chrysler, Orchard Lake St. Mary’s, Pinnacle Foods, and more). In addition, a number of municipalities have contracted with us for their fencing needs (Milford, Independence Township, White Lake Township, Woodhaven and more).

Very happy with the work done, as well as the communication along the way (from quote - based on pictures I provided - to the install). Quote was quite a bit higher than I expected, but I learned from neighbors that chain link fence costs for small jobs are quite high (based on their experience with quotes for small chain link fence jobs). Very professional, high quality work. They were able to fit me in pretty quickly (just a couple weeks compared to 6-12 weeks with other companies). Highly recommend.

This is the 2nd house that I've had Matt and his team install fencing to enclose my backyard. He made it all even easy and worry free. The installation transpired without any issues. It took 2 days to install. When they were done, it was like the fence was always there. No debris, it was all cleaned up and ready to enjoy.

GREAT!! We needed the back corner of our property fenced with 3 custom gates built as part of the project. We decided to change our request prior to installation, and Matt was very accommodating. We live on a lake and didn't want to block the view...while keeping our grandkids and dog safe. Matt listened to all our needs, sent his crew out and the job done was fantastic!! The crew was professional, listened to our questions, cleaned up well... Our dog is so happy, we are super happy and we would highly recommend Defence for all your fencing needs! About 100 l.f. of cedar picket fence was removed and replaced. The work was quoted promptly with an estimated start date. All questions were answered promptly. We were emailed and called prior to the work starting. The crew was professional and neat. The work took two days; one to remove the old fence and install new posts and one to install the fence. The crew was easy to work with and offered suggestions for solving little issues. They even put up a temporary fence for the dog. The old fence was hauled away. The area was cleaned when work was complete. We are very happy with the new fence. This was the most pleasant experience we’ve ever had with a contractor. I highly recommend Defence Enterprises.

This is an incredible company that I would not hesitate to use again and would not hesitate to recommend. From the first meeting with Matt through today's installation with Bill and Zack, I could not be happier. For me, this process goes back nearly two months, but the delay was 100% mine. Matt met with me promptly, saw my yard, made recommendations, gave me a sample, sent me a quote, and revised his quote based on my changes. I had to have some trees removed to allow for the fencing. Weather has been bad so Matt and I kept in constant contact. I had the trees removed two days ago, and I informed Matt of this. The next day, he contacted me and the fencing crew was at my place this morning. When the crew arrived today, they walked the property with me, we discussed placement and aesthetics. I have a pesky utility pole between me and a neighbor that I thought would be difficult to contend with. The crew was terrific and made everything work. Four hours later, I got a call that they were done. They waited for me to return and walked around with me. I cannot say enough good things about this company.

Matt and his team are excellent to work with! Responsive, flexible, helpful, and a great value. Matt worked with us to fit the project in our budget and was completely customer focused while also offering advice based on his experience. There was a minor mistake made during install, but the team was very apologetic and it was fixed quickly. There was zero headache when dealing with this company. We have done a LOT of house projects over the years and dealt with companies, contractors, big, small... you name it. I have to say - working with Defence was probably the best experience out of all the home improvement companies we've worked with. Can't say enough positive things - thank you Matt, we love our fence!

I contacted at least 10 companies to rip out my old picket fence and install an aluminum fence. Matt was the first want to call and was extremely prompt and knowledgeable. I can't say anything but good about this company. The installers who arrived to install were Bill and Zack and they were not only extremely hard working but also just so very charming to work with! I must say this is the best contractor I've ever worked with for anything. The fence is absolutely beautiful and I highly recommend them!

We called Defence Enterprises for a quote on a privacy fence. Matt got all the information needed and sent me a quote within hours of the phone call. It was $2000 less than another quote I had gotten. Matt was able to answer all the questions I had about zoning regulations and everything related to this project. Due to the weather it took us a little longer to get the fence put in but that was no big deal. When the big day finally came Mike and Tom installed the fence. They kept me informed as the process went on throughout the day. Mike explained how to clean the fence if anything happened to it. They cleaned up everything nicely (took the old fence) and put the extra dirt around the yard near the fence which made the yard look even better. The fence is wonderful. We absolutely love it and will definitely recommend and use them again.

Matt and crew set standards on how (1) a contracting business should be ran (2) on handling and satisfying customers needs (3) establishing a designated person that is accessible to customers in a timely manner ( one of the top complaints for many other contractors). (4) to quote reasonable prices (5) on having a polite and mannerly work crew (that worked in colder weather and on hills on every side, never complaining). The crew also took time to explain how the special latches worked and took time out to answer questions (6) patience when we didn't order enough parts (5) most important: having quality work done in a reasonable time frame In comparison to a considerable amount of contracting companies we have dealt with in the past, we would rate Matt and the crew in the top 10% of the best overall. The Defence crew showed up on time, was professional, prepared, and polite. They worked with me to allow a problem to get resolved when at the last minute I discovered a rotted out tree in the way that needed to be removed for completion of the job. Knowing that I wanted the fence to resolve a problem with a neighbor, they came to begin the job promptly and then quickly scheduled completion to resume the day after the problem tree came down. I am thoroughly happy with both the fence and the responsive communication with Matt at Defence Enterprises. I would highly recommend them for any fencing job that you need.

I have hired many subcontractors to work on my home over the last 20 years. This is one of the best companies I have worked with. Matt responded promptly to my request for an estimate. He arrived when he said he would, came up with a good solution to a tricky area and provided the written estimate in a timely fashion. He responded quickly to my many questions. Matt's price was not the lowest of the estimates I received but I think I got what I paid for. He told me it would be 4-6 weeks after he received the contract and deposit for the fence to be installed. It was 4 weeks! The installers were professional and cleaned up all debris at the end of each day. My backyard has a large slope and the ground is uneven. The installers did a nice job of leveling the fence and contouring it to the terrain. They installed 3 gates which look nice and function perfectly.
