The Insulation Man was a pleasure to work with. Melissa the person who I spoke to on the phone multiple times was always friendly and kind. Jerry who came out to my house was knowledgeable, never pushy, and answered all of my questions. He sent documentation and responses in a timely manner and even took extra time out of his day to send me some links of things I asked for. Their prices were lower than all other companies that quoted us (for the same exact work). I was home on the 2 days where the insulation was put in, and the people completing the work were respectful and always seemed to be working very efficiently. On the second day it started to rain and they stayed to complete the work, even though they got wet. Overall, this was a great experience and I would recommend this company!

They did a great job. Excellent clean up, which is so hard to find. They had quoted on sound proofing a wall which was not done. Their specialist came out and decided that wall was a high risk for issues. I was glad to have it reviewed vs. having a major problem occur. I would hire them again.

Very well. Our living room wall would sweat in the winter and we could not figure out why...well it was because it was never properly insulated to begin with! we would have to keep the door to the front closet open all winter because humidity would build up and drip water onto our coats, etc. The crew insulted the knee wall in the stair void, and of course the true test will be when the weather changes in a few months....

When the crew arrived, Mike (lead guy) walked through the basement to see what he was dealing with.  Then he told me his plan of attack which involved a lot of prep work.  A lot of this job involves good prep work I learned.  So I turned them loose to do their thing.  After the spraying was complete, these guys cleaned everything up very thoroughly and left my basement in a perfectly neat condition with no overspray to speak of.  We were not allowed to enter the basement for 24 hours.  So the next day I went down to look.  It was terrific.  No smell at all and it looked like this insulation is going to make a huge impact in my comfort level and utility bill (TBD since it's still warm outside).

Don't believe any of the negative comments on the internet about "spray foam smelling"...........ZERO smell the following day.  And I have a very sensitive nose.  Spray foam gets EVERY nook and cranny and acts as a moisture barrier.  Zero drawbacks, yet it has every advantage over any other kind of insulation.  Insulation Man did a great job and I'm looking forward to the advantages of my spray foam.

Job was done very professionally and on time. They even worked us in before the end of the year in order to get the incentives from DTE (gas & electricity supplier). Our gas & electric bills dropped about 10% every month throughout the following year. And they have not gone back up. I continue to reap the rewards of having a well sealed and insulated house. I would strongly recommend this firm to anyone looking for these services and other insulation work. The Insulation Man was one of three companies to provide quotes.  Jerry made several recommendations after inspecting our house, and discussed all of our options.  We felt that the quote was reasonable for the work proposed, so we decided to go with the Insulation Man.

Part of the service was to perform two energy audits, before and after installation of the insulation, in order to qualify for Consumers Energy rebates that lowered the eventual cost significantly below the value indicated above.  In conducting the audit, Eve from The Insulation Man discovered a small gas leak in the gas pipe to our house (on Consumers Energy side of the meter) which Consumers Energy repaired that day.  In addition, the energy audit revealed that our hot water heater was back-flowing small levels of CO because the company that installed a new furnace and air conditioner a couple of years ago had not installed a chimney liner (as they should have to meet code).  With this information we were able to get the furnace company to come out and install the chimney liner under warranty.  The post-installation audit showed that there was no longer CO backflow from the hot water heater chimney.

The insulation job itself was professionally done.  The crew arrived on schedule in the morning, and they were done by mid-afternoon.  We could immediately detect improved furnace air flow due to sealing the air duct conduits.  It will take longer to judge the effect of the insulation, but we have gained significant piece of mind from the sealing of the floor joist gaps in the garage attic, which not only improves the insulation but also is fire-retardant material that provides a fire wall between the attic and the living space that was absent before.

In summary, we were quite pleased with The Insulation Man through the entire process from quote to installation to completion of the job with the second energy audit.
