Run Local Locksmith (Lake Orion Locksmith)

My daughter called Run Local Locksmith 888-686-3088, they came out in a reasonable time.  The tech told her it would be cheaper to replace the locks rather than to rekey and gave her a quote but didn't give her a total just kind of gave a break down which was $170, for locks and $90 for keying.  She had never had this done on her own so she didn't know if that was a good price plus with a break down instead of a total she didn't add it up or realize that the total would mean $567.  He never asked her for proof of residence or id even though they said they were going to when she made the appointment.  He also told her if she paid cash he would not charge her for taxes.  She paid it and immediately called me and asked if she had just been overcharged.  I said yes,  We have bought 9 homes in different states, NM, VA, KS, FL, MN, AZ, IL, PA and CO and in every home we have had them rekeyed, the most I ever spent was a little less than $500 and that was because there were expensive locks on the home and had to rekey 7 locks, but most cost around $200-$250 for around 5-7 locks.   She only needed two locks and two dead bolt locks.  This is a condo it did not have any fancy expensive locks.  I tried calling the company several times to complain that they took advantage of  a young person who didn't have any idea how much rekeying should cost.  They never returned my calls and so I finally wrote them.  My daughter made a complaint with the BBB.  They actually did write me back told me that my daughter signed and paid for everything so all they can do is warranty the work if there is a problem with it.  As for the ID they say she showed it and for the taxes they said they will pay the taxes for a customer if they pay cash and that they are compliant.  They went on to say that "children have to grow up and except responsibility for their own actions and decisions as well, regardless of the outcome being in their favor or not, for this is what helps make them independent."
I should add that I did call a local company we used on our home in CO and they said even if they changed the locks (which would cost more, not less) then they would have charged around $150.  
 My warning is that this company OVERCHARGES, they get you in with there $15 service call and rake you over the coals after that.  I realize that all locks are not equal and there fore don't cost the same but come on even at our average bill of $250, they charged $567, more than double.  And yes it was an expensive lesson for my daughter! VERY EXPENSIVE Call them if you need to learn a lesson!
