Promptly gave a quote. Scheduling was terrible. Quality was terrible. Never finished and what they did do was not to manufacturers specs. Left messages and have never called back for 2 months. Not paying the rest of my bill.

Recently, our house suffered damage from a falling tree. As this is one of the biggest home repair purchases you can make, I came in with a wall built up and not trusting easily. We received a few different bids from area roofing companies to ensure we found the best price and qualifications. He answered all of our questions, while educating us on what decisions would ultimately affect my family living and my budget. The job was completed ahead of schedule while battling rain/wind storms. Great! Our concern is not leaves but pine needles. The materials were the expected quality and screen out small particles. The workers were efficient and courteous. We are very pleased with the installation and service, and very happy with the product.

Took over a week to get a call back after requesting service. Then after we scheduled service they called again, apparently having forgotten that they had just called me a couple days prior. A few weeks later when they had an open slot to do the work they had to ask my address again as they had lost it. When they gave me a quote it was verbal, I thought I might get a written quote in the mail but it never happened. So, naturally after the work was supposedly complete we disagreed about the price and what was to be included. They had agreed to replace and paint the fascia for an additional $50 and it wasn't done. So, they came out a second time and replaced the fascia but didn't paint it and the board was the wrong size. During the replacement of the fascia board they bent the metal trim and left it badly mangled. They said they would come out a third time to fix the trim but after a month never did. I not only had to spend $40 on paint and supplies, but had to hammer down the metal trim and try to make it look halfway decent, but it looks horrible. Also, on the first visit they didn't properly clean up after the work and left chunks of wood and nails in the yard. Lastly, I am not confident that they replaced enough of the roof to prevent leaking again. We had agreed they would replace the lower 4' of my roof and it appears they only did the lower 2' as I can still see water damaged wood from inside my garage. Original quote was for $500, my first bill was $450, likely because they forgot what I had been quoted. After all the trouble they discounted my bill, but when they never showed up to fix the trim after a month I mailed them a check for $250 and told them I wasn't paying more. This is the second time I used Melvin Belk, the first time was about 5 years ago, and there were similar issues with the work not being complete the first time and issues with the bill. I thought the first time was just a misunderstanding, but now I see it's just how this company operates. I will never use or recommend them again. They really shouldn't be in business.

They came out performed the work. When finished, they texted me pictures of the finished job. Very pleased with response and workmanship.

Very satisfied with this repair. They worked with our insurance company to get the best repair possible. The work was begun promptly and completed on time. Cleanup was efficient and quick. Our once damaged roof now looks like it never had a tree on it.

We initially hired Melvin Belk in the summer of 2017 to replace our 24-year old roof. We had four estimates and selected Belk because of their pricing, reviews, and reputation. Another positive was Belk's 10-year work and materials guarantee - the company will return and attend to any issues that we have for 10 years! We have great confidence that Belk will honor the guarantee AND be and continue to be in the home improvement business for many years to come. Andrew Belk (our salesman) helped us select Certainteed 40 year architectural shingles in Charcoal Gray. The crew that completed the job worked incredibly hard and responded positively to every one of our few suggestions and requests. The work was completed quickly and our property was cleaned completely. The roof looks great and a year later shows as brand new. This summer (2018), we completed our home improvement projects by siding our home. Once again, we selected four siding companies with solid reputations and met with salesmen from each of the companies. Andrew Belk once again impressed us with his professionalism, guarantee, and price. The crew members that applied the siding were diligent, hard working problem solvers. They worked their way around our house carefully and consistently, framing our windows with 4" PVC and applying insulative, protective 1/4" fanfold beneath the siding. Our siding crew addressed every issue they located after removing our original siding...insect and water damage, improper original construction, and aging. The crew did a thorough job of trimming the house out and sealing all openings that led to the inside of the house. We chose Mastic .044" Carved Wood siding for its looks and durability. Once again, our contract with Melvin Belk stated a 10-year guarantee for work and materials. Our home, with a new roof and siding, looks like brand new construction and its value has increased significantly. There is an estimated 78% return in value for siding replacement, and I have no doubt that the product we selected and the work performed by the roofers and siders at Melvin Belk exceeded that estimated value. So, a shout out to our roofing and siding crews and to Andrew Belk in particular is in order. The work that they do is excellent, their preparation and follow-up is thorough, their pricing is very fair, and their guarantee gives us confidence and comfort. Whole experience went very well. Sales was efficient, and the working crew was extremely hard-working and competent. Cleanup and followup was complete and professional. Would recommend to anyone.

They repaired my roof without trying to sell me a new one. The price was fair. They were prompt and there are no leaks in my roof.

The service was great! They came to do our roof earlier than expected and got the entire job done in one day. The next business day they came back to clean up anything left in our yard, and to go over our yard with a magnet to catch any loose nails. Overall, we are happy with the job. It’s rained many times since the work was done and we have no more leaky roof.

The process went smooth. Felt they were honest and charged a fair price. They prepared us well for what to expect and things went as they told us. They did a super job cleaning up both during the job and after it was complete.

Andrew was always on time, very friendly and helpful. We actually signed a contract, but they were so busy (good sign), they couldn't start for 3 weeks. The next day I had a builder friend who offered to help me out and let me work with him to cut the cost on the job, starting immediately. Since we are late into the season, winter approaching, and our family will be leaving the country soon, I had to back out of the contract with Andrew to make sure the roof got finished before the snow. Andrew was very understanding and was willing to do so without any penalty to me, or even without asking me to pay for his time to help me tarp the leaky roof after we signed the contract. I liked Andrew so much, I couldn't stand to part ways without giving him some reimbursement. I almost had to force him to take the $100 deposit, which I was supposed to give him upon signing the contract, as compensation for his time and help.

If I could rate them higher I would. Kevin was at the meeting earlier than I was. He had an estimate for me already done. He took time to go over stuff with me and NEVER made me feel rushed. So kind and professional. My overall feeling was honesty and dependability. I was not let down. They did an excellent job and were very dependable and timely. I had 3 other estimates and they ended up being the best one. Also one of the other businesses I received an estimate from offered to match their price. This verified my overall feelings about Melvin Belk Roofing. I would hire them again for any of my properties.
