The roofer/stone mason surveyed what needed to be done to correct the leaking problem. Two written solutions/estimates were provided. The work was performed a head of schedule during extremely hot weather. All work was performed as agreed to. The "B" crew did an outstanding job and completed the work professionally and in a timely manner. Performed daily cleanup. Can't imagine what the "A" team could have done better. After several significant rain falls , the is no sign of any leaks. Thanks for a job well done.
Response from Bill's Roof Repair
"We take pride in our quality of work as well as professionalism. We are happy that you are satisfied with the final outcome of your project. I am not sure what the reference is to an "A" team versus the "B" crew as we only send out "A" teams to complete all of our work. Some crews vary on their areas of specialty so you were sent the "Mortar Man"/crew to complete an "A" job!"

It went very well. The roof was put on over 2 days and finished on December 13, 2019 Friday the 13th! That day for me was a good luck day. When it rains now there's no more hoping my tarp won't leak. I would advise anyone to give them a call to get a roof for their home.

The shingles are not straight. They extend into the gutters 1 inch in some area and 3 inches in other. It looks bad, it makes cleaning the gutter difficult. I asked about the 3 inch overhang. I was told “it helps the water run into the gutter.” The black underlayment has slipped out and is visible under the shingles at the gutters (pictures to follow.) I complained and was told: “that’s just the underlayment”. The shingles along the rakes are cut ragged and uneven. The underlayment they installed was warped, wrinkled and wavy. They put the shingle over it anyway. I think that is why there are nails popping up all over the roof. The flashing is loose and warped. There are nails showing. There is a valley in the roof. The shingles come out 2- 3 inches in the gutter. When it rains the water goes directly over the gutter and falls at the foundation. The original flat roof over the patio was tarred and had a drip edge. They replaced it with TPO membrane that they wrapped around the edge instead of replacing the drip edge. It looks sloppy, cheap and unprofessional. It gathers dirt and debris and needs to be washed often. The screws they used started rusting a week after it was installed. I had three vents in the back which they removed. When they said they were done I noticed the vents were not replaced and I had to ask them to replace them. When they did they didn’t cut the shingles out! A year later when I was in the attic I discovered it and cut the shingle myself. I took pictures first because who would believe it! When they were removing the old roof they threw debris into the central air conditioners. They put a sizable dent in one of the gutters. They stepped on a ground gutter, smashed it and left it like it never happened. These are little things but they sure add up. We’ve lived in this house for 25 years. The previous roof never leaked. The shingles were getting pretty bare so it was time to replace it. The new roof has had 4 leaks already in 4 years. In February when the snow was melting water poured into the house at the bathroom window. I called and got a recording they would be open again in March. So later in spring they did come and fix it. In fall of 2016 water leaked from the furnace vent into the attic. Made a mess by the time it was discovered! There was a loose seam in the TPA membrane. The seam was placed in a depression on the flat roof where water always pooled. When I asked them to please fix it I was told that a loose seam in this membrane is impossible. Well, it was loose and water did leak into it. Finally after several calls and almost 4 years later they applied more membrane so the seam was not in the depression. I know this is a lot. Anyone who thinks I’m exaggerating or being untruthful I would invite you to come and see the roof.

Not well at all, it caused a worse leak then the original! They returned two times and still was not fixed! My son-in-law bought roof tar and fixed the leak they created by not doing the job right! It only took a hour and $30 to fix!
Response from Bill's Roof Repair
"On 10/23/17 our field manager met with Mrs [Member Name Removed] to discuss an existing leaking. Mrs [Member Name Removed] wanted a repair, rather than to spend the money for an entire replacement; She settled and signed a contract for replacing her Flat Roof section with TPO roofing system. This was replaced by our crew on 11/24/17. On 4/16/18 Mrs [Member Name Removed] called and indicated her roof was still leaking so our crew returned that day to investigate the situation. At this point they found an area above our work on her pitched roof area that was rotted out and causing leaking. An estimate was provided to Mrs [Member Name Removed] for repairing this area; After indicating she could not afford to fix this area of her roof at this time, Mr Grant deemed the work to be done for free as Mrs [Member Name Removed] is widowed and on a fixed income. On 3/15/18 our crew repaired this additional work for Mrs [Member Name Removed] free of charge. On 04/17/18 our crew returned for yet another warranty call as Mrs [Member Name Removed] indicated the roof was still leaking. At this time, Mr Grant met with Mrs [Member Name Removed] & her son and explained that the entire back pitched portion of her roof, above our work was in need of replacement because this is where the leak was coming from. (this was also indicated at the first estimate in 2017- but Mrs [Member Name Removed] wanted to repair what she could afford at that time) Mr Grant observed that the leaking on the ceiling inside the home was at least 4 ft above the area in which our original work was done. An estimate was given for the replacement of the rear section of upper roof to include chimney flashing and vent pipes flashed. We are sorry that you feel this way as we take pride in our workmanship and make it a point to be diligent about honoring our life time labor warranty for the labor performed in the area of the contracted work. We have responded professionally and punctually with each call that has come in with concern."

No estimator from Bill or elsewhere was 100% certain of the cause. Bill made some upgrades in the area, for which I paid. I chose Bill because of the reviews and the guarantees, so I paid more for this job. Then then the leak returned. They were out immediately to review more thoroughly. They said it was either A or B. They gave an estimate, and it turned out to be A, the easier problem, so the cost was not overly high. The second repair occurred quickly.

Repairs look good and are leak free. Since that time a leak developed in a plastic roof vent. I called only them and they gave the same attentive service. Repairs have not yet been scheduled. Last time I forgot to ask for the Angies list discount. I didn't make that mistake this time.

This is a summer cottage and so I worked mostly over the phone and they could not have been better about working this way. I contracted in the Fall but winter came early so I was scheduled for as soon as the weather broke in the spring. Once it started getting warmer, I was contacted to keep up-to-date as to when the work would be done. They completed the work and although the rest of my roof is older, I was told that the rest of it was in decent condition and had years left on it. So although the shingles are new and so stand out, it saved me thousands of dollars not to to tear off the entire roof and replace sky lights too, and with money tight, that works for us. So he completed the work about a month ago and everything seems just fine so far. I would recommend them and use them again.

"It was a pleasure to work with [Member Name Removed]. She was very patient with us as we definitely had to work around weather conditions that shut us down a bit early last winter. Although we dealt with Ms. [Member Name Removed] by phone to complete the work, she displayed a high level of integrity and honesty in seeing that we received payment at her earliest convenience. We count it a pleasure to save our customers money while repairing the existing problem for them."

Estimator didn't measure roof he guessed the square feet- I told him he was so over & was cold price. Would be adjusted when they were done. The illegal Mexicans that did the work threw away about 300 sq. ft. of material they didn't cut straight. They also used my shrubs in front of the house for a toilet & my from yard stunk for a week.

"Bills Roof Repair had a signed contract with [Member Name Removed] on 07.27.15 and the work was completed on 07.30.15. [Member Name Removed] indicated that we did not have an official agreement, however we do have a signed contract for this job. [Member Name Removed] also stated that the work was completed in October of 2015, however the work was completed on 07.30.15 Mr Grant was not aware that Angies List offered a 5% discount at the time of this service, however as soon as he was aware he did discount the 5% without question. Bills Roof Repair prides itself in professionalism and quality work and we are sorry to hear that [Member Name Removed] felt she did not receive this."
