The owner came out to see the job which was to put a clear finish on the stairs and to stain the new wood at the bottom of the stairs.  This was part of a renovation project.  Remington was recommended by the company doing the flooring for the renovation project.  Owner said he had just the employee who liked this level of detail which was mostly hand work instead of using a machine and to let him know when we were ready.   Called when we were ready but due to their large volume of work, it took several weeks to work us into their schedule.  When employees came to do the work, we asked their names and they were not the names the owner said he would send.  They saw the job and said they hadn't done this before.  They showed us stain for floor at the bottom of the stairs in a can and said it matched existing wood.  We had some discussion about color and they put up plastic and went to work.  We had to run some errands and when we returned, the employees said they had problems with the stain because it turned the steps black so they had to resand several times to get the stain out.  Also the stain took unevenly on the trim.  We were shocked that they stained the stairs and told them we expected clear finish.  They said the job was not done and still needed sanding.  They said they did not know what the job was when they came.  We were very very disappointed and had to come up with a new solution which was remove and replace all the trim and put a clear stain on everything.  They said they would come back.  When we thought it over we realized they had a bad attitude from the beginning and did not want them to continue.  We called the owner to show him the problem.  He was not understanding but said they would fix it.  We said we did not want that team and he said they liked that kind of work.  We said they told us they never did it before.  The owner said he would send his son.  We agreed but upon reflection had no guarantee the son would do what we wanted.  The owner had told us he could walk away and we called and told him we had damage we had to pay to repair and didn't want them to return.  We thought walk away meant he would not charge us since they made such a mess of the job but the owner sent us a bill for $700.  We paid the bill and did not complain because we wanted no retailiation from the workers.  When they were at our house we asked they not use the main bathroom which our grandchildren use but to use the lav in the basement.  They kept forgetting.  They were disgruntled from the onset.  In addition, after they left, we found sawdust upstairs and under and along the side of the stairs.  They did a very poor job of cleaning up.

They did a great job. They had to come back 3 days in a row to do the work. They were prompt. They cleaned up after themselves. The gentleman that came out and did the estimate part was prompt, when he said he'd be here he was here. I would recommend them to anyone.

I was very overwhelmed, and they came in and replaced all of my flooring. They did an excellent job! They were marvelous! They were very efficient and knowledgeable.
