The city inspection is dated May 8, 2019 failed. The violations are as follows: For photos and more details go to Yelp Man’s Lumber and Millwork in Canton. 1)Gout in shower area missing in some locations. Grout rubs away with a wet finger. Shower area not water right. ( The grout has failed 2 times. They want to paint a chemical not designed for that purpose on my grout. I think they want to patch it up just long enough to pass city inspection and leave me with grout that is sure to fail. ). 2)Shower pan holds water in all 4 corners. The inspector placed a level on shower floor that indicates all 4 corners are pitched away from shower drain. ( Mans wants to fix this by popping the tiles in the corners and gooping up the floor to change the slope and replace the tiles. That will mean the shower pan will still have the corners pitched from drain and all 4 corners of shower pan will hold water and the joint between the shower floor and walls will be compromised and not water tight.) (Again, there goal is to just patch it up long enough to pass city inspection.). 3) Window in shower requires caulk to seal. Gap between sill and window present. ( They put a cheap beat up material as trim for my window in my shower. I told them I would pay to replace it with custom cut quartz. They put in the quartz without measuring correctly and left a huge gap in my window sill in my shower. That needs to be tight and waterproof. )

We used their services for a completely new kitchen. They designed, the ktchen ordered cabinets per our choice and installed everything on schedule, including rearranging appliances, installing new lighting, backsplash etc. So happy with the end result.

The purchasing of the actual storm door went smooth and the price seemed a bit high after recently finding it at a lower price. Prepaid for the install labor too (big mistake) . Unfortunately, the subcontractor that they contracted the install work with was not responsive with numerous broken promises to make appt dates/times. After approx 7 different dates and /or times, the door was finally installed 2 months later after purchasing it. It also took numerous calls to one of the owners of Mans to get the contractor to finally come out too. Now, just recently I also discovered the door was installed incorrectly since after contacting Anderson Door for missing parts that never existed for this particular model door (no striker plate needed) . If the contractor read the install directions as provided, the storm door would have been adjusted properly since the handle latch is not catching against the door rail frame. At this point, instead of calling the subcontractor back to make a 2nd trip out, I will do the door adjustment myself! Will never go this route again.

Mans is my lumberyard of choice when I need information and high quality materials. I don't need to sort through their 2x4s to get straight ones, they all are fine. I do use the 'Big Box' stores, but when I need advice, good service, and excellent materials without paying a lot extra, I go to Mans. I have used Mans for about 20 years now, and I have never been unhappy with what they did for me.

They showed up on time, did a good job, cleaned up afterward, and came out to fix a few rough seams on the floor later. They were courteous and professional and cared about doing a good job. They were also very competitively priced. I will use them again.

All of the personnel are very helpful. They are willing to take the time to explain their products. They have a good knowledge base. Their things are a little bit different than you would find in a box store.

Floor removal went well.  Took a little longer in time to remove the brick floor than expected.  New hardwood was installed and except for a few minor issues the job was well done.  Only issues were: moulding under front door needed replacing because the one installed was two pieces of wood instead of one long piece and the color was off.  Only about 1/4 of the nail holes were filled with the installation.  I would have thought all the nail holes would have been filled.  I never complained about the unfilled holes to the company and for that I am sorry.  Now we have to fill them all ourselves.  They did give me a tube of filler when I asked for it though to fill any scratches or other stuff I needed it for.

Very responsive; installers arrived as scheduled and were very meticulous and neat with their work. Quote beat "big box" stores.

The person doing the insulation had to come twice because the first time he neglected to build a framework around the attic access to hold the blown-in insulation to keep it from falling out when the access was open. Both times the work was very sloppy and lots of small pieces of insulation were left all over the porch floor, which is deck boards and screening underneath. (He didn't use a tarp over the floor to protect it!) The insulation is fiberglass and is dangerous for our cats, who could die if they ingested pieces while cleaning them off their feet. The first time our contractor had to clean up the mess. The second time I caught the guy and asked him to clean it up. He did not have a shop vac to suck up the pieces that fell in the cracks, so he collected what he could by hand. That left pieces in the cracks that he couldn't reach, which could blow around in the wind and become available to the cats. Now my contractor will need to bring a shop vac to clean up the rest.
