Description of Work: Kitchen installation was done by a contractor who did an absolutely horrible, non-professional job. When I complained to IKEA, they did not believe me, dozens of phone calls, nothing fixed until one item (the installation of the oven door) was finally done when I emailed the IKEA main person a photo of how it looked. It really is still not correct, but it is usable. The workmanship and professional decisions made by the contractors was horrible. The who actually installed my cabinets said my contractor was "excellent". Not on my job, and hopefully not on yours!! The ikea made hardware and appliances are beautiful and reasonably priced, but make sure you check and double check EVERYTHING - don't expect them to do it. And if you want them to do any extra painting, wiring, etc, don't expect a professional job.

They were much less expensive than any quotes from kitchen stores. They do take a serious commitment to building. And there is a limited range of options - for instance no 12and quot; tall cabinets, only 15and quot; so my choice of refrigerator was limited. That being said, it looks SO GREAT and much more modern than anything I could find without spending double!
Description of Work: I purchased kitchen cabinets and countertops from Ikea.

It is a fun store to go through. It is a help-yourself type store. I shopped around and looked at the display models of the furniture. They provide you with pencil and paper to write down the model of the piece of furniture you are looking at and the aisle and bin number of where you will eventually pick up the piece. They have a sales person in every area of the store that seemed to be informed as to their product line. I bought a put-together dresser for $150. I was very impressed as I was going to order one on-line for Target for $300. It doesn't look like a put-together piece of furniture. After you are done shopping, you are directed to their warehouse. You pick up a cart and go to the aisle and bin number that your wrote down. You have to put your own furniture on the cart and then into your car. Not sure how people manage to carry their couches away, but I'm sure they have some system. They do it this way to keep the cost down.
Description of Work: IKEA is a big box type store that is a Scandinavian based company. They sell home goods (dishes, furniture, bedding, kitchen remodeling, etc.) cheaply. I bought a put-together dresser from them.
