They put on a vacuum gauge on and they run it through to make sure the vent is clean. They do that for free. If they have to clean it then they charge you. They are very reliable and it's no problem.

Dave and Matthew were courteous, friendly, and efficient.  They were knowledgeable and made my wife and I feel comfortable that our dryer is now safer to use.  The price was a bit more expensive than I would have imagined, but, I am happy with the quality of work and the knowledge base that they possess. 
A couple of years ago I had an independent person out to clean the dryer vent and I needed to redo it myself because he only succeeded to wad all the lint up in one spot.  I had to pull the vents apart and clean them that way. 
Dryer Vent Wizard actually measured the air flow both before and after their work, the independent person did not.
I would recommend Dryer Vent Wizard.  The extra few dollars is worth their expertise.

I'd arranged for a dryer vent inspection/cleaning, and contacted Dryer Vent Wizard because I'd read very positive reviews about them on Angie's List. I called the Friday before Christmas (12/21), and was able to get an appointment for Christmas Eve day. Larry (the owner) came to inspect my dryer vent and found several problems which made the job more time-consuming and complicated than initially expected. He clearly explained the situation, showed me the problem areas, and provided me with a couple of different ways to solve the problem. Rather than asking me to wait until after the holidays, Larry performed the work on that very day--Christmas Eve day! He was even able to repair it without having to tear out part of the wall, which lowered the final bill. He thoroughly cleaned up (requiring no additional pre-Christmas cleaning on my part). Since my house is older, it seems as though any service call is more complicated and expensive than with a typical home. However, I felt that Larry was extremely fair and honest, and he didn't shy away from tackling the problems that my older home presented. I will definitely utilize his services again, and would recommend him to anyone looking for a company to inspect or service their dryer vent.

Larry Butterfield cleaned all the lint from our dryer vent and replaced the screws with tape to prevent lint build up.
He also removed a vacuum part i dropped in the dryer vent while trying to clean it myself!

Larry called to say he was running a little behind as the job he was working on required some added time. He gave us the option of waiting an hour or rescheduling. We decided to wait the hour. He arrived at the house on time then. Larry measured the vent air velocity and started right to work. He pulled out the dryer and cleaned out the back of it. He removed a narrow metal box vent section designed to allow the dryer to move back closer to the wall. He showed us that it was extremely blocked. Larry suggested replacing it with a standard 4 inch tube, and we agreed. He then cleaned out the run that went up into an enclosed ceiling and out into the garage. Once in the garage he took down, cleaned out and rebuilt a 20 foot run. He improved the 90 degree corners and removed a vent line door/gate. He measured the air flow and the improvements as he worked his way along the vent. His work was very professional. He worked quickly but checked with us to see which way we wanted things done, making suggestions of things that would improve the air flow. He was very courteous and respected our home, stopping to put shoe covers over his work shoes whenever he came into our kitchen to talk with us. I will definitely use his service again and I will highly recommend his service to my friends and family.

I was referred to Dryer Vent Wizard by an appliance repair technician who discovered that the dryer vent pipe that went down to the crawl space (and then under the kitchen floor and out of the house) had fallen into the crawl space. That is, there was no vent pipe rising up from the crawl space to connect the vent pipe from the dryer to.

Larry Buttterfield, from Dryer Vent Wizard, arrived at the scheduled time, 11 am. I showed him the problem and the location of the small hatch down to the crawl space. He changed clothes, put on a hat with a light, and went to see the situation under the floor where the stacked washer/dryer sat. He did not bring up a good report. The space was extremely cramped, part of the dryer vent was on top of heating/cooling ductwork and snaked around a large piece of concrete. He did not have enough room to maneuver to do repairs. Larry asked to take a look at the attic space and then the outside of the house. He then suggested a plan. Drill a hole in the ceiling above the dryer and run the dryer exhaust vent up through attic and then through a perfectly positioned hole in the roof currently used for one of the roof vents. He explained that the attic section of the pipe would be insulated and noted all the points he would apply calking. I approved the job and Larry went to lunch and came back with the needed cap for the roof vent exhaust. Larry worked diligently for the next three hours.

Larry took away the unneeded convoluted exhaust ducts, sealed the hole in the floor where the old exhaust pipe entered the room from the crawl space, cleaned up everywhere he had worked, and left the house as clean as when he started the project.

Larry's friendly and professional demeanor, the clarity of his explanation of the work, the effective way he executed each segment of the job, and the quality of the end result lead me to offer the highest of praises and recommendations for Larry Butterfield and Dryer Vent Wizards of Southeast Michigan.

Both employees were very professional and did nice work. They were punctual (they actually arrived early), professionally attired, neat and respectful of my home. They explained the work they suggested completing and provided an estimate. They worked quickly and did a great job. The price was a little higher than other providers, but it was worth it in my opinion for a professional and neat job.

Larry was prompt, courteous, and gave me a detailed estimate before any work was done. I was pleased with the end result, especially the fact that I now feel safer having replaced the cheap flexible vent that runs from the dryer to the wall.

The reason I rated "Price" a "C" is that I feel the advertised price for the cleaning was not accurate. Overall I would definitely recommend Dryer Vent Wizard.

I called because my dryer was taking too long to dry the clothes - usually two cycles a load. He pulled out half a bucket of lint. He cleaned out my dryer and the vent line was cleaned out and replaced the louvres on the vent outside. I will have him coming back on a regular basis in the future.

it's not the prettiest crawl space but he got it done and did a great job. Called on a Friday and had it scheduled the following Monday. Nothing else to say. He did a great! job.

I knew I was having a problem with my dryer venting system, so I called Dryer Vent Wizard of Southeast Michigan. Setting up the appointment was easy, and Larry called to let me know he would be arriving toward the end of the appointment time frame - which was greatly appreciated. He introduced himself, and immediately began to inspect my dryer vent system. He found one simple problem, but continued his investigation and found a much larger problem. The previous company who installed my venting system did not do a good job, and there was very little airflow. Larry had to cut out a larger hole in the outside wall to get the venting and air vent cover to fit properly. He had to go into the crawl space to work on the rest of the venting line. One thing I really appreciated was that he took a picture to show me the work done in the crawl space. While rebuilding the venting system, he also checked to see if the line needed cleaning. It did, and I was shocked at the amount of lint that was removed. I would recommend this company to anyone having problems, or who just need to have their dryer vent cleaned. I will be using this company on a regular basis.

He was went the extra mile in cleaning up -- he had to vacuum a portion of my basement drop ceiling because of the lint that had been escaping from the line. He did a excellent job and I plan on having him inspect my line annually. I would definitely recommend him.
