Employees were very knowledgeable and explained everything to me so I understood what needed to be done. When I had no water, they came out to my home right away and resolved my issue quickly.

Dennis immediately found that the problem was with the pressure gauge and said the pressure tank was fine. He replace the gauge and a couple other parts I requested, and the pressure tank refilled and the whole system worked great. I had expected to pay over $1000, but ended up paying less than $350. I appreciated his honesty and character, and would be happy to work with or recommend Buers again.

This provider is fantastic. We dealt with another drilling company out of Holland because I didn't see much on them on Angie's List. They came out three times, replaced tank, and other things but it didn't fix the problem. We were going to put in a new screen, but the owner of Buer told me that the cost would be fairly high and wouldn't necessarily fix the problem. We went with a new well and I'm glad I did.
The drilling crew were personable, punctual, and did the best they could do to clean up after they were finished. The price of the well was very reasonable.
I wish all the people who provide service to us were as professional as these guys.
Keep in mind that I probably will be in a nursing home the next time this house needs a new well, so there is no motivation for me to post this review other than to let you know that there are drillers and excavators you can trust.

The service technician did an excellent job overall. Prior to coming out, he researched to find an acceptable surge tank that would work with our well (we have a problem with the water being very corrosive to galvanized metal, hence the leak). While at the house, he did an excellent job and explained everything afterwards. He also volunteered to investigate an automated shutoff for the well in case of further plumbing leaks. Very pleased overall!

I had purchased new faucet fixtures and they did the installation for me. Everything was done on time, did a great job of answering my questions. They had everything cleaned up and did not leave a mess. The service guy was very friendly and got the work done quickly and for the agreed upon price. I would d efinitely use them again.

When my water well ceased working I contacted Buer Well Drilling, 239 E. Main St., Caledonia, MI (phone 616-891-8137) for service. I was told a service call was $125 and included one hour?s labor. I was told additional labor would be $110 an hour and parts would be extra. I agreed to these terms. The employee did not mention any drive time charge or any additional charges of any sort. The employee said she would look up my well on the state registry of wells to determine what might be necessary to fix it. When the serviceman arrived he did not say anything about any charges and I had no reason to ask him as I had been told the rate by the person who set up the appointment. When he commenced work he discovered he did not have the parts he needed on his truck because the office employee had given him the information on a neighbor?s well, not mine. He said he would have the office send the parts to my house while he waited. He said he would not charge me for the wait time. He spent exactly three hours at my house. When he finished repairing the pump in the well he gave me a bill that included $495 labor. I questioned this and he said there was an extra $150 charge for pulling the pipe out of the well, a lightweight PVC pipe that took him only l5 minutes to remove. This charge was undisclosed. Plus he billed me a full three hours labor (one hour at the service call rate of $125 and two hours at $110) and did not deduct the wait time. I tried complaining to the owner of the company, Steve Buer, and he refused to talk to me. I persisted and finally he took the call. He was so angry with me that I couldn?t get in many words. He called me names and claimed to not know what I was complaining about. Then he said ?what would you have done if we?d told you of the charges,? then he answered his own question by adding, ?I?ll bet you?d have thrown us off your property.? I took this as intent to defraud me and reported the incident to the consumer protection division of the Michigan Attorney General?s office as well as the Better Business Bureau of West Michigan, the state agency that licenses well drillers and the health department which enforces certain laws pertaining to wells. In his response to these agencies Steve Buer claimed his employees had disclosed the charges. Plus, he said his serviceman performed work I did not ask him to do. In the end I was forced to pay the full bill. I definitely do not recommend Buer Well Drilling for any work of any kind.
Response from Buer Well Drilling Inc
"We took the member to court for canceling his check that he wrote our service technician after we provided service on his well and small claims court awarded us payment in full when he refused to pay his bill. Our service tech who dealt with him is Dennis Ayers has over 20 years experience and is an excellent technician who clearly communicated to the member what the cost of repairs would be. We pulled his pump, which was not working, and offered him the options to replace only the pump end and keep using his existing pump motor to save him money. I had to deliver the new pump to our service tech because he did not have that model pump on the service truck and Dennis did not charge the customer the 45 minutes it took for me to deliver the pump to the site. We charge one way drive time to jobs and Dennis included this in his labor estimate of $495 + parts. Dennis used 4 hours and 15 minutes of time for this job and only invoiced for 3 hours. The extra time not charged for included a 1/2 hour to repair ruts in the yard and move landscape rocks back into place that he requested help with after he had paid Dennis. The member told me personally that our service tech did a great job and that he believed we were an honest company. His entire complaint on this job was not workmanship, which he acknowledged he had not problem with, nor was it the performance of his new pump. Even though Dennis billed him for exactly what he quoted, he did not like the fact that we had a pump pull charge when we put the service truck derrick in the air to pull the pump and he also believed that Dennis wrongly charged him for pump delivery time. The member deducted $232.50 from his bill after he paid us initially and than canceled his check so we couldn't cash the check. He is one of the most difficult customers I have ever dealt with in my 33 years in the well business and in my opinion was totally unreasonable. After the small claims court magistrate ruled against him twice, because he appealed the first ruling, when he wrote a check to Buer Well Drilling in court he whispered to me to check Angie's list so I guess the member got his revenge. He also turned us in to the BBB, called the Michigan DEQ and complained about our practices, and has used several opportunities to discredit our company in newsletters, etc. This is after he personally told me that we are a good company and that we do good work, but he wanted $232.50 deducted from his bill. He would not acknowledge that we didn't even charge him for the all the time it took to do the job. We would encourage potential customers who use Angie's list to ask friends and neighbors, the County Health Departments, or our competition about our reputation and we know you will find we have one of the best reputations in West Michigan as a company who has operated with honesty and integrity for the last four generations."
