What happens is you sit through an hour long presentation of propaganda showing people saving 60-70% and claim they to provide products for "whole sale." You can not look at prices or compare until you actually become a member. They have these "whole sale" prices on products filed in their library and you can not look unless you join. You endure high pressure sales tactics and are told you can't come back if you do not join right away. Unfortunately, I should of known it was too good to be true. After reviewing their library of "wholesale" prices on many products, I found them to be very limited and outdated. So I had them print out some Samsung products such as TV, washer/dryer, and Refrigerators so that I can go home to do a comparison on what you truly save. You don't get your on-line password for a week. What I have come to find out is that the savings are non-existent or minimal. The following are random comparisons from the printout they gave me on Samsung products. An internet search was done on May 19, 2013. Samsung LED 50" 3D & smart TV UN50ES6500F MRSP $1879.99, Amazon $1049.99, Samsung.com $1279.99, DirectBuy $1452 (plus 8% handling fee). Samsung 60" LED 3D & smart TV UN60ES6100F MRSP $2699.99, Amazon $1497.99, Samsung.com $1599.99, DirectBuy $1506 (plus 8% handling fee. Samsung 26 cu ft French Door stainless steel refrigerator MRSP $2099, Lowes $1699, HHGregg $1529.99, Home Depot $1526.10, Direct Buy offers it for $1499 (plus 8% handling fee). Samsung 21 Cu Ft French Door ref RF217ACPN MSRP $1549, Bestbuy $1124.99, DirectBuy $1177 (plus 8% handling fee). Samsung 20 Cu Ft French Door stainless steel ref RF217ACRS MRSP $1599, Lowes $1299, DirectBuy $1199 (plus 8% handling fee). Samsung Electric Dryer DV455EVGSGR MRSP MRSP $1399, Home Depot $1259.10, Amazon $1354, Sears $1399, DirectBuy $1079 (plus 8% handling fee). As you can see, as I have worked in retail in the past, there is no way they are providing you these products at "wholesale". I don't know what the wholesale prices are, but if they think those prices are wholesale, how are these other companies (Amazon, BestBuy, Lowes, Home Depot) making money and staying in business selling below these prices. The saving are minimal or non-existent. What I have also noticed is there MRSP seems to $100-200 more than the regular marked prices on other competitors websites. Also, if you include the 8% handling fee and shipping, any savings is nominal. A lot of the websites I explored offered free delivery. If you are thinking about trying to save money, DirectBuy is probably not the place for you. Like anything, you just need to do a lot of research, which I should of done.
