Actually I haven't use them but I am getting ready to use them so because I have a old vanity that I want them to replace the mirrors and I know it a big company and I went to there shop to talk to them so they were helpful so that's where I am going to take my mirrors to. I said I was going to wait because I just retire I wasn't ready to spend three hundred dollars on a mirror like that. they were wonderful and oh I tell you what else they gave me an estimate on, I broke the glass on patio table and they were very helpful in describing the different type of glass how it should be cut and they took me to the back of the store and showed me the different type of glass. they are very helpful although I have not used them but they steered me in the right direction for that patio glass. Their prices are steep.

Initial service was not very friendly ending up with becoming beligerent. The person who took my order wrote down the wrong measurements, after I showed her them on my iphone in the store. I did not expect to have to double check her workmanship, but in hindsight should have. Unfortunately for all involved the work ended up three times too large in one dimension. I had them cut the glass again to the correct dimension, once again showing the staff the dimensions I had saved on my iphone. They blamed me for everything that had gone wrong and refused to reprice the work. So I ended up paying three times the cost it should have been. I will not use this provider again.

We are hoping to remodel a bathroom and have no idea where to start. We thought talking to a shower door installer would be a great place to start since our desired tile is not flat and rather, multi-dimensional. As soon as I started explaining this to the clerk, she got this horrified look on her face. I appreciate that she was concerned about water leaking, but she was so negative right out of the gate and incredibly impatient. I mean, you'd think she'd be impressed that we talked to them first prior to calling them up and creating a nightmare installation scenario. Aside from this, the showroom is large, but their shower door samples are scattered and there's stuff everywhere - because they also sell furniture, clothing, frames, jewelry, and more - we just wanted to focus on shower doors, but there was a TV blaring and she seemed put out to wait on us, and it's not like anyone else was in the store. It was difficult to remain patient with her as she was so short with us, and their quote was $2400. We left, went to Howie's Glass in Royal Oak, and got a quote for half that along with a VERY pleasant experience with the sales clerk there.

I had previously used the services of ALCO Glass & Mirror on two occasions - once to have the same two mirrors cut as for this quote (last time they did it for no charge) and again to custom-make two glass doors for a custom home entertainment center. Both previous events were about 5 years ago and were uneventful. For this interaction, I first called ALCO and received what I thought was a reasonable estimate from a gentleman based upon the measurements I provided -- $5-10 per cut for several cuts. Note that cutting mirrors, including sanding the edge to make it safe is at most a 5 minute per cut job inside the store. However, after going to the trouble of removing both mirrors from the wall (multiple fasteners surrounding them), carefully loading them into my van, and arriving at ALCO, I got a new, MUCH higher quote of $35/cut (this time from a woman). When I pressed on the huge increase, the price dropped to $25/cut, still an outrageous increase of 250-500% versus the phone quote. Note that for both the phone and in person store quotes, they did not see the mirrors - I provided the same measurements in both cases. Therefore, this was not a case of ALCO changing the price once they had new info by seeing the mirrors. I?m not sure this was a case of quote low to get me in the store ? it was just as likely a case of shoddy customer treatment. A reputable business interested in loyalty would have honored their quote or at a minimum, split the difference. The person at the store claimed she was the only person answering the phones when I called - clearly not the case since I talked to a man. Her general demeanor was also very unprofessional and unfriendly - and clearly dishonest as well. I will not be going back to ALCO Glass & Mirror in the future. Thankfully as a result of this misfortune I discovered a highly professional and friendly glass & mirror competitor only a couple miles away (same distance from my home) and they cheerfully handled my request the same afternoon and for a price of $20/cut.

See above -- never got off the ground with them because no one ever came out to give me a quote. Wouldn't have minded using them because ratings from those who have were good.

After many attempts by three other contractors (including the Pella representatives who told us it would be impossible) to replace the broken glass, and after being told that it would be less money to replace the door entirely than to even try to repair it, the Alco people found a way to replace the thermo-pane without damaging the frame in any way. The estimator spent a long time studying the structure of the door and figured out a way to work around what everyone else saw as problems with the structure of the door. They ordered what they needed and came out and repaired the door without having to take it in to the shop. They did a beautiful job and the door looks and works like new--and the cost was much less than the cost of a new door. They also replaced a broken bathroom mirror. I thought the mirror cost was a bit pricey, but they did a clean and well fit install. They cleaned up after themselves and were very pleasant to work with. We are very please with the work that was done in our home. My only complaint is that the woman who answers the phone was very edgy...almost defensive and borderline rude. After the second time I spoke with her, I was almost ready to go to someone else. I did not, but other customers may not be as tolerant of her attitude as I was. If one can get past the abrasiveness of the receptionist, the company does a very good job.

I gave them the size information. The measurents were all dead on. Everything was fine. They went out of their way to help me load the stuff. It was a simple process.

They do perfect work. They are good with consultations on what kind of glass and thickness is appropriate for each project, as well as how to finish the sides and corners for safety.

I WAS NOT HAPPY WITH THIS COMPANY. THEY KEPT TELLING ME THAT MY WINDOWS WERE IN AND THEN THERE NOT. THEY DID NOT GIVE ME MY DOWN PAYMENT BACK AND THE OWNERS KEPT FORGETTING WHO I WAS. I WOULD NOT GO TO THIS COMPANY.
