I do not live in Detroit, but needed to empty the house of a relative in a limited (due to travel), and tight window. AFter finding him on Angies List, I emailed this auctioneer about two weeks before arrival and asked if he could meet me and consider auctioning household items. Much to my delight,  I received a confirmation email on the same day.

As we agreed, Mr. Dalton, as well as, his wife and a helper arrived on time, inspite of the snow.  He methodically and careful walked through the house and wit his team identified and listed the items that could be auctioned while taking geat care to insure that everything was listed by date of acquisition -- I was impressed because he was on target with what I had been told over the years of the purchase date of the furntiure and other items.  He and the helper then carefullycarried (and in spite of accumulated snow and ice on the walkway and street) and loaded everything into the truck.  I was assured that everything would sell and that I would receive a check after the auction.

As indicated in the other section, I received the check along with a copy of the itemized listing showing an itemization of the valuables taken, the amount for which they sold, the total, their commisssion and the check amount.

Doug Dalton Auctioneers made a very sensitive and emotional situation less stressful.  I highly recommend them to anyone in a similar situation.  I've heard of situations where furniture and other items are left on the street and others go through their "discards" because they are antiques.  We never imagined that an iemused as a planter used by my relative was a valuable antique that sold for $900.00!  THANK YOU DOUG DALTON AUCTIONEERS!

Mr. Dalton and his wife examined the items I wanted to sell, gave me an itemized list (14 or 15 items), with date of each item (circa 1890, etc.), and told me they would be auctioned the first week of Sept. They told me a check would be mailed 7 days after the auction. I signed the itemized list which included an agreement of a 25% commission.
The process was very professional, with Mr. Dalton examining each item, and his wife writing down his verbal descriptions.
Shortly after the auction (estimated 9-10 days) I received a check in the mail, with a statement listing all the items, their prices and all the bid stubs attached, showing the final sale price of each item. The statement showed total sales minus the commission, and this was equal to the check I received.
I was very surprised that ALL ITEMS WERE SOLD, and was very happy with the check.
Mr.and Mrs. Dalton have a very professional manner, and the procedure of evaluation and itemization of items, as well as follow up was also very professional.
I would definitely use their service again and recommend it to friends/family.

He came over and walked through the house and checked out everything that we had. He told whether or not it would sell and if we wanted to get rid of that. He is very professional. He really knows the stuff. We've been to several of his auctions and he is quite good at what he does. We were very pleased.
