This contractor showed up and gave quote. My first impression was Mr. Smith was laid back and seemed as though he would be easy to work with. We expedited his down payment of $16,000 so that he could get started right away. When asked he said the job should take 2-3 weeks to complete. His crew started in the middle of November and the tile floor was installed somewhat quickly so we were excited due to how fast that was completed. It only went downhill from there. Nobody showed up until the middle of December and even then it was only for a maximum for about 2 hours at a time and it was only 1 or 2 days at most. I contacted Mr. Smith several times through email and text and he always promised to be there within the next 2 days but neither him or any of his work crew would show. It is now the middle of April and he just completed the job yesterday. He now has the audacity to ask that the remainder of his payment be expedited by the end of the week. I would NEVER recommend him for a job EVER.

We hired this contractor based on the good work they did for us at our previous house. This time around unfortunately, that was not the case. We hired Rick, the owner of A Quality Home Maintenance in Belleville Michigan, to demo/remove an old deck and the siding on a house we purchased in summer of 2014. The demo on the old decks and siding went fairly well. They found a bunch of rotten wood that they ended up replacing. The owner, Rick, told me that the water damage was due to the siding and flashing not being installed properly. He also told me that his "siding expert" knew how to do this correctly. That was not the case. The construction of the new decks went well and they are built really solid. My only real issue is that I wish he would have used sonnet tubes instead of burying the deck poles directly into the ground. This would have probably prevented the deck poles from heaving during our first winter in the house (2 of the 4 deck poles heaved and have not went back down all the way). Our local building code did not require the use of sonnet tubes at that time. However, as the contract, and trusted source of knowledge on the project, I would that he would have thought we would have done the right thing and used them anyway. The big issues the really started with the new siding work, see bullet points below • It took the contractor almost 6 weeks to put up the siding and gutters, his initial estimate for this work was 1-2 week, 2 weeks being the max it would take. The delays were not due to them waiting on materials. The materials were all sitting in my garage waiting to be installed. It was like pulling teeth to get them to show up with a full crew and get things done. Most days, 1 or 2 guys would show up and get a little done at a time. There were days when no one would show up at all. I was adamant that they continue working on the job once they started it. I did not want the project to drag on and of course, that is exactly what happened. • They did not put up any insulation between the siding and the OSB. I asked for that but was told we didn't need it since we have 2x6 construction. I now have walls that are overly cold to the touch during the winter months. Come to find out, every siding contractor I have talked to says that it is common practice to include insulation between the siding and the OSB sheeting underneath. • I have water getting behind the siding and leaking out underneath the soffit trim during heavy/moderate rains. I have been asking the contractor to fix this for the past 2 years and have gotten zero resolution. I have a called, texted (sent pictures and videos of the water leaking), and left countless voicemails with no response. The few times I did get him on the phone, he says we will send someone over and that never happens. Beware of hiring Rick from A Quality Home Maintenance. He has proven that he does not follow through with addressing any of his customers concerns once the initial work is done and he has your money. He is a local contractor and I always try to hire local/trustworthy people when I can. I was confident that I was getting a good contractor based on the previous work they did for us. He has proven me wrong and now I have to find (and probably pay) someone else to fix his mistakes.

I live on a lake and needed to have the roof of my boathouse repaired. I also need to have an existing stairway shored up and a deck/platform built so i could put a storage shed down by the water. This is challenging job since all of the building materials, and debris, need to be either barged in or, carried up a long flight of stairs, across the yard and out to the street. Rick from A Quality Home & Maintenance Services came out to look over the job. He gave me some ideas on what he could do and we talked in general about how the job would go. He and his team showed up the first day bright and early and went to work. He and his team worked diligently, were very professional and, did a great job. We ran into a situation on building a new set of stairs. I wanted them to fold up and store out of the way. This required some creative thinking and building skills. Rick came up with a great solution. I couldn't have been happier. The entire job took about two weeks in total. His crew cleaned up after themselves every day and were very respectful of my property. When they left the job for good, my yard looked like it did before they got there. Except of course for the new decking and roofing. I was very impressed with the work they did. For the price you pay and the quality of work they do, these guys are tough to beat. If you need any decking, roofing, additions, home maintenance, etc done in the Belleville / Canton / Ann Arbor areas, do not hesitate to give A Quality Home & Maintenance Services a call. You will not be disappointed.
