They weren't able to access the information needed regarding the type of oil used in our car. The final cost was way beyond the original quote. The person managing the desk claimed the manual wasn't for the model car we had (It most certainly was since we had recently purchased the car new from the dealer), and his attitude was, overall, rude. This has gone downhill considerably since it was turned over to new owners and managers around a year ago.

I took the car in because a backyard mechanic had broken off the pinch bolts on both of my steering knuckles trying to change ball joints. I had been told by another auto service that I would have to buy a set of (replacement or used) knuckles in order to rectify the problem which would have cost about 9 hours labor (nearly a grand!). The mechanic at Double E had an idea to weld new heads on the bolts and remove them that way, which worked! Jim (the mechanic) and Double E saved me 1/2 of what this might have cost me. Knuckles were saved, ball joints were installed and an alignment was performed. I feel the car is now safe and it drives beautifully!
Also, they got me in right away, and gave me a ride home while the work was being done. As a bonus, they also put a couple quarts of oil in the car at no charge. I will definitely be taking the car there again and highly recommend these guys.

This did not go well. We have taken our cars to Double E for years and have been treated with utmost courtesy. Any work we had done, John always went over the job and informed us of all the costs of parts and labor before the work was begun on the car. The company has been sold and now has a new owner and manager. We decided to continue taking our cars there to have them serviced. We are very disappointed in the way business is run now. My husband called and asked how much an oil change would be on our 2015 Subaru. We were quoted a price between $40 and $50. Since this was less than the cost the Kalamazoo dealership quoted and was a much closer drive, we decided to take the car to Double E. I called back to make an appointment and explained that we needed synthetic oil and also wanted the tires rotated. Again, I was told it would cost between $40 and $50. No mention was made of the charge for tire rotation. I was also told that the oil we needed was on hand, so there would not be a long wait for the service. When I brought the car in, the manager could not bring up any information on his computer about service specs for Subarus. When he asked me the year of the car, I said 2015. He said the 2015 specs weren't available, so it must be a 2014. When I showed him the owner's manual, he dismissed it. When I mentioned I wanted the tires rotated, he made no mention of the charge for that. After a noticeable wait, a delivery person came in from a local auto parts store with the type of oil our car needed. Later, another person came in with the proper oil filter. Obviously Double E didn't have the parts on hand, and this added to a wait. When the service on the car was complete, I was handed a bill for over $80 (The Saburu dealer would have charged $60). The oil change was significantly more than my husband and I were quoted, and we were charged for a lube job which I did not request. Since I had another errand which I had to get to, I did not want to waste any more time there than necessary. I paid and left, vowing never to return for services on either of our cars. The manager is lacking in communicating and affirming the work to be done and going over the costs before service commenced. In fact, the manager was lacking in communication to the point of rudeness. The only good thing I can say is that Terry is still working there as their mechanic. He is one of the best.

Double E has been doing are automotive work for 30 years and would not go anywhere else. They service all cars. We also have 1993 Honda and 1980 MGB. Can't say enough good things about there service.

I've taken my 1997 vehicle to Double E a number of times. The first time was for an oil leak. I knew from looking under the car that it was simply the plug leaking after an oil change. But the garage that did the oil change refused to acknowledge that the plug was the problem. They treated me like I was just a stupid woman. The guys at Double E were very nice and found that it was indeed the plug. Fixed it quickly and in expensively without trying to talk me into some other work that i didn't need. I've taken my car back ther several more times, and each time they are nice to work with, and reasonable priced.
